These compact amps are a great way to bring in new customers. I believe one of the biggest con for people who stay out of car audio is that car audio takes up a lot of cargo space in their vehicles. Thanks for another good video.

      Boom boxes??
The output power HAS to come from somewhere, it isn't magic.
For a boom box with amplifiers like this, it would need about 16 D-cell batteries, and they'd last about 5 minutes. We already have PLENTY of tiny, powerful, amplifier I.C.'s that we could be using in boom boxes, but we dont have the battery technology to power them for long and make it portable.

@@cdashpcp I am sure there is a reason for those regular amps as in being heavy duty use.
I am not so sure how these would hold up for people that like to push the limits beyond 80 watts.
I am sure there are people that won't go hard on these small amps and that is the market they are made for.
My suggestion for buying a few more would be for people to use not to stress a single amp to death.

For a class D chip amp pushing 20W into 8 ohms 90+% efficient, needing minimal heatsinking this is about as big as you would expect without power supply. Onboard 36v boost is all that is required. Seriously it looks impressive until you think about it. There are hundreds of chip amp boards available that would fit in a tiny package.
When you get to over 50W into 8 ohms the little packages dry up.

  • @NuhUhNotTrue

These little guys feel like the best way to modify vehicles with those 20+ speaker setups. Add a bunch of these using line level inputs and swap out individual speakers. You'd build an excellent setup for balance, then use a nice line level converter to add your subwoofers. This could be an insane setup that's also very clean.

You cant pull more than the fuse is rated to blow.

I have the 4 channel version of this amp, 400.4, hooked to 2 6x9 and a 12" 350w sub. It hits pretty hard... I actually had to lower the gain for the sub because wsd just too much bass for my girlfriend.. lol. I've had a couple of Alpine amps, a Boss amp, AudioPipe, so I know what a good amp is. The Stetsom is not as powerful, but It's hard to believe so much power comes out of it. No problems in 2 years of use.

@@nairongruendling4434 I was gonna buy either the 440x4 or the 800x4. Question about your 400x4, have you noticed any class D noise coming through the amp? Like a hiss out of your tweeters?
I've heard that some cheaper class D full range amps don't have as good output filtering and let some switching noise through, its generally a very faint hiss that you can only really hear through tweeters. That's what kinda drew me away from them, cause I read a couple reviews about that but a lot of people say there's no hiss, like in this video, but idk lol. I guess the only way is to test, I'll see if I can find someone locally to test first and see.

@@00000005547 No hiss. Mine makes no noise. It is great for the size and cost. Sure, it is not as good as a mono amp from the likes of Alpine, RF, JBL, when trying to power a sub, but it works. It is a great little amp to enhance a factory system, when replacing stock speakers. Can't go wrong

Sounds great 🔊💯🫡..I had the Taramps TL500 on my stock radio for about a year and a half. I notice the sound is distorted at a certain point. Looks like I’m going to have to upgrade to the Stetsom 160.2 🫡
