- Another review from Carhartt's Work in Progress line. This one is a take on the Classic Vest. Slimmed down, less boxy than the non-WIP version. But does it justify the price difference? Needing an actual work vest as I work a trade job, I decided to buy this version as the price slid down to 126.00 CAD on the Ssense website. For me this was worth the money I paid but not much more. But the versatility to wear this under a T-shirt, Henley or hoodie, has become the most worn item in my wardrobe.
I find WIP sizing a little funny. The large Detroit is enormous on me, with the sleeves much too long, but the Chase hoodie in large fits just right. The medium lined Michigan coat is a lot better but still a roomy enough for layering. But the medium in this vest fits fairly snug around the chest, more room in the stomach, and almost too fitted for a thick hoodie underneath. I will have to try it for size again.
Thanks for the mention of the velcro pocket inside the right pocket, I missed that when I tried it on.
Just saw your comment now. Yeah the large fits me perfect. Im just loving this vest the more it wears in.
Another nice review! I'm thinking of pairing this with a Detroit jacket for cooler weather. Any thoughts on how sizing might work with those two?
This fits smaller than the Detroit jacket. The Large in the vest fits like the Medium in the Detroit jacket. The body I mean as this does not have sleeves obviously.

It's a functional work vest. Wouldn't pay more than I did tho.

I would think an M. You could consult a size guide and compare to your favourite jacket you own.
If you're in construction why would you purchase a WIP version of the duck vest?
Because it was cheaper than the normal Carhartt. I got on a 60 percent off sale.

I hear ya. But at 126 bucks CAD I thought it was worth a go. Just a work vest.
