    My frozen pie crust like yours usually comes in a pack of 2. I would put the filling in one and put the other on top, crimp the edges, and bake as you mentioned.

    I just made this tonight and my family loved it. Some hints:
    1. Cook for a longer period of time or at a higher temperature as the middle of the pie still had raw dough on top. I used defrosted chicken strips and defrosted frozen vegges. My suggestion is to change the heat to 400 degrees or cook for about 40 minutes under the foil.
    2. To deal with the raw dough on top, either pull the cresent dough so it is a LOT thinner or cook for a longer period of time. I would NOT suggest using the entire container of 8 crescent rolls. Maybe pull 4 nice and thin across the top. I don't recommend piling the cresent rolls on top of one another.
    3. It was pretty salty for my husband and I, but my son didn't think so. He licks the bottom of chip bags...I'd take his opinion with a grain of salt, or without in this case. Use a low sodium can of condensed soup or half it (mix with milk, or water, as someone suggested) to cut down the salt. Definitely don't add the extra salt as suggested in the video.
    4. Someone suggested thyme, so we did added it into the mixture.
    Overall, it was good. I will definitely be making it again. Thank you Justine!

    Frozen pie dough and crescent rolls have two different textures because they are different types of doughs. Crescent rolls are made with a yeast dough, and pie dough has no yeast.

  • @NolaDeb

    FYI: That canned soup is "Condensed" so you must add water or milk.
    I would use a larger pan and "Already Made Pie Crust." They come two 9" pie crust (rolled up) in a rectangular box. Look in the refrigerator section.

    • @chunkeymonkey600
      @chunkeymonkey600 11 місяців тому +3

      Pie crust in a box, got it !
      Im not sure about soup and adding water, it would make it too watery and with out water it would just be thick and have more flavor. Which is good, right?

    • @NolaDeb
      @NolaDeb 11 місяців тому +1

      @@chunkeymonkey600
      that full blown concentrated flavor will be overpowering.
      'Condensed Soups' are not made to be eaten un-concentrated.
      Thin it down with a small amount of broth, milk or water.
      Vent the pie crust. Brush with a beaten egg before baking. This will give your crust a nice sheen and golden finish. Makes a pretty presentation.
      * I make my pot pie in a 13"x9" dish. With no bottom crust and two pie crust on top. I add milk and the sauce is not too thin at all.
      🍀 Good Luck!!! Happy Baking!!!

    I wish I knew this recipe 40 years ago in college.
    I'd add some olive oil to the mix and use half of the canned soup so it will not get soupy, without adding more salt. Another option: low sodium soup

      I cook with the soups all the time. And hardly ever use milk. And I always add salt to everything I cook. I think it’s whatever you want. The only thing I would have done is mix it first before putting it in the crust. And I really like the idea of the crescent roll top. Yum 😋 thanks!!
