      Yes, I found low carb stuff has a lot of fool's gold on water weight - there's science behind it. Here's an example: I had a couple days worth of cheat meals (a lot of carbs) after a low carb diet. I gained 10 lbs!!!! I freaked out!!!! I just went back to my low carb ways. In 5 days, I lost the 10 lbs again. The weird thing is that my waist & body fat % changed with the cheat meals. Nevertheless, that convinced me there's about 10 lbs i'm going to gain back every time i start eating carbs.

    If you want a quick, healthy, low fat, low calorie, NO carb, cheap snack that is still yummy...
    Just go your store and buy a rotisserie chicken... already made. You can cut it up and refrigerate it, remove the skin if you're low fat, even portion it out if you want. That's my go to snack. It's so good cold! ❤

      Thats exactly what most people do, so don't feel to bad.
      I would say that the average American, eats anywhere between 3,000-3,500 calories per day.
      Sodium should be kept under 2,000 mg per day.
      High sodium intake is bad for the heart.
      Most people should be eating 2,000-2,500 calories per day.

      Laburr DiOcean Ive done a lot of low carb diets in my teens and throughout my 20s. I’ve now said I could never do one again. It’s so restrictive, how do you stick to it!? I never could stay w it for long amounts of time. I need bread and fruit! The low carb sets me up for failure bc I crave carbs too much and end up cheating. For the first time ever, I’m doing a low calorie diet. I’m 34 now, and honestly, it’s been the easiest diet I’ve ever been on. I can make anything I want, with lower calorie ingredients. Sandwiches, pizza, pasta. I eat a lot of fruits and veggies too, which keep me full. Oatmeal, low cal bread, pasta made from veggies, even low cal sweets and snacks. I’ve stocked my home with tons of low calorie foods, and bc they are low calorie, it feels like I get to eat a lot. Sometimes I struggle to eat the 1200 cal a day I set for myself bc it feels like I’m eating so much. I can’t believe I waited so long to try a low cal diet

    All I know is that 40 years ago I first heard about calories in versus calories out. I started counting my daily calories and kept it around 1500 calories a day for the rest of my life. These days it's much easier with apps like MyFitnessPal. I eat the foods that I like and eat mostly whole foods. That is simply because you get more satiety for fewer calories that way. I am never hungry. My weight has stayed at the recommended level of 185 except for one time when I stopped counting my calories for about 6 months. People have asked me what my secret is for staying at weight. All I can say is that it is a matter of persistence.
    P.S. - I threw out my bathroom scale decades ago. I simply monitor the notches in my belt to see how I am doing. The only time I get weighed is when I go for my physical.

Any ideas on what I should focus on to get back started. My doctor also prescribed phetermine and toprimate yesterday but I’m so afraid of insomnia. I just need a plan. create for starters a 500 calorie deficit. 250 from cardio aka walking and 250 from food and as you progress keep increasing the deficit to reach 1000. try to incorporate 3 sessions of weight training a week so you try and keep lean mass. when you start weight training it will hurt alot but you will feel better as days move. keep increasing the sets and reps and always make sure to go to failure and keep walking more or running harder for the cardio part and that way you become a better butter burner. in a maximum of 12 weeks you will notice a huge difference and you will thank me. also track every single little thing you eat even if it is one french fries or 2 cups of coffee. drink a good amount of water not necissarly like 3 or 4 liters. sleep 8 hours daily. Trust me. i have lost 10cm of my waist and 10kg in 1 month. i was 30% bf now im 20& and working my way down to the 12% range.

      d3lzzy Yes. If your goal is to lose weight, then simply eating fewer overall calories than you burn will result in weight loss.

    So you should count cour carbs if you're diabetic and count your calories to lose weight?

  • @karlhungus5554
    @karlhungus5554 7 років тому +4

    People need to focus on the quality of their carbs. I have a diabetic relative who has a subscription to a magazine that gives her 'diabetic-friendly' recipes that are complete crap.
    Everyone (especially diabetics) should be avoiding processed junk. Cakes and doughnuts have carbs (but, they're also usually more than 50% fat, but people don't consider that fact) but fruits and vegetables are also carbs. Whole food carbs are not the problem. People eat too much fat which interferes with the action of insulin.
    Finally, for weight loss, counting calories is not sustainable or accurate. Long-term studies show this over and over. People can lose weight on low carb, but they can also lose weight on any other diet, because the underlying mechanism is food restriction - which is unhealthy and may also lead to orthorexia.

Veggies and meat is the way to go. Once I met my calorie max, compares to my carbs, carbs always won!! It's definitely low carbs for that has made the difference.

      Keto was alright. It took away my childhood seizures, but it also made sure I never learned how to eat properly. I didn’t know how to eat once I went off it. I became obese when for most of my life at that point I’d always been underweight. The doctors did warn of that possibility and others from being on keto long term (3 years for me).
      Personally, I wouldn’t want to be on keto today. I like having the freedom to eat what I like. I prefer to just learn how to eat healthy and unhealthy food in moderation. I didn’t know what to do when I was 12 or 13, but I’ve taken the past year to learn as an adult how to improve my diet choices.
      Even on a diet I prefer having the option to cheat. I didn’t have that before. I didn’t even have the option to not eat all my food back then. I had to eat everything so I had eggs everyday because I was too afraid to try anything else in fear I’d hate it and have to still eat it all or it’d be too much for me to eat. I was the kid that ate 1-2 bites and said I was full. Except Cheetos and fast food breakfast. Those were my addictions. Always held an exception for those for some odd reason.

    Counting calories is stupid. Not all calories are equal. Lowering the calories will slow the metabolism. If you eat more calories, the body will simply burn more. Obviously this only works within a moderate window

    If you have diabetes don't listen to this person she is like every other doctor they know nothing about nutrition. If you eat 2000 calories of carbs you will spike your insulin levels through the roof. If you eat 2000 calories of low carb by the way low carb is considered 20g of carbs per day you will.have little spike in insulin levels that's the key especially if you have diabetes. So I have no idea why she says it's all about just calories counting its a hormone issue and that is insulin. If you want to lose weight yes you still want to minimize your calories but you get much fuller and quicker on your proteins and fats low carbs. Than you would on your fruits grains ect
    With much lower spokes of insulin 🤷‍♀️

    counting calories is tedious at best. it makes you hungrier doing it. i tried it and knowing how many calories does not equate to curbing your craving for food. for most fat people who like to eat. whats detailed here does not work..

    • @FullmoonPhantom-dn2sr
      @FullmoonPhantom-dn2sr 2 роки тому

      If you choose the right food, particularly foods that will make you feel full, you won’t be hungry counting calories. It’s best to avoid foods that make you crave too. I wasn’t hungry and I was counting calories for months. Nearly a year actually. Lost almost 30lbs doing it. Though I’ve since moved to counting carbs recently. Only just started in the last couple weeks in an effort to raise my metabolism. It slowed down quite a bit from the beginning when I was losing 3lbs a week.
      I did also quit walking when the weather turned cold and I had my first plateau that lasted 14 weeks. I quit a few weeks into it when the walking even for 2hrs just didn’t seem to do anything. Walking was where I’d had the most success combined with the healthier food choices. I joined a gym in the winter and went almost every day for over an hour, but I didn’t have as much success as with walking outside. That contributed to the slower process of losing. The holiday season was rough causing me to stop going to the gym. Fell out of the habit twice.
      I could probably continue calorie counting, it seems others have down so and lost more, but it was just not as fast as I’d like. I’ve been counting with an app so even though I wasn’t counting carbs or anything else, I do have the info tracked. It seems I was eating an insane amount of carbs sometimes even when the calories appeared so few. Like I’d kept to 1500cal or less a day.
      Not gonna go near 0 carb or anything, but I’ve started losing again having less than 150g carb a day. I hope to start walking again too since it’ll start warming up soon.
