  • In this video, learn the differences for patients between implant overdentures and screw-retained solutions, and why screw-retained implants are considered the superior choice by Dr. Rob in dental implantology. Implant overdentures are a popular option for replacing missing teeth, as they provide stability and support for removable dentures. However, they can still be prone to movement and require regular adjustments and part replacements. On the other hand, screw-retained implants offer a more permanent and secure solution. By attaching the restoration directly to the implant with abutments, patients can enjoy a more stable and comfortable fit. Screw-retained implants also have the added benefit of being easier to maintain and clean, as they can be removed for regular dental hygiene routines.

Dr. Stanley, I am thrilled to have discovered your channel after listening to so many disingenuous clinicians on UA-cam. Your presentation on implant design criteria was so educational/enlightening even for a lay person such as I. On this topic of overdentures, you are so on the money; I've consulted with 3 providers (3 CT scans) in the last 10 days and have been weighing my options for full upper arch restoration. I resisted the initial (low cost) temptation of full denture, snap-in dentures....better, but like you say, not ideal. Now that I know the dark side of All-on-4, I couldn't possibly subject myself to a procedure that requires the removal of 10-12 mm of bone plus soft tissue. Who in their right mind would do that ? (not rhetorical !) The closest "approximation" to my ideal is the 3-on-6, but sadly, I have to reject that approach on the grounds that it's a "trademarked" system and those who are promoting it are more interested in profitability than patient outcomes. You sir, stand in sharp contrast to those persons and procedures. You have made a great contribution to my educational journey and restored my faith that competent and compassionate providers are out there.

Spot on advice for clinicians. It is better to use your brain power in improving your protocols thus making your treatments more affordable than using cheaper not so well indicated solutions that will cost you lots of money in wasted chairtime.
