- Lucas Rufin, a self-taught designer and founder of Caligula Supernova Interiors, gives us a tour of his stunning flat filled with timeless charm in Bloomsbury, London.
For more extraordinary home tours, visit our website: homeworthy.com/
A former costume designer, Lucas moved from Normandy, France to Britain during the pandemic. With his self-taught design expertise, Lucas transformed his 1820’s flat into a captivating home that blends history with modern flair. Drawing inspiration from his theatrical roots, Lucas brings a unique perspective to his home decor. Rather than succumbing to the temptation of a complete renovation, he convinced the previous owner to preserve the flat's inherent charm. The result is a harmonious marriage of Continental and British influences that gracefully coexist within the confines of the 1820s structure.
Adorned with 17th-century Italian paintings and salvaged parquet flooring, every corner of Lucas's flat tells a story. Clever storage solutions seamlessly integrated into the design showcase his commitment to both functionality and aesthetics. His love for objects with a rich history is evident, with an antique china tea set proudly displayed. Gentry items, such as his beautiful antique tapestry depicting a scene from Don Quixote, are scattered throughout, creating an ambiance that transcends time. The result is a visual feast that celebrates the marriage of classical and eclectic elements, epitomizing Lucas's personal style. Enjoy!

It is inspiring to know there are young collectors out there. Perhaps the classics will not die after all!
Absolutely!!!
Please let go of your prejudice.. many of these pieces have survived for centuries, and they’ve witnessed every subsequent generation bemoaning the end of taste and culture.
Really 🙄
@@Sechari look, I am a professional decorator for a living and seldom have I had a young client who desires to live in anything but a midcentury modern or modern space. I have older clients who still care about their collections of antique decorative arts. I have been in business for over forty years. I am not speaking without experience here.

Oh! Thank you! Finally, a British home, always worth a watch.
House & Garden on youtube is all about British homes simular to HomeWorthy style
@@brendaguerin5423 true 👍
@@brendaguerin5423 very true, although it is at the smarter end of the spectrum, although not as grand as World of Interiors and Architectural Digest. But I don't think H&G would cover a rental flat in a London terrace, it isn't really on-brand for them
@@jakecavendish3470 I agree I feel House and Garden is superior to Home worthy
Such a beautiful home, he has museum worthy pieces but his home doesn’t feel cold and untouchable, it’s warm and inviting, such a treat to watch 😍
I’m a dedicated follower of Homeworthy and this has been by far my favourite house tour. Sophisticated eclecticism and incredibly charming lad (and super cute 😉)
I do agreed
…and that’s the main reason they chose to showcase him… because idiots like you are more interested in his looks.
Charming indeed and quite a storyteller. ❤
I like the fact that he's actually using his antiques not just as a piece of decoration as all people do. Love everything in this house ❤
That's pretty much incorrect... everyone uses their antiques whether they are high high-end or not so much!!! Part of the allure, is their endurance through the ages!!!
Antiques, whether they be furniture or fine china, require immense respect and proper care...
I adore this man and love his home! ❤
Such a wonderful place and an extreme departure from seeing so many homes from Taxas.
That's Texas, John.
Amen! Sick of seeing those overdone homes and pretentious owners.
He’s almost got it right. He needs some Steerhorns on the top of that big painting.
A wonderful talent young man with an eye for amazing art and textiles. A beautiful home,it’s hard to believe it’s just a small rental 2 level flat. The way it is decorated makes it feel like a larger home. Very eclectic but works well. I’m sure he will go far as a designer. 👍❤️🥰🤗🇨🇦
That's not a small flat by European standards. It's actually a pretty massive rental flat for central London.
Thank you for featuring variety like this, and not just rich white southern housewives in giant McMansions.
I think we could remove "white" and "southern" from that sentence, there, that's better.
Here, here!@@susanseverance9683
I am so sick of seeing those, too.
@susanseverance9683 I wrote white because I specifically want to encourage featuring more non-white people's homes from different geographies and financial brackets. I meant what I wrote. There, that's better.
@@jayt4835 if you think that's bigoted then you need to crawl out from under the dense rock you're living under.
Lucas is very engaging. I like that the videographer slowly pans over the areas that Lucas is describing. The light is nice, too.
Yes, great photography coordinated with the description or mention of a piece or area.
Splendid home tour. Engaging young man. He has a phenomenal voice, accent, and speaking style. A pleasure to listen to him. (And no "ums" or "uhs"!)
Or”like”
This is exactly the sort of house I follow your channel for. So much personality! Clearly, this young man is well off, but not ridiculously rich. One can aspire to create a home like this over time. Thank you for the video!
@danielintheantipodes. I am more than curious to discover how you know he is well-off but '' not ridiculously rich''. Do you know him personally or have you ever lived with him? Also I doubt you know a single thing about his personality. It would be wise to use your brains in a proper way before you decide to leave a comment here. Good luck with it.
@@amandinemanddyna2705 This is the sort of comment that puts me off social media. How do you know I don’t know him? Actually I do not know him. My reference is to how he presents himself, his style, elegant surroundings. Lovely presentation. You were not trying to correct an error. You just wanted to attack someone through the anonymity of a keyboard. My comment was positive. Yours aggressively. I will not respond if you do reply.
I agree whole heartedly. Such a lovely curated, interesting, warm and inviting space.
@@pamelacolson310Yes, it is very beautiful. Thank you for your response which is appreciated.
If he can afford to rent a flat that size in the centre of London, renovate it and decorate with antiques from Christy's he's very well off by most people's standards.
"Toto, we're not in "America" anymore!!! Look at all of these beautiful objects!! They are older than our country!!!" x0x0x0 Love the portrait of Charles II, have never seen anything like it!!! FABULOUS!! Thank you for sharing. . .bravo, welll done! Homeworthy!
This home tour has reinvigorated my design senses and beyond. He’s so charming, too! The art collection is understated elegance, he’s truly got talent and design knowledge beyond his years. Thank you for opening your house to us...what a treat
How absolutely beautiful. A lovely and thoughtfully gathered collection of possessions which gently speak to each other.
I love the portrait and it’s not narcissistic. Your home is beautiful.
Once again a stunning tour! I absolutely love this younger generation taking pride in creating stunning homes. Loved his kitchen and his old world, romantic style! He has great taste and is so charming. Love that he takes pride in the home he has created. Love this tour. Thank you Lucas Rufin. He and Chef Romilly Newman should be friends!
You don't see this everyday and Im here for it! So interesting and thoughtful! love his exuberance!
What a character. Great to see his appreciation of the past and showing us him towards the beginning of his design career. I can imagine his future as one of those eccentric old men with a house full of priceless antiques. Looking forward to his Homeworthy tour in 2053!!! 😁😁😁
Lucas is adorable and the home is very elegant. I really enjoyed this episode.
Oh Lucas, your home is elegant, classy, beautiful and well thought out. No pretentiousness. So many brilliant pieces! The bedroom silks (oooohh), the Chinese fireplace screen, your Don Quixote tapestry - all yum! I could listen to your soothing voice until the end of time. Thank you for sharing your flat with us. (Peace from California). ✨
Adore his genuine appreciation of antiques. Charming home.
What a fascinating home with an incredible collection of antiques. The screen in the dining room is incredible. Love all the history of the pieces. Thank you so much for sharing.
Good luck to you young man. Well done. Your eye, authenticity and enthusiasm will take you far indeed. You had me at thee empty champagne bottles, picnic baskets and parquet floor on concrete.
What a charming young man!
A very interesting young man that in my opinion has curated a most impressive collection of antiques that is being thoroughly enjoyed.
Love, love this home! The pieces owned are just so beautiful. When do you see such a collection of art, antiques and pure European style in a apartment flat. Thank you Homeworthy in finding Lucas Rufin and allowing a tour of his home.
I love his antiques and the way he styled his home. It doesn't feel stuffy. It feels welcoming.
He's also very cute and love his personality
With limited space he has created a truly exquisite home. Love this❤
I really like the length of these! 40plus minutes really lets us FEEL the interiours and the person creating/living in them. Bravo!
I could listen to Lucas talk all day long! He has a wonderful eye for design and his home reflects such warmth and interest. Oh, and what a great portrait his friend painted of him. Fabulous! Loved this episode of Homeworthy.
I LOVE seeing the younger generation taking an interest/appreciation in preserving, character, restoring, and owning past history of antiques/homes. 😊 Sharing stories from one's past, their family or even families they were not related to. This young gentleman is a true Renaissance man!!! Really enjoyed seeing his treasures and hearing the history behind them!
Thank you!❤😊
Terrace sounds so nice in his accent……elevates it!
One of my favourite homes so far…he has an incredible eye and creates an exquisite combination of comfort and elegance. Also, he’s quite charming!
Fantastic place, saving this video to watch over and over.
This is what I like to see Homeworthy! Good job. Classic decor with a home that has so much character- it never goes out of style-- and the fact that the items in his home have been bought over time makes such a big difference!
Gorgeous... Simple Elegance!!!
This was a fabulous home tour!
Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
What a very interesting and lovely home. So many treasures: the incredible screen, the Don Quixote tapestry, the church embroidery, the gilt China set, the portrait done by his friends - many wonderful things beautifully arranged. It was so enjoyable hearing his story, and ideas, and descriptions of his furnishings.
I enjoyed this beautifully curated apartment; this young man is well on his way.
This is was really enjoyable . Learning a bit of his background helps you appreciate his design process ; I could see a bit of theater in each room .
I loved this one! What a super romantic, neoclassical style❤ He is also super charming 😍 He reminds me of the crushworthy British singers from the 80's ( and, I mean that in the best way possible 😇)
So heartening to see younger generation collecting & valuing antiques. Your home is beautiful. I was especially enamored with the screen and the flooring. Gorgeous!
He is captivating! The home is enchanting too! I laughed when he said “a bit knackered”!! 😂🤣
Why did this tour just relax me from all the things go wrong I had happen to me today 🤣💚🤣
Tomorrow will be a better day. ❤
@@toosense it was because I gave it to god thank you my friend 😗
I could listen to this nice man talk all day. Sophisticated and beautiful space.
Oh I love your accent, very good English with a subtle cockney twang. I also love the fact you appreciate British objects and you’re using and enjoying them. Beautiful home with beautiful finds ❤️
Love his aesthetic. The flat may be in London but the interior feels more old world European. Lovely home.
Lucas has a beautiful home. I like how he has decorated it.
This is one of my favorite homes, simple and not cluttered. Stunning decor.
Bravo!!!!! This Gulf Coast Girl is so in love with this interior!
You seldom hear French people speaking such beautiful English 👏 charming man
You seldom hear Anglophones speaking anything close to proper English.
Hard disagree.
and he's self trained/ taught .
@@allanrinaldipaone9850 There’s no such thing as a “proper English accent” there are over 30 dialects and within that even smaller changes town to town .
I believe you are referring to RP . This is no more English than a Geordie accent , or a cockney or Yorkshire or any other .
interesting mix of public school, RP and North London slipping in every now and then! Pretty amazing as a 2nd language.
Absolutely charming in every way. Love anyone who puts pictures on the floor and has a collection of bottles like an undergrad. Bloomsbury is a wonderful area of London. Great good fortune in life, young man. You are very talented.
Absolutely Lovely! This charming flat is now on the top of my list of greatest Homeworthy videos.
A beautiful home filled with lovely things and a charming and gracious host.
This has to be one of my top favourites of all tours, I absolutely loved it! Lucas has created an exquisite home so beautifully thought out and he was such a fabulous host, bravo! 🤩
What a lovely man and a beautiful home. All that wonderful art…wow! This has to be one of my favourites on Homeworthy . I couldn’t get Lucas’s accent at first, it sounded like a mixture of London and somewhere in Europe but I couldn’t place it. Of course, as soon as he mentioned France it was obvious. I love how he pronounces the word “noice” (nice) very “Londoney” (I’m a Londoner and just made that word up lol). A great 42 minute video which seemed to fly by so fast! 💕👌🏼
I could sit & listen to him talk for hours....
Beautiful place!!
Monsieur Rufin, thank you for sharing your home. As a Francophile, I very much appreciate your sensibilities. From your attire to your furniture and appointments, I admire your work and presentation. Vous etes tres beau!
Bravo !!!! This was truly a delight !
Thank you, Lucas. I could not have enjoyed your home tour more. Take care and have a fabulous Holiday Season. DA (Vancouver, WA - USA)
Yes ! A great individual home and looks lived in ! More of this please homeworthy !
He’s got fabulous taste. Clearly though you have to have an eye and know what is beautiful 😍 and would look good together.
Lucas is very charming, as he his home. What a lovely warm home filled with beautiful antique art and furnishings. He is very talented as one can see, by how he decorated his flat.
His lilting Frenglish is so fun to listen to. I love that little kitchen!
Its lovely to see a young person so in love with classic pieces. He has collated some amazing pieces and I am sure as much flair as a designer.
Luca is a very charming young man. I can see his artistry in the design of his apartment and the way he carry’s himself. He is very stylish and classic, very nice to listen to him talk.
The painting that was done by a dear friend of him is beautifully done and captures him in such a natural way. Not narcissistic to like a work of art that a friend did of this young man. Hours of sitting and enjoying the final painting is honorable to the artist.
Beautifully decorated apartment that is lived on without pretentiousness, love the colors throughout and especially like the kitchen and salon/ living room space. Perfect for entertaining friends and family.
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour of this lovely London flat. It would be so nice for home more they to do more of these types of properties. Thank you for the tour.
This just marvelous - I never wanted it to end. He is utterly charming and eludes just love of his home.
What a unique home and what a lovely guy ❤️🙏
Charming home with unpretentious host. A refreshing respite from the real housewives of Texas. 🎉💙🇬🇧
LOL
Beautiful very calming space. I can imagine being alone there just as easily as having friends for a chatty dinner and drinks party. Lucas is very interesting young man. The portrait of him is stunning. One of my favourite Homeworthy tours.
Absolutely delightful! A breath of fresh air 🍸🍸
Love his style and taste! Fabulous!
Such a beautiful, calm and peaceful space. Love listening to stories of houses and their personal tastes of decorating
I could watch his home tour thousands times! Such a beautiful house!!❤
I love his sense and sensibility! 🎶
I intensely like this flat. It is drool-worthy.
A beautiful, warm home that has been put together very well. Thank you for allowing us to see to visit.
Unique and creative. Thank you.
Thank you Homeworthy, lovely beautiful flat😍😍.
I Effen love Homeworthy...this was great entertainment this Friday evening... Cheeers!!!!
He is so lovely and genuine! Such beautiful work. ❤
A very interesting man and home. I like that he embraces imperfections and patina. It makes his home feel so comfortable and inviting.
Love the kitchen and bottle collection❤️
I so enjoyed this, what a gorgeous young man 😍just adore him& his beautiful home, wish him lots of luck in his endeavours ❤
I love your decor - you need some nice antique reading lamps next to the chairs and sofa. love the antiques! thanks for this.
Loved the charm of kitchen.
I love the London homes
Very lovely put together. Hoping the lad will add flowers to the bottle collection.
Nice breath of fresh air. Nicely done flat, with both an antique / classical and Art student quality. It shouts good taste and a hopeless romantic. It eould be good to know what wall paints he has used and in tbe kitchen what colours. His friends who made the portrait are talented, it is a very very perfect capture.Perhaps he will not age and the portrait will like Dorian Gray😅.
He's actually 54, but still looks boyish...
😮@@starveartist
@brendaguerin5423 just kidding, he's probably 25 going on 65
@@starveartist haha I thought he looked very young.
He is soooo much like Quentin Crisp!
Yes the resemblance to a young Quentin Crisp is quite uncanny, they really should cast him in some kind of biopic of him although there was one not that long ago
@@jakecavendish3470 I agree, he looks so much like the photos of Crisp at the same age and his voice is also quite similar!
Oh my God, Lucas is adorable. I felt like I was watching Mr. Darcy! And the flat is so well done. I LOVE that kitchen and dining room.
Encroyable! Amazing designer. I love his space and choices.
bravO Rufin !! Your home is homely, elegant, quirky and inviting and graced by your charming english accent :-) ⭐⭐
Charming host, talented designer, lovely home. Thank you for your cheerful & thoughtful tour.

Lovely home! I’m a self taught designer as well. I’m an American and I drink my tea dark with sugar too. Thank you for sharing your home!
I love your blue and white tea cups and tea pot, very Chinese:-) Thank you for sharing your home with us.
That screen is magnificent!
I love it...this home is eclectic but rich in color and textures.
I really enjoyed this video! I love his personality and his museum like interior. Which is one of my favorite if not favorite interior design aesthetics ❤
All around lovely! Thank you for a quality tour!
Enchanting 'episode' serendipitously fitting to see Lucas Rufin landing in a neighbourhood 'carrying' the Bloomsbury name rich in cultural diversity, Thank You for an enchanting visual journey!
