    I followed your step by step video and paused when needed to make sure I don't break anything. Moen provides a lifetime warranty on their faucets so I ordered the cartridge, o-ring, lubricant oil with plastic cartridge remover tool to shake it the cartridge. The parts are free of charge and no shipping charge. I used pliers to pull the cartridge out. I used WD40 to loosen it and worked great. The hardest part is to remove the handle. I used rubber gloves to get a good grip and pulled it out- at least three attempts. Three plumbing companies were charging me almost $300. I saved $300. Thank you Moen.

    Thank you for this! Did it step by step, faucet is 16 y/o so some parts were stuck. Got it done , no way without video.

    Thanks so much! I didn’t know the screw was behind the Mowen sticker and knowing exactly what part to get saved me multiple trips to the hardware store!

    Thank you. I would never have felt confident doing this (without destroying the faucet), had it not been for this video. Sound would be preferred in the future, but this format works too (it just takes longer to get thru and may require re-watches).

    Thanks for sharing, took apart the same model to clean and grease it as it was incredibly difficult to pull up.

    Thanks for the great video! Since the allen wrench size for the handle retaining screw is 7/64", this project forced me to round up all my loose allen wrenches to find a 7/64"! Most small packs of these usually only have 1/8" and 3/32".

      Thanks for your comment, none of my packs has a 7/64" but now I know what to look for!

    Thanks for this, I have this exact faucet and needed to see how it came apart. My screw in the top of the valve is stuck though, it’s just turning the metal shaft that it’s screwed into, nowhere to really grab it because of the plastic bits underneath. Maybe I’ll hit it with the KROIL!

    This how to video is great. It just doesn't show the handle being stuck on from corrosion, and fighting to get the cartridge out. I also couldn't get the cartridge to seat back all the way in and ended up damaging the new cartridge. Now I can't get it out. I think I'm going to have the wife pick out a new faucet.

    I think you forget to lubricate all rubber surface rea with plumber's grease. My shower mixing valve is the same 1225 part, and I always grease the washers and clean the tube where the new 1225 part gets installed. It seems to insure a longer duration before having to do it again.

    Step 2 should be.....plug cover both drains.....lol
    When putting the new cartridge in....the hole in the flat part of brass stem faces the back ( so not to reverse the hot and cold )

    The replacement cartridge comes a plastic tool to allow one to easily rotate it 90 degrees CW which allows the cartridge to be removed easily, the tool is needed to rotate the new cartridge 90 CCW after insertion. If you follow this video you will likely ruin the cartridge and not be able to replace it!!!!!!!,

    the main mounts need attention, it should not flex down when you put in new cartridge, that is a disaster waiting to happen.

    Good video. Where was it leaking? Was it leaking at the faucet nosel, the faucet base, or under the sink? I'm asking because I have the same faucet and mine is leaking at the faucet base and under the sink.

    • @EasyHowToTube
      @EasyHowToTube  6 років тому +1

      From the faucet nozzle.

    • @markgilden9044
      @markgilden9044 5 років тому

      Mine is also leaking on top and underneath. I figure it is getting underneath the housing because it is also a constant drop up top. Is that what you were having, and did you manage to fix it?

    This is a great video. My issue is that the O ring (s0located on the base of the unit. How do you get to that area at the base. Contractor installed unit. Don't have direction. Moen website does not provide clear direction.

      Turns out it was the plastic brace for where the screw tightens down to the cartridge...the housing was cracked through so spinning the screw just spun the whole cartridge. Because this type of faucet is so old, I'm unable to find the handle adapter code 116847. The new adapter i purchased wouldn't fit. I've emailed Moen to see if they can do something for me.

      I figured that out today repairing one in my rental. What a freaking pain. I just bought a new faucet and spent just as much time loosening the slip collar. Real fun when you have drain pipe and disposal where I need to be. Also no room to turn wrench....real pain.

      That handle adaptor is die cast and the handle is chrome-plated brass....most likely corroded together.....not easy....might have to use some vinegar ( or chemicals ) or a handle puller. Will eventually come apart

      Todd Poolman Thank You!! Was definitely corrosion. Squirted some vinegar into the hex screw hole and it came off about 30 seconds later with no struggle. Before that I thought I was going to break it trying to remove the handle (and probably did a little).
