    Beast Academy has the books and can be done online as well. Online is amazing, they have videos if you want to watch them but you are not required. Things move quickly enough to hold interest, kids earn coins which allows them to build their own monster. It's all very well done and nicely put together. After you answer a problem it shows you how to get the answers. I have been told you can go back thru the lessons and it will give you new problems, though we have yet to need to do that. I looked at TT and wanted to love it....I found it super painful to even try. Felt very dry and no where even close to as well done as BA online.

      Thank you for sharing this!! I might look into this a little more. Can it be used as extra?

      @@learningwithboys7431 You could use it as an extra that's actually how we started with it. But I found it to be so well done, robust and just more enjoyable for my kids so we use it all on its own now. You don't NEED the books, the online has a digital copy of the comic book if that is of interest to your kids.

      We use the Virtual AoPs Academy as our main math curriculum, my kids both love it!! They are testing well above grade level on the NWEA Map Growth test, so we plan to continue using it as long as possible. :)

    Thank you! Each child can be so different in the way they learn. We've tried many different math curriculums over the years as well. This was helpful! 🙂

    I just found your channel, and it seems so interesting to me, because I am pregnant with a baby boy, and I am interested in potentially homeschooling him and any other children I have in the future. I would LOVE to just pick your brain on this. Your curriculums are impressive!

    We did Abeka 1-6, then tried Teaching Textbooks. Now we use Saxon 8/7 because it explains everything so well. We do 1 hour of math a day as my daughter picks up speed and accuracy, which means it takes longer to do the lessons. But she needs the repetition.

    • @learningwithboys7431

      That is such a great idea! That is sort of what I am doing with my 4th grader. He definitely needs repetition😉 thanks for sharing!! And watching😉

    This was so helpful!! Math is one of those things that I struggle with deciding on for each of my kids (12, 14 and 15)
    I think Math U See would be a good fit for my younger two especially, but I’ve heard negative feedback about switching bc of the difference in the way they teach multiplication. Any thoughts on whether it was a challenge to bounce back?

      They have a placement test to be sure you are jumping in at the right spot. A lot of times he gives you 2 ways to do something. This makes it important to watch video with you child (at least younger or new) and make sure they understand 1st lesson. I did another updated video on MUS which I will link. If you still have more questions please ask😉 ua-cam.com/video/j11wXcc8N-c/v-deo.html

    I used to play a game called Operation Neptune that sounds similar to the game you are talking about. I thought it was super fun trying to figure out math problems to progress in the game 😄

    Math has been a difficult subject for our family. We discovered Shormann math recently. It is an online program similar to Saxon and it is working well for my daughter.

      I wish I could tell you more!! My oldest used and liked it. I know it gave him more than one chance for a lesson. If I remember right they do a free trial. A friend whose family is very mathematical used it and said it is good.

    You sound like us…we did Saxon, TT and finalized on Learn Math Fast. Our child has done LMF starting in Pre Alg and is going into Alg 2 now. Textbook, no frills, one lesson per week then the problems throughout the week. Is Saxon not working because you’re wanting him to do every problem? You can require him to do less(like odds/even)maybe that would work?

    • @learningwithboys7431
      @learningwithboys7431  2 роки тому

      No we did every other problem. But he if he missed a day at all it is impossible to catch up. It was a strain and I want him to be challenged not discouraged 😉 ctc math seems to be a good fit🤗

    My son Joshua is 25 years old.He went to public school. Did extremely well. I have dyscalculia. So I am improving my math as an adult. Math U See would be my top choice for myself, Because of price I choose Learn Math Faat. My niece is dyslexic. So she has hard time with math.

    We've started with math u see with my oldest daughter, but the problem that we are running into now is that she has to test starting in third grade. Thus, there are many topics that she hasn't seen, but will have to be tested on so I'm not quite sure how to navigate that now. I'm considering a switch to Saxon to keep her more on grade level within a year.

    • @learningwithboys7431
      @learningwithboys7431  2 роки тому +1

      I really want to encourage you remember if she is learning all year, it would be hard to make decision to switch curriculum for one test. We don’t have to test but talked to a friend and she said she thinks it is broken down where you would be able to see what areas she did well in😉. I pray God gives you wisdom😉❤️🙏 hard fo me to say when I am in a different situation. But I do know my oldest also took testing when in 1st-5th grade and he did fine😉

      We did like CTC. I highly suggest that you take advantage of the free trial. I do not regret using it!!😉 but we are going back to our favorite which is Math U See. I’m hoping to do a video in the next week or so about that😉
