This is exactly how I'm feeling this year and had to remind myself of the same. Pregnant with baby 10 in Feb (middle of the school year) while homeschooling 7 kids plus will have 3 Littles. I started out the year wondering why it was so difficult some days since last year was going so smoothly. Then I remembered, last year was literally the only school year where I wasn't either pregnant or didn't have a baby. So after that reminder, I felt much better and thought how we really aren't doing to bad. Instead of a science curriculum we decided to take hikes every other week at nature preserves in our area so we could observe nature/science and then ordered books from the library based on our observations. That has been a blessing in so many ways. Hope people are encouraged by your video. This is one of my favorite subscriptions. You are always straight to the point with your videos and they are always full of help/encouragement. Thank you!

We are currently using MFW family cycle for all my children 2nd to 9th grade. I’m adding in the 101 science series and government this year. I’m looking for an economics course to add for next year. I will check out compass classroom. Thanks for sharing.

(Wife typing) I just love your channel. Its such a calming, refreshing balm in my house full of testosterone 😅 We have five boys, ages almost 13 down to 18 months. Thank you so much for answering so many of the questions in my head as we approach 8th grade, and very soon, high school! We are in Iowa and I keep up my teaching license, so hopfully that will help us as well. Thank you, again! Oh! Do you or would you ever do a video on if/how you and your husband teach the more Biblical side of having boys, namely preparing them to be husband providers and fathers? That would be so valuable to many!

You are obviously a great home-school teacher, but I imagine the majority of the parents doing home-school do a disservice for their children. I have a few students that were home-schooled and they learned close to nothing at home, and were very far behind most students their age.

Rachel thank you so much for your perspective on DE. I was super gung ho to enroll my oldest boy at the local Christian college next fall but you just stopped me in my tracks. He’s definitely college bound but now I’m really thinking about the load and how that can impact his other activities which are equally important (tennis, mock trial). Our state pays for 30 credit ours. He has 2 years to get this done. I might just start with one class and go from there. You’ve got me thinking now. Thank you again.

I'm a firm believer that you can remember anything that is put into a song. My children have learned so many things like the nations of the world, multiplication, and Bible verses from music.

I would love this in a printable with breakdowns of daily/weekly/monthly/yearly 🤣

Oh I was not aware of the blue stocking guides. Im glad you shared those. I've been looking at Guest Hollow's Government and Economics course. It has most of the resources you just shared in it and more. When I went to find some of the books they have in the list for the course I first looked up whatever happened to Penny candy and really liked the content. When I saw he had more books I put the whole set on my Xmas list. Maybe I'll get the blue stocking package to go with it. Anyone who isn't aware, the Guest Hollow high school course looks pretty good. Definitely worth checking out.

I'd love to hear more about people that do a fifth year if you have any more information on that topic. I've never heard of this before.

My son is using his senior year to transition to a more entreprenuer and life readiness focus. He didn't want to take a fifth year, but he is not interested in college either. So, for now, this will be our focus for him next year for his senior year. I'm going to look into some mentorships for him.

What do you recommend for a child that just cant focus in LA. We use TGTB but it overwhelms him, He isnt a good speller at all. He hates to write I am at a loss, He is in 6th grade.

I love how you are using this! am somewhat familiar with the IEW style of writing as my kiddos have used it this past semester at a local co-op. Neither has done much writing prior to that, but seem to be doing well with the program thus far. If I were to try a themed unit at home for a slower pace, do you think I could combine them into one book? They are currently in 5th and 7th grade, so I am not sure what would be the best fit.

My 7th grader is almost done with volume 1 and we love this program! I'm not sure if we'll continue with Learn Math Fast when he gets to Algebra because I also have my eye on Denison. We'll see! I'd like to add that I had bought volumes 1-3 somewhere else and noticed in this video that you have COLOR EDITIONS (some blue lettering, colored coins, measuring tools, etc)! Ours are black & white. I recommend to order directly from the company, people. lol I personally want to re-order for the color editions (volumes 2 & 3) but my son said don't bother, it's not worth it. lol ;)
