Why my wheel hub kept spinning when I tried to lock in the new stud? I could not stop it, because even I put a hammer standing on the floor to hold it, the suspension was moving down, dropping the hammer.
The rear hub is not as loose as in the video. I can get the dust shield to spin a little bit but there’s no wiggle room at mine. Should I just try to wedge it
Not sure what your issue could be, but make sure the parking brake is not engaged and car is not in gear. This was also done when the car had 6k miles or so, and I don't know if age/more usage will make this job harder
@@expeditionplus3902 Thanks for the reply, I got it out, the hub assembly and dust shield were rusted together and also rusted to the spindle, after a lot of persuasion (hammering the hub assembly free + pry barring everything to separate it) it all came apart. car had like 40k on it
You set the caliper up, but you should add in your video to zip tie it cause when they fall and damage the hose and you dont realize anything was damaged it's a lotta fun. Also you probably shouldnt hang the parking brake shoes on the wire that that, again should be zip tied or use wire to take the weight off the electrical connector
I don't think you should worry about damaging anything, but the springs for the handbrake assembly are kind of a pain, and there is one tab that you turn 90 degrees to slide off handbrake parts. For handbrake testing all I did was pull it and make sure I cant spin the rotor once it is back over it, and when released nothing sounds like its dragging. Since I did not move any adjustments all that i looked for was working or not.
I have a tomei also :) nice to see how to replace the rear wheel studs! I made a front wheel stud video, but I wish I was able to work as fast as you and get better shots and angles! hahaha
i have the same STI 15 and I need to replace one in the same wheel yours, I bought the wheel stud but it looks smaller and different than yours (cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0277/9175/products/Wheel_stud.jpg?v=1429119714)
The picture you have looks like a stock size one, I have extended studs which are about 20-25mm longer then factory. It will be same process to install, and might be a bit easier since it is shorter. You just would have to use something different to work as a spacer when pulling the stud through to get it seated in the hub. If you want to get the extended ones then I have a link in the description.

sick video - thanks for making it. everyone does videos of the front cause it's so much easier. i really needed this
Thanks for the vid!! Just snapped one last night swapping in new wheels and tires. I love the WRX community and how we love to work on them ourselves!
Did you release the bleeder valve so you can press in the pistons inside the rear brembo so you can install onto the rotor again?
Can ua change mine
Lisle has a stud tool to replace studs. It centers the stud and can be used with an impact wrench.
If installing 80mm studs I would pull the hub bearing assy. instead of cutting or removing the backing shield

Great video man! Subaru love! 👌🏻 Subbed!! Keep up the good work!! 👌🏻👌🏻
I forgot to put the ebrake down when I was doing mine😅
Thank you for making this video. I just replaced several damaged wheel studs and found watching this very helpful :)
Thank you!
Maybe use a grinder and grind down the backing plate a little to make it easier to remove the stud.
Why would you grind the backing plate down, so many things wrong with that idea
Very helpful and well put together. Thank you
Did you have to bleed the brakes afterwards?
No, caliper was never disconnected so no need for bleeding brakes and handbrake mechanism is all mechanical linkage.
Is there anything to look out for not to damage, and how do you make sure the handbrake is good? Preciate the vid, snapped my stud this morning.

What studs are you running

Music way to loud and annoying
There is a volume control you can use as everything is written and you don't have to listen to anything. You are welcome!
Nice work but fuking bgm
