    The wire from the steering box is for the horn. It runs up through the steering shaft to the steering wheel/horn ring.

    I think some older cars with a steering wheel mounted horn push, ran the wiring through the steering column and out through the steering box for simplicity.

    Hi just subscribed, this looks like everything I need as I'm a complete beginner to restoration, I live in France and I've bought a volvo amazon 1966 coupe on Swedish plates and in the process of registering in France and its same colour as this one. Everything looks so daunting to me but this channel looks great!! First thing I guess is to get the manual!! Thanks for the great videos

    Front chassis crossmember/sub-frame is body color if its earlier than 1965. 65 and later are light gray.

    • @perpetersson9001
      @perpetersson9001 Рік тому +1

      I am with David on this one. There are some debate here in Sweden on Volvo forums about the colour of the crossmember. Some will argue that it should be light grey. I have four Amazon’s, two from 62 and two from 63. All of them in different colour but the crossmember are always painted in the same colour as the rest of the car.
      My theory on this, (not confirmed) is that when Volvo opened up the new factory (Torslanda ) they changed the way they produced the Amazon. I have seen pictures from Torslanda where they mounted the crossmember, with the engine on top of it, by lowering the body over the front and rear axle. The crossmember on these pictures are light grey….

    • @perpetersson9001
      @perpetersson9001 Рік тому +1

      Ps. Torslanda factory opened May-June. Probably starting full production in August 64 (after the summer holidays) by manufacturing the 1965 models…Ds.

    Did you watch the Car SOS episode because in their build they did replace the front wings which were sourced from a wrecker in the UK. Granted a long time ago but if you watched it you may be able to find out where they were as they had other parts. Glad to see the workshop is getting sorted out as it looks well thought out.

      Hi Marc, it was me. I have just watched that episode again to see if I could find out any information on the yard were Tim got the front wings. Not much was given up except that it is a specialist Volvo breaking yard that cover 4 acres and the front looked like an old petrol station forecourt out the front. The episode also has them going to a UK based Volvo specialist parts dealer. Not much more was offered up on them again. Have fun.
