Great to see progress on the Amazon. A pleasure to watch the master at work.
Thanks Darren I feel this one is a slow burner through helping others with their cars but it will be so worth it in the end.
Love to see an OG Volvo getting restored, the jolly music towards the end reflects the mood! Appreciate you man!
Thanks buddy glad your enjoying this one honestly loving working on her. Can’t wait to the day she drives 👍
If only I had your skills to tackle my 62 Amazon. Enjoying watching your progress 👍
Thanks Stace. All the best with your project. Stay tuned there is another video this week 👍
Great to see progress on this iconic car, I love that this car is getting the full treatment from you thanks 😃
Thanks glad uour enjoying it. Can’t wait to get this one on the road. It’s a childhood dream for sure. Cheers
Love seeing new metal going in. Careful what you say ‘ONLY sills and arches’ don’t temp fate.
Yeah its so nice to see from fresh going in. haha I know fingers crossed got to be positive I guess thanks for watching.
Love your channel. Please keep the Volvo content flowing.
Thanks scott! Don’t worry this Volvo is going nowhere more coming soon.
@@SimpsonsClassics I have mad envy over your shop BTW. Wish I had a place that nice to turn a wrench.
@@scottkerns2253 it’s been a long time coming buddy and is still a big undertaking but really love it.
When the car is your dream, then you take all the time in the world to get it the way you want it and considering the effort you put into the Minis. you would be mad to rush ti.
Cheers Ross appreciate your comment, yeah I want to take my time to get this as nice a I can but also to a half decent time scale, so I can enjoy it :)
Fun too follow 👍once a volvo always a volvo💥
Thanks buddy glad your enjoying this one 👍
I just finished both sides myself . Wish I had the guys tip of tacking in the fender!
It was definitely helpful on the other side now 👍
Awesome just keep pushing forward
Thanks buddy
Yay! More Amazon content!
Glad your enjoying it buddy!
looks good, comming along nice...
Thanks buddy enjoying working on this one.
You're lucky having the left door post intact, on my '69 Amazon it was completely gone, totally rusted up....
Yeah I was happy to find those pillars are ok. Hope you get your Amazon sorted 👍
@@SimpsonsClassics I already did, 8 years ago🙃😀
But not without a big struggle, except the panels under the wings where one was already done and the other one, on the driver's was intact, but more or less everything else, part of the floors, cross members under the car, etc, etc....
I kinda like the old Volvo estates now!!
AHA Cool cant beat an old Volvo! Thanks for watching!
Coming along nicely..First time I changed these inner wings was back in the 90s. The channel that houses the speed clips is water drain.. I used to spray paint up inside to protect it.
Nice work..howes that front cross member under the radiator looking?
@@mikediggins15 thanks for watching. Yes I plan to fill this with paint and wax so this doesn’t happen again. The front cross member is in really good shape to be fair. 👍
That’s coming along nicely and worth taking your time to get it right. You’ve certainly got plenty of projects to keep us entertained in 2023..👍
Thanks buddy glad you enjoyed it. Oh yeah we have plenty to come don’t worry.
Great video mate 👍. Love the amazon 😄
Thanks buddy 👍
Everytime I look at your Amazon I think " you know. that thing looks kind of odd" Then I remember it's a 4 door. lol
Haha yeah more doors is always a plus for me.
Nice work !!
Thanks buddy
Great work as always dude . Satisfying to watch it come together
Thanks 👍
I'm so thankful that my 67 Amazon was virtually rust free when I started the restoration. Unfortunately I'm on to my 77 MGB now and it's mostly iron oxide and holes. To call it Swiss cheese is doing a disservice to Swiss cheese. I feel your pain. Weld on brother!
Thanks David. Believe it or not this is good for a uk car now. It’s far less work than any classic mini in my workshop so happy this is all I have to deal with. Cheers of watching buddy 👍
Nice work Mark
Happy New Year
Thanks, you too!
👍👍👍
Fascinating. I wonder whether you have a record of how much time you have spent on the Amazon? Keeping our 60 year old Volvos on the road never really makes any sense, but that isn’t really the point, is it?
Well done, I’m looking forward to the next episode.
I do have a rough idea of the time I have spent on it but this one is truly a labour of love as I have wanted one of those for for to long now. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more 👍
I can empathise Marc, I had that manky flu bug over Xmas, ok now though. Take your time and you do you with this restoration, its your car and that's the main thing that's important, not how quickly you do it. Happy New Year to you and Mrs S.
Thanks Graeme I hope your feeling better now. I battled through and got the job done. Happy new year! Stay tuned for more on this one. 👍
@@SimpsonsClassics I am well now thanks Marc, had a rough couple of months with my physical health but it's behind me now. All ready for watching my UA-cam favourites doing what they do best.
@@graemew7001 oh I am glad your feeling better and in a much better place. Roll on 2023 👍
Great video! And I can appreciate ho long it takes, had no time to do any on mine
Thanks buddy glad you enjoyed it 👍
Great progress already, love it
Cheers Ian 👍
Next gift for me welding helmet if you can recommend one cheap; got the welder but no helmet
Oh cool. This is the one use. It’s great really impressed with it. There is slightly cleaner ones in the range to. www.frost.co.uk/eastwood-large-view-auto-darkening-welding-helmet-l6700/
Has the engine still got its old oil filter fitted. Cutting the can open to reveal the element is a quick way to check if your going to come across major problems. A filter full of glitter would mean the engine’s probably seized because it’s eaten itself!!
Yes I believe it does still have the filter on it. That’s a great idea thanks 👍
@@SimpsonsClassics I work for Caterpillar as a fitter, it’s one of our first failure diagnosis procedures, and also once an engine has been rebuilt after first run up cut the filter open and check there’s no signs of problems.
@@Teuchter-Jim cheers appreciate the tips 👍
Great to see you back on the Amazon and making good progress 2 quick questions if I may . What wire are you using for the welder .6 or .8 and what are them little clamps called that your using to hold the inner wing on .. keep up the good work 💪
John, the little lamps are called intergrips
@@ianelwell8000 thanks for that . They look really handy for butt welding
Yea they are excellent buddy.
Thanks buddy I am using .8 wire and those little clamps are as mentioned below called intergrips they are a great little tool to have for butt welding etc 👍
@@SimpsonsClassics thanks mate . Still getting used to the new welder I may turn down the volts a little 🤣
where are your fire extinguishers
Near my shelving. Don’t worry I am equipped.
Please, please please use a welding blanket over the interior, I was cringing when you were grinding and the sparks were heading inside!😟
It’s next to come out don’t worry there is nothing near where I was working it’s all stripped out but the seats are coming out before I start the other side also to inspect the floors etc
👍👍👍
