- Usain Bolt Criticises NEW Spike Technology As An Unfair Advantage!
Welcome back to Tech Craze, today on the channel we are going to talk about Usain Bolt criticising advances in spike technology + other related content. Usain Bolt said that advances in spike technology that could help wipe out his world records are laughable and that the new shoes also give an unfair advantage over any athletes not wearing them. After athletes ripped through the record books in distance running with carbon-plated, thick-soled shoes, the technology has now moved into sprint spikes, where - although there is less time in a race for the advantage to make an impact - it is still enough to make a difference.
“When I was told about it I couldn’t believe that this is what we have gone to, you know what I mean? That we are really adjusting the spikes to a level where it’s now giving athletes an advantage to run even faster,” Bolt told Reuters in an interview from Kingston. The 100m and 200m world record holder and eight-time Olympic champion competed in Puma spikes throughout his career. “It’s weird and unfair for a lot of athletes because I know that in the past they [shoe companies] actually tried and the governing body said ‘no, you can’t change the spikes’, so to know that now they are actually doing it, it’s laughable.” American Trayvon Bromell is favourite to take Bolt’s 100m title in Tokyo. He is the fastest in the world over the distance this year with 9.77s, but the 2015 world 100m bronze medallist is less convinced about the impact of the shoes. Bolt himself beated older records bcuz he didnt have to run on dirt and with shitass spikes, thats how the sport works, progress
With other technology is it was a level playing field.. and spikes have been somewhat the same for years... Where now if you have the maxfly you automatically have an edge over than a guy who has what is considered a normal spike... I get its innovative etc.. but it would make more sense if it was a standard thing . Like everyone has the bubble.. the other brands are trying but all the pros ive spoken to (sponsored by nike and other brands) says the maxfly is ahead by far
yeah, this is absolutly not the same lmao
@@rivaldoroberts9966 many agree that the sp2 is on a similar level and a better shoes for 200m
@@jouisimo5701 it is im sorry
@@Maxistanca when did they switch from dirt to tartan😂!? inform urself
What, should we go barefoot on grass again? Today's non-carbon plate shoes are light years ahead of the ones Jessie Owens ran in, as is the track. (If its unfair because some people cant afford them... I get it.) But to ban technology because it makes times faster seem contradictory to having all weather tracks and electronic starters blocks etc. These things are all... OK but better shoes are not? Should Bolts times be adjusted for cinder tracks and leather shoes?
the way they pronounced eliud kipchoge💀💀
ikr
IMO we’re already past the point of technological advantage. So long as we’ve surpassed the point of running barefoot it’s already a lost battle. As long as the shoe doesn’t return more energy than the runner puts down I don’t have a problem
“kipchags”😭😭😭😭😭😭
Well just think about someone like Jesse Owens if he had Bolts technology and science. Food, track and spikes
Gahlee this guy butchered some names here 🤣🤣😭 I do agree with Usain though.
To be honest I love seeing the innovation. It also makes headlines that grow the sport. Never compare athletes over generations because the newer ones will always have an advantage, appreciate them all for what they achieved in their time.
they should banned Nike Air Zoom Maxfly, it so unfair for other runners who’s not wearing it.
Should they also band the nike zoom superfly elite 2 as well?
@@johnsonbangura3074 the superfly doesn’t have a zoom bubble
@@johnsonbangura3074 no

Nothing except for your wallet stopping you from getting a pair though.
How is it cheating if everyone has access to it. Skill or no, if everyone has the same level of tech it still comes down to who trains harder and runs faster. That goes for all sports.
other companies just need to catch up.
We should bring back leather football helmets
It’s unfair how long his strides are when short people struggle😭
great video, deserves much more attention
The thumbnail isn’t even the maxflys
But doping is ok right?
He and everyone else was on steroids
Great video! honestly, as time passes tech gets better and better, so this is inevitable, i say allow it. I mean the distance variation was allowed.
Yuliud kipchoj??????
Give the athletes technology to enhance their abilities not give them EXTRA abilities.
Steroids?
