I ranked every roller coaster at Heide Park Resort in Soltau Germany! This amazing theme park is one of the best in Germany, and a personal favorite of mine!
Big Loop was the tallest Looping-coaster in europe when it opened, and of course you would say that this ride needs to be demolished but for me, since its my homepark, it has a place in my heart because its nostalgic and not that bad...
People give collosos flack for being slow not on the 1st or last third of the ride but for that huge slow boring helix that you can play a whole game of monopoly in before it ends. It’s also the reason it’s not my fav wooden rollercoaster, replace that helix with something better and it would be much higher for me Edit: also the theming of Colossos is great, until you’re in its mouth and you can tell that it’s a bunch of containers, not even hiding with a black curtain, just plain shipping containers.
I think part of the bad rep for Desert Race is that for it to work good with a German audience, the park would need to invest more into the theming. Desert Race always struck me as kinda 'barren' - which given the desert motiv isn't totally wrong, but... you can do more theme wise with the desert than this coaster does. Flug der Dämonen had the nifty castle structures from the discontinued water ride to run through and they really did a numer theme wise on Colossos during the rebuilding phase.... Desert Race can't compete with that, so it never plays to it's full potential.
Been to both Hansa Park and Heide Park myself recently, Heide being my home park of the two. Colossos is really underrated because it's sort of a gamble how strong the airtime you get is, for one, weather conditions play a big role, secondly, whether the trims hit or not is important and thirdly, you only get the cream of the crop in the very back row. Very refreshing to hear your thoughts on Heideparks roller coasters. I’ve always had a soft spot for Desert Race, apart from the barren look it’s a great ride. Krake is is fun, and Colossos is a an amazing ride, ride it first when I was around 10-11 and I remember being really terrified. Since I’ve ridden El Toro though, it’s always going to feel like a tamer version of it. Have you done El Toro?
I haven't ridden Indy blitz, here is my ranking: 8: Bobbahn-uncomftorble 7: Grottenblitz-not to exciting but the cave is good 6: Big loop- it is rough but the loopings are good but the corkscrews are bullsh*t 5: Toxic garden- good, actually underradet. Good positives but a bit rough. 4- Dessert race: Airtime good, soundtrack good, positives good, launch good. but short and no theming 3- Krake: you have on every element soo good floater airtime and i like it 2- Flug der dämonen: Rough and boring layout. only 3 elements are good and the soundtrack. 1- Colossos: Good floater to flojecktor airtimebon the hills. Theming is good and of course the drop with eyejector airtime.
Another Nice Theme-park for you to Checkout would be the Tivoli Theme Park in Copenhagen Denmark. Been there a few times in my Childhood and it has a lovely charm to it. Plus it is right in the City if I can remember correctly so you can also explore Copenhagen.
I don't hear good things about Big Loop ever but... It really belongs to the park, it would be really sad to see it being replaced eith something entirely different! Maybe a spiritual successor could work.
