If you actually liked this you need to run the “Obsolete” gambit. That includes reading the liner notes in conjunction with the tracks. This is a conceptual album that is only whole as described/prescribed above. Enjoy
I totally agree with this, the whole Obsolete album story was amazing. It tells the story of dystopia where humanity has become Obsolete to machines, which seems very similar to our current societal trajectory with coming of AI and a post scarcity world. The hero of the story is the Edgecrusher, who was the character we saw in this video and that is also the name of one of the song titles. The albums before and after this were both good. Unfortunately FF went through a bunch of turmoil after the 4th album, fist fights, legal issues, love triangles. They put things back together a few times, but it was never the same. FF was probably a huge Influence on numerous bands in the 2000's. They were once of the first to mix the more harsh guttural vocals with the clean vocals that became the norm for bands like KSE and Trivium.
The story would make a truly good movie as a essentially rock opera but it can easily tie into current society with social media as securitron....love frea factory and I hate that they are no more but I'm glad the dry lung vocal martyr will still be kept on the new album there is so much power from their music and so underappreciated
You might want to check out other songs by them. Shock, Demanufacture, Edgecrusher, and Bodyhammer! Much harder and something worth your time. Keep it rocking!
I've been rocking Fear Factory since I first found out about him in the late 90s. I always thought it was cool that their music had a very futuristic ....sort of Blade Runner or Terminator vibe to it.
Fear Factory were wayyyy ahead of their time, man. I've seen them live a few times and even got to hang out with them when Raymond and Christian were still in the band! I was even in the front row in 2005 during Gigantour. Great guys. Also great reaction! 🤘
If Fear Factory hasn’t scared you off, I can totally recommend their tracks “Self Bias Resistor” and “Replica” as fantastic next tracks that you could check out. Plus, in both of those tracks, you’ll also get a chance to hear more of what the nonclean vocals from their lead singer, Burton C. Bell, sound like. (And I think his nonclean vocals are just as powerful as his cleans!)
Self Bias Resistor is the reason I'm still alive. Back in 2007 I went through a really messy break up with my fiance. It left me in ruins, partially homeless for a time. I was going towards either prison or death. Fear Factory was already my favorite band at the time but one day, Self Bias Resistor hit me different. It picked me up. Dusted me off. Made me want to live again and I did. Better than I ever had before.
That dude really felt the emotion in that final verse and who can blame him. I see a tear in his eye and that's ok bro because who don't when that final bit drops. A classic track.
More Fear Factory to check out: Linchpin Freedom or Fire Zero Signal Spinal Compression Archetype Edgecrusher Bite the Hand That Bleeds, just for starters.
Your welcome, thanks for doing that. Like other commenters are saying it might not be their heaviest or best song but it's one that means a lot to me. Cheers
An album needs both heavy and softer tracks to work for me. It's about flow, you need silence to appreciate noise, you need darkness to appreciate light. It's one of the thing I love about FF, they aren't afraid to put more ballardy tracks on their albums, Expiration Date is one of my favourite tracks by them.
Man.....i remember buying the Obsolete record back in 1998 when it was released and how I was truly amazed by it......one of THE best modern metal records ever made
Zero Signal. The best song they've ever written. You will not be disappointed. From the opening futuristic ominous sounds from the industrial machine to the final note on the piano, it will rip your soul to pieces and make you feel insignificant.
FF was a game changer for the metal scene. After them, every band incorporated the hybrid clean-gutural vocal works, the drum-guitar surgical tightness, and the sound signature was copied from one new band to another, but the futuristic transhuman topic, the self destruction human behavior and the critics to the actual belief system, is FF. They are no conspiracionists, but nihilists with a clear vision of what's happening and what's coming. They were absolute pioneers, and they still rock!! Burton's vocals are damaged and it's sad, but their sound is solid and lyrics are still deep in point to actual human worst fears, you shoud check 'Enhanced Reality'. Hope they can release the new album as lawsuits end for good.
Fear Factory's Obsolete album is still, and will always be, one of my favorite albums of all time, and this is my favorite song on the album. so glad there are at least some reactors checking it out. highly recommend more from Obsolete if you liked this. also, if you happen to particularly like Burton's voice, there are a couple songs from a side project he had some years back called Ascension of the Watchers. "On The River" is a super mellow ride, with Burton singing. no screaming or anything, just singing. ua-cam.com/video/ZeEr8Y8ho80/v-deo.html
This album is a concept album. The whole album plays out as a story where each song is an act. The liner notes set and clear the stage for every song. This particular song is kind of the requiem for Edgecrusher (The Cyborg Protagonist dude) and helps him to understand the relics of a bygone era in the lore of the album. I recommend getting a bottle of something nice and listening to this album from front to back reading the liner notes between each song. It is an experience for sure!
Burton C Bell is definitely one of the very best vocalists in Metal, and thats really saying something because Metal music is LOADED with insanely talented singers. Bell has so much raw power
Hey I’m from Mississippi! Saw these guys play this outside off the beach in Gulfport at sunset! Awesome experience!! 1995!! Check out there other jams!!
I'd love to hear more Fear Factory reactions. Edgecrusher and Lynchpin were probably their biggest club hits. Smasher/Devourer (which has the "prepare for salvation" line featured in the video) is one of my faves. Also I don't expect a reaction video of it but the whole album is worth a listen right through as it tells a story of mankind's redemption from an apocalyptic, machine-ruled dystopia.
This song is their masterpiece IMO. People will say Demanufacture is the better album and they might be right but everything that's amazing about Fear Factory is summed up in this one track. It's brutal and melodic, uplifting somehow, it tells a story, it's epic as hell
if you like this style look into Sybreed, Mnemic, Isolated antagonist, Theory Exx, Conflict, Threat Signal, A Dark Halo....so many more I could go on for a bit
One just can get enough of Fear Factotry. Started listening to them in 99 or early 2000s. I really love this band, one of my all time favourite bands. This is one of their most epic songs. But there is a lot. DEMANUFACTUR Album is their masterpiece.
The music video is a bit of a shortened version. Some of the impact is lost in my opinion. The full version takes time build each section of the song. Still good though.
I will do the" Cha Cha " in front of City hall in Philadelphia pa..... naked and by myself if there is ONE person that can tell me what this song is about. 💃💃🕴👣👣👏👏
wow, that took me back to my time in elementary in Ontario. I remember being an American and singing the national anthem all through grade school until we moved to Canada and I had to learn their national anthem. Great connection, I can't un-hear this now.
@@TheAdventuresofTNT that was the first thing I said when I first heard this song. I think Fear Factory should record their version of the Canadian national anthem

Definitely More FEAR FACTORY bro!!
The first Mortal Kombat movie was my into to Fear Factory. Zero Signal is the music for the fight between Scorpion and Johnny Cage.
Oh wow, I didn’t know that. That was my favorite fight scene in the movie although they did scorpion wrong

I love their older stuff. I think he'd like Lynchpin.
Due to the graphic nature of this program listener discretion is advised.
nekrospike tbh I think Demanufacture is their best album
Thank you Very much for checking FF out.

My favorite song by fear factory is fear champagne.

Fear Factory, Expiration date or Final exit are also amazing.
Disturbed, the light.
Edgecrusher was one of my childhood heroes.

this version of the song is heavily edited

Studio version is better. That whole Obsolete album is killer.
I hate this short form edit of this song. Give me the original
