Descent was my very first fear factory song I heard. I heard it when wwe was WWF in 98 and I couldn't get enough of it. Been my fav band since 98! Fear factory for life!

All you need to know about metal and its mix of vocals since the mid 90s:
Fear Factory created the entire genre. Go back to Soul of A New Machine. They broke ground with their debut album, with a death metal sound mixed with clean vocals.
They were looked at like fools, the masses turned their noses up at them, but they followed up with their 2nd release, Demanufacture. Metal changed as a whole from that album and they were no longer the weird guys.
Finally someone gets it!! Fear Factory is very seldom spoken of for their impact on metal and music as a whole.
@@ooooa9046 Maybe not publicly but many many bands have listed FF as an influence on them, particularly the ones that mix hard/clean vocals on a regular basis
This is my favorite band. Fear Factory is not capable of making a bad song.

Got to see this live on the tour following the album. Hearing the drummer Gene Hoglan hitting the double bass in this song was a religious experience. I could feel it in my sinuses.

Fear Factory are the gold standard for industrial-ish style metal, and have achieved that distinction despite being underrated and poorly known of on an unbelievable, abhorrent level. Yet you play any of their songs and the reaction is generally what you see in this video: surprise, happiness, and vertebra-endangering headbanging. Rock directly the fuck on, D&T Squad \m/

Got to see this group back in 2005. They were part of a tour that featured Megadeth, Anthrax, and Nevermore, among others. Bruised a few ribs, bloody nose, had severe tinnitus for a few weeks after, and I wouldn't have had it any other way 🤘

Had the same reaction listening to fear factory the first time. I was listening to nirvana , alice in chains , at the time they were like nothing I heard before abnormally heavier than pantera , sepultura , faster than slayer , even the dino's signature mechanical staccato riffs were way ahead of their time. I had never heard anything so heavy devastatingly brutal it felt like my head I got drilled runed over by a panzer tank finished off by a brontosaurus crushing me in a corner pulled out of napalm deaths butt. Never heard a sound like it before when I saw the video for replica. Been a fan since demanufacture. And power shifter was even heavier than replica or self bias resistor. Welcome to the world of fear factory !

The Industrialist is a great album. If you want to check out some other good albums by Fear Factory I'd check out Obsolete, Demanufacture, and Genexus. All really great albums.
