Fun fact the scenes when Snatcher is having his allergic reaction the face molds were so complicated that the 3D printer that could print 100 face molds at a time could only print like 12 of them and they took over an hour to print.

Another fun fact: Ben Kingsley spoke with only half of his mouth open to capture the sound of Snatcher's swollen lips when he has an allergic reaction
Not surprised. Stop motion films take a long ass time. They started working on this 3 years before the release date I think.

He's clearly insane so he just choses to deny the reality so it can fit in his imaginary utopy where he's powerful and rich

He's not stupid; Snatcher is just desperate to gain respect and power, and the best way to do that is to become a member of the White Hats, who are known for their love of fine cheeses. If he can't join them in the tasting room, he feels he wouldn't be their equal, so he ignores his obvious cheese fits so he doesn't have to think about it.
Especially since he lives in a town obsessed with cheese he just accepts it as “it ain’t good for me but I must consume it”
Snatcher repeats Trout's description of the extra, extra mild cheddar later, about an entirely different cheese.

I think it’s kind of how the allergy works. He slurs his word a little once it kicks in, so it would make sense that, if he’s trying to sound sophisticated, he’d repeat the last sophisticated thing out cheese he could remember, since when it comes up the first time he couldn’t think of the words.
Gristle just staring down Snatcher like he’s waiting for the allergic reaction to start.

We need more of these kinds of animated movies. Ones that push boundries, have some darkness to 'em.

I love him much detail this scene has. From how Snatcher is purposely give the smallest portion due to his allergy, to how Gristle never eats his cheese and just watches Snatcher, awaiting the inevitable. I love this movie.
The weirdest thing about this scene is that the small guy finds all of what's happening right now as entertainment to himself and whatnot
Mr Gristle is a little bit evil, I knew he was probably not going to be redeemed in the end.

You gotta love how, ignoring Snatcher's cheese allergies, even one of his minions, Mr. Trout I think, was a lot more eloquent in his cheese degustation and flavor description than Snatcher himself, to the point he literally copies what he said at the end of the movie. The guy was just _not_ cut for that stuff.

One of the more underrated animated villains. He's funny yet totally ruthless and has a desperate, yet self-destructive motivation. You love to hate him but also feel a little bit bad at how he goes out
One of my favourite things (that I didn't notice until my second viewing of the film) is the cheese itself in this scene; From what I gather, true cheese-connoisseurs seek out rare types of cheese, usually with pretty strong and interesting flavors to them.
Apart from them trying their best to not trigger the boss' fits, the fact that they're not only eating one of the most common types of cheese in the world (cheddar) but also the extra extra mild version of it really shows how Snatcher only cares about appearances and prestige above all.
I just love that Mr Pickles actually finishes most of his cheese.

I really like how he put himself in physical danger by trying to match up to high society. Just shows the problems with society at the time.

Archibald Snatcher’s favorite thing was also the thing that could kill him. His love for the thing that could kill him is what brought him his demise.
There are so many pieces of cheese for me to try from all over the world but NOT goat cheese!
Ironically he doesn't even like cheese ! Both times he really looks like he's forcing himself to swallow. His pleased reaction also comes with a delay.
Added to that, the fact that he cannot even bring himself to describe how cheese taste (he repeats what he hears the first time during the second tasting.) nor even find an adjective for the smell aside from "cheesy"
He's faking out as much as he can because for some reason, he decided to associate cheese to success in high society along with hats.
This scene embodys snatchers obsession with moving up in society.
He will go so far to obtain status that his efforts are self destructive in nature.

First time I watched this scene I had to take the movie out of full screen it made me so uncomfortable

Apparently, his swollen face was so difficult to animate in claymation. They had to animate it first in cgi and 2D just to see how it needed to actually move.
Just imagine how hard it was then to animate his final scenes where he was a horrifically swollen mess!

I felt really bad for the guy. All he wanted was a place to enjoy cheese with other cheese oristacrats. Yet fate had other plans 😢I feel bad for the guy who was just delt the wrong hand in life 😞
His subordinates are actually really nice guys to try and prevent him from eating cheese and making sure to get the weakest possible cheeses so their boss doesn’t hurt himself they even turn the table and cut the cheese real slow to give their boss more time to think on if this is really a good idea

When Archibald Snatcher eats the first cheese on a dish with a fork, his face surely gets itchy that his lower lip bulges into a larger size and then the right side of his face becomes swollen. Actually, his torso becomes overweighted, his left hand enlarges and his right foot swells into a thicker size.

even tho this movie has some flaws i kinda want to overlook them as this "kids" movie is so grotesque and over the top it's great.
What's the flaws to you? I personally only saw it for the first time the other day and I personally think it's one of the most original and high quality family films I've ever seen. I dare even say it's the best thing Laika put out. Snatcher himself is probably the best villain I've seen in an animated movie.
