I was fishing by the new pier at by Charlie's Pasture when it came through.

Hey Charles. Thank you amigo. It's a bit windy, but the sun is shining. Once you get out of the wind, it's actually very nice. I have to go take Luciano to at least three places and probably again on Monday since that will be the first. I hope you and your family are well my friend and have an excellent Easter.

It was a modular unit. Could be for an off shore rig. It was coming in at the time to go to Kiewit in Ingleside, where they work on those things.

I was hoping you would tell me what that is, I’ve seen it down there before, if I recall correctly it was docked near Aransas Pass one year when we went thru and I pondered the same question that you titled this video. I gather it’s something to do with oil drilling or the like. Maybe my brother will know he works in the gulf doing Oceaneering, he operated equipment that goes down and inspects pipelines along the ocean floor.
Morning Valerie. There were three oil rigs right by the ferry that were moved to Turkey. Sold as scrap metal. That happened several years ago. This is new construction coming out of Ingleside. I'm sure it's oil related. Either for an offshore drilling platform or perhaps a component For a refinery. I'm sure someone will know exactly and leave a comment at some point.

Good morning Frank. I have a friend that did some of the welding on that project. Apparently it's built in sections in Ingleside and then shipped off to the next place for assembly and additional work. Sometimes South Korea. Sometimes turkey. Pretty impressive.
That is a long way to ship something of that size
@frankmutz3048 I don't know if you remember the free oil rigs that were stored for years right by the ferry. All three were eventually hold off the turkey for scrap metal oddly enough they don't involve any of their decisions. 👍😀👍

@@frankmutz3048 I have videos on it. They used the large tugboats to haul them out to the open water, where apparently they were tethered to larger boats out in the open sea. One of them was stuck and had four failed attempts to get it out of the muck. I do miss those because you could see them from Rockport.

It’s called a module, and is probably going to the LNG facility over there. Back in the day all this would be built on site, now they put together like puzzle pieces!!! With cheap Labor!!! World class bolt up hands!!

Good morning Dennis! I will always enjoy watching the ship traffic despite what happened in Baltimore this week. My guess is that huge structure is a modular component for the refinery they're building in your area. Looks like a collection of what's called "pipe bridges" which would go between the bigger units. Looks like you've had some lovely weather there this week, thanks for the relaxing look at the area. Have an awesome day my friend!
Hello friend. I was thinking refinery as well but if they were going directly to our local refineries, they wouldn't need to leave Corpus Christi Bay. They were headed outward bound. Could be the basis for part of a bigger unit that is being worked on someplace else. I need to check the South jetty newspaper. They usually have full stories when items like that pass by.
