We knew the original Mr. Farley when I was a teen in the ‘60s. He couldn’t have been nicer. My Dad was in a club called the Wrambling Wrecks made up of 100% disabled veterans. The club had a club house at Port Aransas and every year there was a big fishing tournament. Mr. Farley was not a member but went out of his way to help the club in many ways. Thank you for the memories!
Port Aransas is an interesting place. I worked there for a period of time taking the ferry twice a day. First off, there’s nowhere to live on the island. Everything is vacation rental. There’s a small handful of people who live there but there’s no industry. The entire place is empty until the weekends when the city people come to their beach houses. Nobody wants to work there bc it’s 45 minutes from Corpus one way or a 45 minute wait to get on the ferry. It honestly looks like a ghost town Monday-Thursday.
wow thats crazy i never see videos about port a, i live a couple minutes there and used to work as a deckhand on the ferries, wonderful place, if a bit expensive
Hello, my husband and I try to go down to Port Aransas every year for vacation. It's our favorite place to be. Snoopy's under the bridge is one of our favorite places to eat, you gotta try it and Port A Pizzaria is our favorite place to get pizza 🍕🏖️🌴
My father and myself stayed at the Fulton mansion in 1968..They were a wonderful family and had a party for him. There was dancing and singing and he entertained. He was so very happy. He was an excellent father. And the Fulton family large and very kind.
Golf carts, the bane of Port A. I love Port A, we've been going there for 25+ years, but we avoid it during the 100 days of summer. We moved from Austin to North Padre Island recently, loving the beach life.
I remember my father being friends with them too. They showed me how they warmed the wood to fit the frame and curve the wood. They took me on a sail and the fishing was excellent. 1968. Everyone loved my father!
Every summer at least one time, sometimes twice :p That little drinking town, with a fishing problem ;) The rattlesnakes are kinda strange for a candy shop, but whatever....They don't have the snakes anymore.
Come back and do a new episode. You need to check out the all new Sip Yard. 3 story observation view witu a 2 story bar. Food vendors including Pizza, Chinese Food, Seafood, Tacos, Coffee Waves shop. Plus a live music stage.
Port A and Corpus are cool but if you are going surfing keep driving south to SPI. I grew up surfing Galveston, Surfside and Matagorda. If the swell is out of the SE go to SPI especially if there is some size to the swell.
I remember my father being friends with the Fulton's and we visited. I remember jumping on and off the trees in the yard and the swing with a tire and rope. He had so much fun pushing me on the swing on the Fulton's property on the water. I remember the tree house. I remember him singing to myself and impersonating Nat King Cole as we sat on the dock on the bay fishing.
Summertime Port A is a tourist trap nightmare. If y’all like that kinda stuff like overpaying for most things. The beach is the only thing worth the 12$ parking fee.
I’m the assistant manager at the Dairy Queen in port A Would love for yall to come by and let us treat u to the best fast food and ice cream desserts in port a! Come see us! I’m watching your port a video right now wish yall would have stopped by!!😊 come see us!
It was my father's best spot to spoil me with ice cream. I remember him owning a beach house overlooking the Bay on Mustang drive. We'd walk to Dairy Queen and your staff was very kind to my furry pets too. Thank you for the pup cups.
MY husband and I went down before Harvey from Iowa lived in RV for the winter. Stayed at a campground walking distance to the water ,for fishing. We loved it people so friendly. Was going back the next year but he passed from cancer. Lots of memories fore thank you.❤
Can't believe you didn't include the harbor (other than st. joe ferry) area... Virginia's On The Bay is ICONIC. However, glad to see you included Tarpon Inn.
sorry but the host is not funny by any means and it does hurt the show. the show has enough good elements to be good, doesn't need to have a comedic side to add to it. those side skits was very lame, just stick to the town's features and good.
@@G.Freeman92 No Jobs, takes 2 parents, if one parent (then 3 jobs) , 80s and 90s gang members getting out of prison, new youngster gangs, corpus is a drug hub so being right there, they spread next door to port A. Same thing happened to our beautiful SOUTH Padre Island 😔. And yes , way too many homeless, population vs job career ratio. I'm selling one of my properties down there as I'm overwhelmed by the crimes. Corpus and Port A are in 2 different counties but next to each other. Mustang Island makes me sick the way it's been getting trashed up. We call that the island of stitches as the bull sharks have given more stitches and limb removal than anywhere here do to the red tide from being a curve island. Ferry also takes forever sometimes. I stay at Port Royal resort when having a get together but after Harvey, many insurance lawsuits,😡, and a condo is over 600 a night for season and 200-300 off season. Plus developers are clogging the quaint town to be pray for Corpus thugs.

Every state needs this kind of program 😊
Not many states are big enough or interesting enough to warrant them. God bless Texas.
I’ve been to Port Aransas a few times it's a great place to visit the people are nice and the water is fairly clean. Awsome video Chett!
One of my best places to visit. Let's go surfing now. Everyone is learning how. And the great food.
crazy to see port a before Harvey again, its changed so much
Port aransas was gonna be the new homeport to battleship wisconsin-bb-64., but never happened😁😁🤠
$$$$$$$$$$ toooo much
Love Port A❤❤❤❤❤❤

Excellent, merci pour tout .

Man I’m so ready to get out of the hustle and buss of Austin. Me and my wife are considering getting a place in the Corpus Christi area.
I grew up in Houston and two of my buddies Dads built a couple boats in their garages. Way Cool!
I remember my father being friends with them too. They showed me how they warmed the wood to fit the frame and curve the wood. They took me on a sail and the fishing was excellent. 1968. Everyone loved my father!
I've been living in Texas for 10 years and I still haven't gone to Port Aransas lol I've been invited lots of times
Yes, black & red licorice.
Every summer at least one time, sometimes twice :p That little drinking town, with a fishing problem ;) The rattlesnakes are kinda strange for a candy shop, but whatever....They don't have the snakes anymore.
I work in Port A and had never seen or knew of Roosevelts cool
the point they try and surf the tiny waves is funny.
I would go to the candy shop JUST for the licorice!!!
Can't recommend Shells and Snoopy's in Port A - seafood done fancy and seafood done fried (respectively) but both incredible in their own ways!
Shells has sadly closed
@@3cadventures311 that's so sad to hear, I always looked forward to eating there when I got to Port A

I'm gonna need Marty and his staff to put on some gloves while prepping the food 🤔
I had a POF date on Padre Island many years ago. She said, bring wine, cheese a blanket and condoms... I think you found our message in a bottle 😀

I have a house in Rockport I think you should go there

" I want to go to there" Someone is a 30 Rock fan😊
Skid row supposedly. Long way away from San Diego waves.
These videos are a lot older than the upload date

Sand Dollars have birds inside them. Break one open over like black paper dark paper

Was this after Harvey?
Looks like it was before Harvey. Salty Dog was leveled and later rebuilt. Looks like they were at the old Salty Dog.
This was filmed before Harvey.

Golf carts ruined the town, they’re so annoying!
How annoying?
So
Really annoying!
🤣🤣🤣
Galveston > Port A 💯
Galveston is gross AF
Look up the crime rate in Port A now. Mustang island is now trashy.
Shame. Is it homeless crime or gang?
