Have fun learning :)
Okay so as a beginner, you will get this a lot, learn chords, scales, music theory, but also bring in some fun don't just learn that, learn covers of your favorite song, try to learn by ear after 2-3 months of playing. Scales will help you find chords this is why scales are important cause it helps you find what key you are in. But again at the end of the day just have fun when not practicing.

Amazing job for just 3 months! As a guitarist with 15 years or so of experience I think I have few tips that may help you a lot if you didn't fix them already since its a bit old of a video :) - The way you hold the pick is weird, kind like you are holding a pen, which makes picking the strings a much harder task that what it could be and builds a lot of tension. - Don't be shy to use your pinky in the fretting hand during solos, it may take a bit to make it strong enough but it helps a lot into flowing a bit more confortably through the keyboard. - You are already starting with a strong sense of rhythm, which for most guitarist it takes years of work to get to this point (I image you have a solid background in other instruments or dance or something idk). You can get quite good results in a year or so if you focus properly on hand posture, tension management and foundamental techniques like picking (upstrokes, downstrokes, alternate picking, economy picking), muting strings (for noise and for effects like palm muting), bending, hammer-ons, pull-offs and arpeggios... better if with the help of a teacher, but to be fair there are some youtube channels who have enough content about it to make a teacher redundant if you have enough discipline
If I may ask, do you have a guide or plan on what to learn next? I'm a beginner and I feel like i'm stuck after learning a few songs and basic strumming patterns and a few chords/power chords.. I wanna move forward to soloing and improvising and lead stuff in general.. there's just so much stuff idk where and how to start, anything would be of tremendous help ty!! x)
@@blursedd yup metronome and just start with short intro soloey bits like at the start of wish you were here, it was my first solo and I learned it on acoustic guitar but I can still remember it to this day and it definitely helped get basic techniques in place like bends (horrible on acoustic guitar), pull offs and hammer ons, a little bit of vibrato aswell, just find the value in very short solo bits that you like, it feels less daunting and it helps a lot
This is freaking amazing. It took me 3 months just to learn through the fire and flames (and i still make mistakes lmao), and you learned like 40 songs in that same timeframe. Awesome!
I’ve been playing for almost 4 years and it took me a solid 10 months to start making the progress you are. I found starting and being able to play anything incredibly difficult. And I bet it wasn’t easy for you either but the hard work is certainly paying off! Keep it up!
This is actually super inspiring to watch. I have wanted to learn the guitar for longer than I can remember! I always loved listening to my dad play as I fell to sleep, but I've never had the motivation to actually learn myself. I've tried a few times but I'd always lose steam after the first week or so when I didn't feel like I was making any progress. But seeing your 3 month progress helps me realize that if I just stick with it, I can do it! So thank you for posting this and thank you for inspiring me to finally pick up my guitar, sit down and learn to play for real. That's my 2023 goal, to learn to play guitar :)

Only if you scroll through comments for 10 minutes. Anyways, don't be hard to yourself. Guitaring is never ending learning and someone who never touched a guitar can expect her results after 1 year

Blues does help a lot and it's the basis for most genres but if you plan on getting into more modern prog and metal and mathrock-y songs, be advised that it feels like another language so I would recommend you just learn blues and stuff but start gravitating towards the style you want to have pretty early on because when you have 5 years of blues and rock experience and you start learning prog rock and metal and mathrock it's quite complicated

Simotaniously your music taste and guitar skill will increase and because its all about enjoyment and wonder of the guitar community and generosity from online teachers and tutorial channels that make beginners into professionals im only just a 2 year player and i can confidently say im at the intermediate stage because of my excessive hours of just having fun on guitar playing along to backing tracks and feeling cool keep up the work and i hope for anyone whos a beginner to take my advice and adapt it remotley into their practice by not making it a chore but a hobby
What I find really cool is how fast your picking hand finds the right strings, which I still struggle with since I started playing in August of 2021. It also seems that you have an ear for tempo and timing, keep it up!
I watch a lot of those progress compilations and what I always love to see as a guitar player myself is, how at the beginning everyone stares at the strings and fretboard and at some point it just comes naturally. Great progress!
the way that you hold the pick alone shows a lot of learning and progress it’s very inspiring to watch someone progress including all the imperfect attempts, i wanted to play electric guitar for a while now, I’ve been playing acoustic for 2 years and this video convinced me to get one ❤
Amazing progress, took me much longer, probably was less dedicated to it. Had my guitar for 10 Years and last year decided to get some private lessons. Still doing them today. I must say the awesome feedback of my teacher really helped me improve a lot. Some feedback was all i really needed to get started and knowing i was doing it right and not teaching myself something while i am probably playing it totally wrong. But anyway your self-taught guitar progress is really great! Keep playing and you'll always be improving!
man i recently passed my first year mark on my electric guitar and i have to say... WOW. You learned the basics incredably fast and that reminds me of when i started playing. You brought back some incredable moments and reminding me of how far ive come. You are incredable and please keep going!
Damn, now this is impressive. My brother has been taking guitar for the past couple years and his skill has definitely taken off, and it has me wondering if I should pick it up. Definitely will now, cheers!
as someone who's been playing for 5 years but also self-taught, learning and then succeeding is always so satisfying. good luck on your guitar journey and hopefully, you can expand to other instruments too! broadening your range while still self-taught is the ultimate power move
I started my guitar journey when I was 9-10, it's been 6-7 years since I began, from a self-taught guitarist to another, you're doing absolutely fantastic!
The struggle with Bohemian Rhapsody was so relatable. Thanks for showing the imperfect attempts, it's important that people see that. Having said that, I have no idea how you progressed so far in 3 months without having your fingers fall off. You're doing full bends, slides, hammer-ons and pull-offs, which should have destroyed a beginner's fingertips multiple times over. Did you have to take days off to let your fingers heal?
Thankyou :) and haha yes my fingers were dead but i’ve been playing the violin before so i guess my fingers were used to be put on strings hahah although guitar string are a bit stronger then the violins. I did rest when i couldn’t take it anymore haha
@@Meikedanielle same ive played violin for almost 3 years now and getting a guitar for my birthday which is in exactly 7 days! this video gives me a lot of motivation
I started studying classical guitar (…actually, flamenco) at the age of thirteen with no prior musical training whatsoever. So, only nylon strings and my fingers were cut and bleeding all the time. I still have a callous on the tip of my third finger that I have to sand with a 320 grit sanding sponge before I play my electric guitars, today! By the time I was fifteen, I was starting to transition to electric guitars.
I suspect the “secret” to Meike’s progress is due to a number of things: First and foremost, her violin experience - - the ear training alone was a big advantage when she started guitar. And, the violin slowly built up the skin thickness on her fingers. She probably had a lot less down time because of trauma to her left hand than most of us did. She also probably paid a lot more attention to things like timing and posture (…although, admittedly, her posture is not all that great in her videos). To be a good musician you have to embrace timing and that can be pretty boring when you’re a student. I could gig and knock out three chords all night when I was a teenager but after I learned about syncopation, I was pretty much ruined as a rhythm guitarist.
The most impressive part about this is how your talent was there before your skills and handling of a guitar from the start. Good on you for actually following a path doing something you’re born to do
your motivation throughout your journey is absolutely admirable. great job!! i love watching people improve on instruments, especially guitar. it really motivates me to try as well. amazing work and keep up the great playing!
As a 6 years self-taught guitarrist, i can say, you are awesome, i understand how hard is don't have someone to tell you where you're going wrong, but you learned Bohemian in 3 months, that's incredible

great guitar choice. most guitarists always look at Yamaha Pacifica (or even Yamaha guitars in general) as a cheap option that only beginners buy when actually it's really great without changing any parts. the playability, the comfort, the sound, and the balance are all amazing for the price. mine still holds up well after 11 years and the only part i've changed is just the bridge pickup.
Playing that crazy train intro LIKE THAT after just two months is superb! I also love how pleased with your playing you look yourself - that is what it's all about!
This is amazing!!! I’ve been “playing” acoustic for 4-5 years but only just recently learned how to play with a pick and also learned bends, which is pitiful hahaha. To be fair, when I first started I was pretty young, didn’t know many songs, and only interested in learning simple chords, picking patterns, and strumming with my fingers. Now, I’m taking it more seriously. I’m gonna buy an electric for Christmas and start learning rock solos and finally commit to learning for real. Thanks for this video, it was very motivating for me :)
(I also was not interested in rock music at all but recently have gotten into it, so that’s a huge factor. I only wanted to play simple pop/indie or R&B.)
Advice that genuinely made me see faster progress when learning the acoustic guitar, which applies to all instruments; be consistent. Don't pick your instrument twice a week and practice for hours straight, instead, try to fit in at least a few minutes of practice every day. An example of how much that changed for me, a week ago, before applying consistent practice (and that with months of inconsistent practice), I still had some issues with finger placement, picking and moving my hand across frets without looking down to the arm. That will also build confidence, which helps tremendously when learning new things.
I started off as a self taught guitarist slightly before the pandemic hit, and in 3 months there is absolutely no way I could bend a note as accurately as you did (most of the time pahaha), I'd say my biggest tip, which is very obvious of course, is to not fall into the trap of playing a piece that youre learning all the way through each and every time you practice it. Take the smallest snippets and go at PAINFULLY slow speeds, I mean painfully slow. Additionally, what i've recently found to be very very VERY useful is dissecting a new piece that I learn, and see why it actually works over the chords. CAGED is a gift sent from the heavens so take your time to learn that too! And of course... don't play stairway to heaven in a guitar store :D
I’m just getting into it and man did this help, I can’t wait to get to your level! 😊learning how to read the notes right now, starting with scales. But this just helped me realize how amazing learning an instrument is. You can play music that you love with your own hands 😮 I know that sounds obvious, it’s just so amazing to me ❤
1:46 into the video and no Wonderwall from Oasis... this is perfect. If you ask me, that moment starting from 3:44 until the 4:00 mark or so, thats when the improvement kicked in. Congratulations! No easy feat to start this journey on your own!
I feel like I learned more from myself than with instructors. It took me around 4 months to learn how to play GOAT from Polyphia without messing up any note. Good job! Keep up learning, we’re on the same boat!!!
this makes me wish I'd filmed myself more when i started out, I know I'd be so proud seeing how far I've come in just under 2 years self teaching. also i think i saw in another comment you play piano and violin - i do too! it's so cool to see someone else's journey in such similar circumstances :)
I stopped playing 5 or 6 years ago because of a really hard time in my life. I just picked the thing back up only yesterday, retaught myself how to play the major scale and now you just gave me a list of bangers to learn! Thank you for being such an inspiration! PS~ listen to Inspiration by Derek Trucks Band. Not that you should learn it, but Derek is very much guitar goals!
I'm so happy to see this. as person who actually try learning guitar (mine is acoustic) I have some struggle, especially for being consistent and your video keep me motivated for grab my guitar and start learning again
IMO, this is the magic of learning guitar, especially self taught ppl, you play in your own way, weird picking grip, slight mistakes in tone and timing, growing calluses and so on, then you improve and realize you can play easier if you do this, you can play better if you do this, your calluses aren't that obvious anymore that your fingers look normal but they're very hard at the tip, until you look like an advanced guitar player. you play like textbook style guitar or something and ppl will ask if you took music lessons and you feel good saying "no, im self taught".
Great video and amazing progress in 3 months! I'd like to point out something to maybe help beginner guitar players avoid being discouraged. In the video you can notice how for example Crazy Train sounded a lot better than the Bohemian rhapsody solo but was recorded before. And this is something you will encounter often during your learning curve in guitar, you get good like really good and then you try something new or something different and it won't sound great but it isn't because you're getting worse at the guitar it's simply like learning a new language. Say for example you learn Jimi Hendrix and you get to a point where you can improvise pretty decent solos and medleys of his songs, then you start getting into Polyphia or Jason Richardson and you can't play the 1st 3 bars of a song... It's literally like learning a new language so don't get discouraged if you feel like you're getting bad or that you aren't getting better, it's absolutely normal and you aren't by any means getting worse because you improve with practice as you can see the end result of the Bohemian rhapsody solo which is great by the way!
I'm trying to learn acoustic guitar all by myself as well and I know how hard it can be. That being said, you had a really impressive and fast evolution! Congrats and keep going! 💪

Amazing job for just 3 months!
As a guitarist with 15 years or so of experience I think I have few tips that may help you a lot if you didn't fix them already since its a bit old of a video :)
- The way you hold the pick is weird, kind like you are holding a pen, which makes picking the strings a much harder task that what it could be and builds a lot of tension.
I was actually gonna say the same thing hahaha
Yea the pic holding confused me
If I may ask, do you have a guide or plan on what to learn next? I'm a beginner and I feel like i'm stuck after learning a few songs and basic strumming patterns and a few chords/power chords.. I wanna move forward to soloing and improvising and lead stuff in general.. there's just so much stuff idk where and how to start, anything would be of tremendous help ty!! x)
@@blursedd metronome it stinks but it works.
@@blursedd yup metronome and just start with short intro soloey bits like at the start of wish you were here, it was my first solo and I learned it on acoustic guitar but I can still remember it to this day and it definitely helped get basic techniques in place like bends (horrible on acoustic guitar), pull offs and hammer ons, a little bit of vibrato aswell, just find the value in very short solo bits that you like, it feels less daunting and it helps a lot
i've been playing guitar for like 4 years and i've never seen so much progress in just three months, great job!
This is freaking amazing. It took me 3 months just to learn through the fire and flames (and i still make mistakes lmao), and you learned like 40 songs in that same timeframe. Awesome!
have been playing for 2 years and havent seen someone progress so fast, youre much more talented and damnn youre a great learner
That's my 2023 goal, to learn to play guitar :)

in the comments she said she played 6 years of violin prior... she probably knows theory already and has strong fingers, cause violin is the hardest instrument ever. Don't get fooled by these progress videos, people only post it if they know they're good and will get lots of views. But what they don't tell you is that it's not their first instrument. Only if you scroll through comments for 10 minutes. Anyways, don't be hard to yourself. Guitaring is never ending learning and someone who never touched a guitar can expect her results after 1 year
@@das.ruderboot yup. It's exactly why I don't watch these types of videos anymore when I'm learning a new hobby. They're not inspiring at all. I only watched because I'm not actually learning guitar at the moment.

this video is so motivating, my sister gave me an electric guitar about a month ago and ive been using this to stem my progression. currently on life is a highway!
I keep asking my boyfriend to teach me but I keep losing motivation if he’s not there. Seeing you start a song (specifically the rhapsody solo), work your way up to doing it well and then seeing the look of pride and satisfaction and pride is really motivating, thank you!
As someone who just bought her first bass and is on day 2 of her bass-playing journey, this video is so uplifting to me. Thank you for sharing your progress! 😊❤
I have been playing guitar for five years and I can tell you that your progress in three months is very good in your second month you were already playing crazy train in my first two months I was barely playing a chord hahaha, congratulations on your great progress, I recommend you playing blues will help you a lot.
🤟🤟 saludos desde mexico
Thank you so much! I will surely look into blues :)
I am from New York and currently 16 y/o. I am playing guitar since I was 7. 9 years of experience in total. But YOU GIRL!!! I must say you have talent. I know I am late for this comment. But just want to let you know, you are extraordinary. Keep it up sweetie!

ive been learning guitar for 2 years im 16 and self taught in my first 4 months i was able to do guitar for my advanced higher music exam, what im saying is if you enjoy playing guitar you will progress faster dont force yourself to play if you don want to play listen to music you like and then try play that if you want.

@@atlasucks4happy belated bday, how was ur first three months?
Good on you for actually following a path doing something you’re born to do
or it could be because she's played before and this video is fake

great guitar choice. most guitarists always look at Yamaha Pacifica (or even Yamaha guitars in general) as a cheap option that only beginners buy when actually it's really great without changing any parts. the playability, the comfort, the sound, and the balance are all amazing for the price.
mine still holds up well after 11 years and the only part i've changed is just the bridge pickup.
That is insane progress for three months. Good job you earned a fan

Starting my guitar journey this weekend😁
You’ve inspired me so much!!! I recently picked up playing the guitar again and now I can’t wait to learn and play again ❤️
I only wanted to play simple pop/indie or R&B.)
nice progress!! , for summer i was thinking about spending 10 hours just focusing on my guitar
Thankyou and good luck!
You can play music that you love with your own hands 😮 I know that sounds obvious, it’s just so amazing to me ❤
Good luck!!
1:46 into the video and no Wonderwall from Oasis... this is perfect.
If you ask me, that moment starting from 3:44 until the 4:00 mark or so, thats when the improvement kicked in.
Congratulations! No easy feat to start this journey on your own!

this makes me wish I'd filmed myself more when i started out, I know I'd be so proud seeing how far I've come in just under 2 years self teaching. also i think i saw in another comment you play piano and violin - i do too! it's so cool to see someone else's journey in such similar circumstances :)
I stopped playing 5 or 6 years ago because of a really hard time in my life. I just picked the thing back up only yesterday, retaught myself how to play the major scale and now you just gave me a list of bangers to learn! Thank you for being such an inspiration!

Wow! shredding on that guitar beautifully🤘🏻 your progression is incredible for 3 months!
Been playing classic for 2 years and Electric for 1 year, and it seems like you definitely have talent. Nice tempo control as well, rock on!
