I have a friend who lives in Bay Ridge.
my mother grew up on 73rd Street across from OLA. I have a picture of her and my uncle before he left for the Pacific in 1943.
I went to school at OLA.
It was great.
My mother grew across from OLA. and her brother. My grandfather worked at the Navy Yard

I lived there from 1963 until 1972.
Wow the Alpine theater, I used to go there when I lived a few blocks down at fort Hamilton Parkway. 😎 cool to see shore Road again. Nice walk Sifat.🤩

Hey Valerie Wood. This is my old neighborhood as well. So much has changed. I was born in Victory Memorial Hospital and it is closed. Some of the mom n pop places are still around but lots of changes. This was fun though. 👋🏽

Grew up & lived in Bay Ridge for 40 years. Good to see the old neighborhood from a distance given the fact that quality of life is getting worse in NYC but the cost of living is increasing. Cuckoo York!!! Happy I left for Florida.
Florida is literally the worst place in the USA. My god what a hell hole!!

It was great seeing my neighborhood on your channel. You got the blue collar flavor of the neighborhood while so many other virtual tours just focus on the mansions of Shore Road and Narrows Blvd, Owls Head Park, the Gingerbread House and 86th St shopping. Thanks!
I miss walking in Bay Ridge
Nice but mssed some of the nicest one and two=family homes around Ridge Blvd, Colonital Road in the
79's and 80's with beautiful tree=lined streets and the great apartments on Shore Road facing the harbor and Verrazzano Bridge where all the ships that enter NY must pass through. Just showed the old 69 Street pier where people fish and where years ago before the Verrazzano Bridge was built, the only way you could get to Staten Island was to take the Ferry at that pier which cost a nickle .05 cents to take a trip there. It stopped running many years ago but heard that the Ferry is working now from a visitor who took a walk to the Pier the other day. Also the many churches. We used to have 7 Lutheran churches in Bay Ridge. Also churches of many denominations. a synagogue and more currently a mosque. Also 8th Avenue used to be a Norwegian neighborhood but is now Chinatown. The king of Norway used to visit for the Annual Norwegian Day Parade along 5th Avenue because Bay Ridge had the largest population of people of Norwegian descent in the USA. We also had 7 theaters, Stanley, Electra, Shore Road,, Dyker, Harbor, Alpine, Bay Ridge ..a Loew's I think and The
Fortway which was just a bit out of the area. Saturday was kiddies cartoon day and cost a nickel back in the good old days.
