    Bay Ridge and Fort Hamilton are neighborhoods at the southern most point of Brooklyn, under the Verrazano Bridge, that offer fascinating glimpses into the authentic Brooklyn lifestyle. Most notably known for it's portrayal in the late 70's film Saturday Night Fever, the neighborhood has a strong connection to the disco era. Bay Ridge is located approximately 10 miles from Manhattan and has a diverse socioeconomic demographic as well as diverse architecture from mansions, to quaint single family home, to brownstones, and large apartment buildings. #bayridge #bayridgebrooklyn #brooklyn #nyc #saturdaynightfever #disco #travelvlog
    The neighborhood began as a Norwegian stronghold in Brooklyn and later Irish, Italian, and Greek immigrants called the neighborhood home until today. Increasingly, there is a growing Middle Eastern and Arab population in this amazing urban neighborhood.
    The tour will show you the following:
    Cannon Ball Park (John Paul Jones Park)
    Fort Hamilton
    Shore Road
    Shore Road Park
    3rd Avenue
    5th Avenue
    Bay Ridge Summer Stroll
    Bay Ridge is a nightlife and commercial mecca in south Brooklyn offering hundreds of restaurants, bars, stores, and gives you a small town feel right in Brooklyn, NYC. Though slightly gentrifying, this Brooklyn stronghold is a hidden gem and is the home to many second, third, and fourth generation residents offering an authentic Brooklyn feel.
    In this tour you will go on a walking tour through Bay Ridge's beautiful parks, marvel and grandiose mansions near Shore Road, get a taste of Middle Eastern and Arab culture along 5th Avenue, and finally hear live music and see the neighborhood residents out on a summer stroll eating, drinking, and dancing on a beautiful Friday summer night.
    Take the R Train, drive, nyc ferry, or the express bus to this amazingly authentic and lively Brooklyn neighborhood.

      Hi Leslie. Thanks for watching and the support. Bay Ridge is one of my most favorite neighborhoods in NYC. It is filled with authentic charm and maintains a small town vide with tons of mom and pop stores. Still mostly original Brooklynites too, which gives it an authentic vibe.

    Cannon Ball Park: Notice the cannon faces the bridge. It was installed there a quarter century ago by one Phil Leotardo to prevent any of the Soprano crew coming into Brooklyn from Jersey via Staten Island.

      Lol but what about when John Sacrimoni moved to Jersey? I guess he took the tunnel through Manhattan to get over.

    I so enjoyed this tour you gave. I'm a native of Brooklyn, but lived in Sheepshead Bay. I went out a lot in Bayridge and always loved it. If I could afford to do it, I'd move back in a NY minute. I live in Rhode Island now and it's definitely not for me!

      Hi Frank thanks for watching! People say it’s not what it used to be, but I still love Bay Ridge. It still is a decent place to go out when you want to stay in south Brooklyn. Come back for a visit soon!

      @@ProjectGaiaTravel I agree. No place is what it used to be. Everything changes. Bay Ridge will always be a great place for me. I will come back for more of your videos. So far I think you do the best job on giving tours.

    Nice video bro,
    Which ny neighborhoods or borough do you recommend that most family friendly and family oriented??

    • @ProjectGaiaTravel
      @ProjectGaiaTravel  Рік тому +2

      Hey man. I would say the most family oriented borough is Staten Island as there is a larger family population and more single family homes. It has the most suburban vibe. Other neighborhoods that are family friendly and low crime include Dyker heights, marine park, gerritsen beach in Brooklyn. Country club, throgs neck, and riverdale in the Bronx, and bayside, Hollis, middle village, Howard beach in queens. Manhattan has families too but is the least family friendly as it has more singles and couples.

    Saturday Night Fever made Bay Ridge famous.
    The White Castle in the movie is no longer there.
    There is now a Pizza Uno.

    Ironically, athough the movie Saturday Night Fever made Bay Ridge famous the movie had nothing to do with the neighborhood at all. The story the movie was based on, which appeared in New York magazine, was written by a British writer who was actually writing about his hometown in Britain and the people he grew up with. He has since publicly admitted that the story that he wrote about Bay Ridge was completely fabricated.

    Dude. Don’t wear flip flops on your tours.

    • @ProjectGaiaTravel
      @ProjectGaiaTravel  Рік тому +2

      it actually wasn't flip flops, just boots with a very hard heel. But yea I can see how the sound is annoying. Thanks for the tip.
