But this is very plain , cheap finish cheap cabinets, cheap plain doors, cheap small closets, ,, it has no class, or too modern looking, .. and not really practical, .. medicine cabinet looks like one from Home Depot just stretched, ,, .. it’s nice area and view but finish and design just look cheap and poor, ..

I live in a 10 foot high apartment - and I can tell you, high ceilings are vastly overrated. The heat goes up where you cannot use it, the dust and cobwebs are hard to be dealt with and changing a lamp or a light bulb - nightmare if you have no pendula lamps ... Yes, it has perks - you can buy high shelves and use the extra height for storage - but how do you get to your things?
I like that the room seems to be a bit emptier and lighter - and I like where my apartment is situated (Hanover Germany, not NYC) and the price is worth taking a few hits in convenience. But you should know about the disadvantages before you move into such high rooms. I cannot imagine having double height rooms - how do you get your cobwebs dealt with at 5 m / 16,5 feet??

Having said that I’m disgusted by the sense of elitism real estate developers are fusing into this city’s living spaces. I personally think most folks living in these high-rises in downtown Brooklyn will learn absolutely nothing about the borough itself nor it’s inhabitants. Because you build a building doesn’t mean you are creating community, not, especially if landlords don’t open up those spaces to real working class people.

The, “rental vacancy rate of 1.6% from a total of 16,738 units” …”3.1 %” in NYC overall. That said, Real Estate developers are not in the business of loosing money which means that when they build something there’s usually a demand for it.

A lot of the people who are able to stay here are in rent controlled properties, which have their own issues. But the housing prices here clearly have only become for the wealthy. You need to be a doctor at this point to afford all these new condo's being built here. A 25 story condo was just built near my apartment. It was the first high rise here in Bensonhurst. The asking price for a 3 bedroom in it is 1.8 million with a forever fee of 1.4k HOA. Don't know who is going to buy it but it'll cost them 13k a month.

I'm guessing the "nobody can buy" part is that they only rent/lease the apartments? otherwise, some rich person would grab that place up in a hot second.

im honestly surprised ny would allow them waste so much space on terrace, i mean thats way more than needed and could have been another apt lol but yeah why create such a crazy price point for rent? and who do they make these for, im have hard time understand the function or comfort of living so high up and having get stuff up there ? and having pay that much in rent every month is insane

It's probably where the setback needed to be to meet NY zoning codes. They couldn't put an apartment above that space if they wanted the city to approve the plans.

Some terraces in NY are actually set backs. Ever notice in NY how many buildings don't go straight up? You'll see the upper floors have smaller footprints because the upper floors are "set back." Like a really tall, square, tiered cake. Those are set backs. They let more light reach the lower levels and the street and they were required by law. I don't know if THIS building was affected by that law. But what you see is - architects will use the set back and turn it into a feature - the terrace.

Beautiful but lacking soul. Not somewhere that us ordinary folks could afford to live in. It's a whole other world.

I loved the layout and deck area. But, y'know, it's in NYC, which means that's like having a house located in the middle of a tar pit.
