OLD SCHOOL SHRIMP AND SAUSAGE CREOLE/MONDAY MOTIVATIONAL MENU IDEAS

- This is another fall and wintertime recipe
Another one pot meal
Very comforting and filling
Shrimp Creole Ingredients
1 - lbs. (16/20) Shrimp, peeled and de veined
1 lb sliced smoked sausage(you can use Cajun andouille sausage if you like)
1 lb jumbo lump crab meat (optional)
1 cup large diced green bell pepper
1 cup large diced yellow onions
3 tsp chopped garlic
1 cup chopped celery
1 14.5 oz. can rotel tomatoes
1 8 oz. can ground tomatoes
1 8 oz can chopped tomatoes
1/2 tsp Chili Powder(optional)
1/2 tsp Kosher Salt
1 tsp shrimp base
1 tablespoon creole seasoning ( your choice)
1 tbsp Cornstarch(for slurry)
2 tbsp Cold Water(for slurry)
1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp Hot Sauce
INSTRUCTIONS:
In a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat add oil, onion, bell pepper, and celery. Sauté for 5-6 minutes, or until onions are translucent. Add crushed garlic and continue sautéing for 1 minute.
Add rotel tomatoes, ground tomatoes and chopped tomatoes, chili powder, creole seasoning, salt, and pepper Stir until well mixed.
Bring ingredients to a boil and then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
In a small bowl whisk together starch and water until well combined.
When done simmering, stir in starch-water slurry.
Add sausage,shrimp, crab meat , Worcestershire, and hot sauce. Continue simmering, uncovered, for 5-6 minutes or until shrimp are cooked through.
Serve shrimp .sausage and crab creole over rice and with fresh chopped parsley and enjoy!

Creole is absolutely the best base ever I have not had that since I left home an moved to the Midwest I sure do love it I always used Old Bay seasoning but I love your seasoning just as much if not more Thank you Chef Jeff Yummy recipe for sure

Yum! My mother's Jumbo Shrimp Creole and buttered long grain white rice made fast and fabulous Friday dinners in the electric skillet. I still make it. We couldn't eat meat on Fridays back in the day. Fresh jumbo shrimp was only $3.00 per pound then so we always had a lot of it.

That's an awesome recipe! My only little objection is that I would cook my sausage first with very little oil to create a good fond on the bottom of the pan. THEN I would add my trinity and a very small amount of flour to create a semi-roux. Small distinction, but one that makes a good difference to me. Just a suggestion.
