I understand! My son and his family live in California and I live in texas. It’s a four hour plane ride or a three day drive. I live you talent and can do attitude
I was wondering if you were going to put some kind of metal tie rods in that corner to hold the building together as I’ve seen it done in other old buildings. They are kind of picturesque in that the anchor on the outside is often a star or some other pretty design. But I’ve never heard of basically rebuilding the corner with larger stones to take up the space. That’s very interesting & I will be here to watch you guys do it. I know you said that Tracy will do the work but that looks like a man’s job to me with all those heavy stones, lol. It’s all very exciting!😊
Bonjour Tracie and Budo, I have to say even though the treasure is in bits, it's an amazing find, someone 100-400 years ago hands made them, it's fantastic. I couldn't believe you found both pieces of the stopper, I hope someday you find the decanter. Well done. I do not understand your cabling system at all, so that's why I have you guys to explain it. The barn drainage is also confusing, but Budo you have explained it perfectly. Well done. Love from N.Y.
I have watched a couple of Before and After videos lately and people have said that their viewership increased by a couple thousand after they posted it!!! That might be a way to get your viewership up :) Watching the Barn improvements has been so fun! Thanks for sharing your progress.
Thank you for answering the drainage question! I was sure you had a plan, but it is good to hear what it is. I love the barn. Can't wait to see what you do.
You need to pull extra electric at the barn end so it can go into the fuse box. Does the Ethernet cable have shielding? If not, it will get electrical interference from the electric cable. This will degrade the speed of the internet in the barn. You guys are the best.
Oh my, I know how much you're missing your family. My daughter and grandchildren live many miles away and were home for a visit last week, now they have left...sad moments. What interesting finds you've dug up....the history there! Thank you for sharing this!
Before refuge collectors and binmen were a thing people used to dump old bottles and crockery somewhere on the property or somewhere at the edge of a village so anything aged over 150 years old will have a Victorian bottle dump
Hi Budo and Tracey, just looking at your porch and found some old footage on the TV from when you started it, footings etc. we walk straight into our lounge and a porch would be great on our stonehouse. I suppose you had to get permission from your local Marie before you started work? Thanks, Nicky
Hi Nicky yes you have to get a declarations form filled in even though its under the twenty square meter rule they will let you have it its just the red tape they love the paper work here LOL are you guys near us
That barn building is amazing how it stood there all these years without being pointed too and the rains damaged it somewhat, amazing how it’s still there. Thanks for explaining all your jobs as you go Budo. Love learning about this stuff 👍
Hi Budo & Tracy. Fascinating video guys. The stones on the side of the barn enabling access to the roof were really interesting. I looked at a farmhouse with a massive barn with a friend and they had hooks at regular intervals on the roof so you could place a ladder on them. As I was watching you pull the cable through I thought I wonder how you would cope with the string breaking....Well done for dealing with that. I would have been tearing my hair out , If I had any. Looking forward to seeing you deal with the subsidence and putting in the new doorway. p.s. Did you get any further with the translation of the carving on the beam inside ? All the best, speak soon. 👍🏼
Hi Colin thanks mate on the writing it's been documented and hopefully we might know in the next couple of months but I'll need to take that beam out but I'm going to keep it and re use it some where else mate 😀 👍🏻
It is amazing how square they were able to get rocks to stack without modern tools. I imagine it would take a ton of force to dislodge any of those walls.
I enjoyed seeing and hearing about your finds👍 I think there must be many hundreds of years of habitation at your home site. Who knows what secrets all that land keeps. It would be interesting to find out just how old that barn is. The stone for the barn looks a little different in how it was constructed from the house renovation. It is so pretty, the stone. I’m wondering if this was stone found on the land around the homestead and farm or did it come in from a quarry in the area? I find it amazing how well these structures have survived for so many years and in relatively good shape. If only those walls could talk! Thank you so much for your hard work and for sharing your journey with us 😃👍👍
Hi Melina the barn we now think could have been the original house and is definitely the oldest part of the property as it was a timber frame construction first then stoned in and the timber framing in oak is still there so we keep investigating thank you all the best Budo xx
I love your channel guys! You are both the hardest workers I’ve seen and that barn is going to be epic if the work you’ve done on the cottage is anything to go by! Given the level of your craftsmanship Budo I’m shocked you guys don’t have 100,000 plus subscribers! Not sure what the issue is but it’s a real shame. I’ve noticed some UA-camrs are now doing short daily videos… I’m guessing that wouldn’t leave much time for editing in order to keep up with that kind of pace, but I wonder if that would help? Even if you tried it for a short period? Whatever you end up doing, Im a huge fan and always look forward to your next episode. Keep up the amazing work. Much love from Melbourne, Australia ❤❤
Thank you Rachel 😊 yes we are struggling on UA-cam but hopefully things will change when we appear on a new British TV series next year for six weeks 😀 😉
The amount of commitment and hard work you both keep generating is inspirational! This was a very interesting vlog. I'm actually excited that you decided to move your attention to the barn for your workshop, Budo. I don't know how much noise your electronic tools generate through 2-3 foot walls, but I assume it's accurate to say that having it further away from your house will mean it will be more quiet and peaceful within the main house when Budo is running those noisey tools! 😉🥰
Thank you Denise we are really enjoying the Barn renovation and it will be so interesting when we clear the inside and get lighting in there then you we all appreciate how lovely the Barn really is thank you for watching Denise 🙏🏻🥰
one of those what they called nerf ball works perfect to suck thru a pipe with a string attached , The next thing after you have a string, you pull a nylon rope, than and not until than do you attach the wires ect that you need to pull into the line. You will never pull a nylon rope that hard to break it.. Another thing is they make a foam that you put on the things you are pulling thru to make them slide easier. Electricians and telephone installs know these things.
I lived 16 hours away from my family so I understand your sadness and feeling of empty house when your kids leave. Your archeological finds are amazing and I know you will find the perfect way to display them. Thanks for explaining how you will handle the drainage around the barn! And that huge crack on the corner is worrisome, but I'm sure you've done the requisite research to make sure it's safe. You are both amazing!!
Having a space to work and build things for the home and other projects will be a great relief for both of you. It one thing some stuff has to be in the area, but the struggle is real when there’s so little space to move about.
Hi guys, loved this video, as I do all of them! The amazing artifacts you uncovered in the ground digging the trench are so fantastic. The history that your farm has is just so interesting. Hope you are keeping a journal of it all, for future use, and sharing memories of this journey rehabbing this beautiful place. Sorry I don't always comment, but I do not miss any of your videos. Have a great week, and trust me, I know how it feels to have the children & grandchildren live a distance away. It isn't easy! The grandchildren grow up so fast. 😥

Than you very much for answering our questions. I was wondering how you were going to handle the drainage. Very clear explanation. I greatly appreciate it.

Buda, before you forget bury a sizable metal plate (standard steel) just above your joint you have in the trucking between the buildings. That way a metal detector can find it. When you break through the barn wall don’t forget your buildings grounding rod/s.
At the barn, will you set up some short eg stone retaining walls (near the cable corner) to hold back the soil from future shifting? I imagine it would also help keep your French drains from plugging up as well as offering a clear walkway.

If this isn't special ground CAT 6 cable I hope you have the UTP-cable in a conduit. This type of cable is not suited for putting in the ground. (I was a little to quick with my reaction, but the mains power might interfere with the signal that goes through the UTP)
In his Parisian delicatessen on Place Clichy, Louis Alexandre Salve Patrelle develops a preparation based on liquid caramel and sautéed onions. A few drops from the small glass bottle into broth enhance its color and taste. Two patents were filed in 1876 and 1888, to protect the new Patrelle Aroma. After a first workshop in the town of Romainville in 1852, he moved from the status of trader to that of industrialist in 1889, with the new factory, rue du Garde Chasse aux Lilas, on almost one hectare. In the triangle behind the market and its parking lot, can the residents of 26-38 rue du Garde-Chasse remember that workers from the Patrelle factory worked in this same place? This is where the bottles of the famous Arôme Patrelle (broth with a caramelized onion flavor) were made, before the activity was decentralized in 1964 to Normandy.
We found a bottle Les Lilas at our friends house in Champsecret 👍🏼

Trench drains or French drains are not a French invention, it came from a American book about farm drainage by Henry Flagg French.
