Creative and talented. Never cuts corners. Craftsmanship par excellence. A weekly seminar in how things should be done. Thank you Budo and Tracy. You are weekly "must see" entertainment.
It's already been said, but it's worth repeating: it's amazing to watch someone who is so skilled at an age-old craft like making and hanging box sash windows. This kitchen is truly priceless. And I appreciate Tracy's paintwork too--so many people do their painting slap-dash, but it really shows in the end result when someone takes time and care.
The kitchen window is just amazing. I used to rent a house in Ireland that had similar windows, the landlord was amazed when I said I didn’t want them replaced with pvc windows. It was the last house in my street to still have the original appearance.
A real Master carpenter with so much knowledge that is understand and can do so many different skills from a lifetime of learning. These skills are a dying art, for lack of training on the job, and of course factory windows that cut corners of real quality.
Budo's tutorials are so professional, and concise, and the sweet chestnut wood is really beautiful, your kitchen is going to be amazing when it us finished 👏👏👏👏
It’s a 200,000 dollar kitchen if not more! So beautiful. ,ore windows need to be made old school. Veneer windows just don’t cut the mustard! Love the videos always! More people need to learn the old ways of craftsmanship!
I’m with you. I hate plastic windows as well. It took me a really long time to find someone who actually still makes wood Windows, but I found one who was actually reasonably priced as well near my cottage in Northern Ontario. nothing worse than seeing a an old wood cabin with vinyl windows.
Hi Caoucaren thank you and yes I'm with you on that one I love wood and its so environmentally friendly and sustainable to it will come back in time when people realise how bad plastic is for our world xx
People say that wood is more maintenance, which is probably true, a little bit more maintenance, but even when I see an old old Window that hasn’t been painted in years, I think they’re still beautiful, whereas plastic windows or vinyl windows are ugly forever.
I love the workmanship and sash windows are perfect here, the only thing I wanted to question (hope I didn't miss it in the video) why are you using single pained glass will this not be a huge issue in the winter? you can get highly rated double glass glass with a very narrow profile
Hi browner I get asked this alot for me double glazed units are a big con they were designed to stop noise more then cold its the windows that should be made well to stop drafts also it affects the design and mechanics of these type of windows to double glazed units and ends up making them look ugly and out of proportion buddy hope this help all the best budo 👍🏻 😀
Always good. My ship right father in law would be delighted. He finished his career fixing these windows in Cerberus NB. Very few knew how to repair them.
Hi Shane there was no putty in them as they were made by me so were new but if you mean cutting the new putty off then if you go back a couple of years ago on a video showing how i made the oak box sash windows there is a video were im puttying and it shows cutting it back hope this helps buddy
The windows are so beautiful. The door is looking great. The lavender bags are lovely, including the crocheted ones. I have a friend who harvests lavender and gives us pouches every year. They last a long time.❤
Beautiful windows, Budo! These will look fabulous and last a very long time. Your kitchen is coming along very nicely. Soon Tracy will be cooking up a storm in there. Greetings and admiration from Canada 🇨🇦
Bonjour Tracy and Budo, wow, where do I start. Tracy your painting is masterful, the door looks wonderful. Budo the windows are amazing; I love the step-by-step tutorial as you go. They are beautiful and your talent is exceptional. Tracy, I love the lavender sachets I don't have a crafty bone in my body. Well, done you two. Love from N.Y.
I was scared you were selling the Farm. I am glad its that you are selling lavender! I love watching you and Budo's Videos. I am sorry I havent been watching in awhile but I am back and have a lot to watch to catch up
I find painting deeply therapeutic. There is something mesmerizing about seeing the paint go on smoothly changing everything so dramatically. It is such a soothing and satisfying activity.
Hello Tracy and Budo! I saw the headline on Instagram and my heart sank, I thought you were selling up and going back to England 🏴😩! You’re not that far from us , we are over again and putting up stud walls and getting our log burner up and running. Internet connection really bad here so catching up with UA-cam when we get back. Good luck with everything, take care 👍🏼
Thank you for watching and no we are not selling the house only the Lavender as you will see in the thumb nail the yellow arrow is pointing at the crochet pouch 😍🙏
Nice Windows and workmanship, how do you get the points out? I have an older picture and I went to do a full clean and the back has those points and they are sharp with little to grab onto.
Question: Can Tracy actually reach that window to open it? I ask because my short ass ( all 5ft 2" of me ) can't reach the windows behind my kitchen sink to open them ( bane of my life 🙃). My openings are slightly higher ( pvc )
Yes she can and she is a bit taller then you what you could do with is what we call in the UK a wee stall step to stand on that would help you all the best Budo x
My husband and I are trying to see how the sash of the window is locked in. The weight end has the figure 8 knot, but you cut the sash of the other sliding part of the window? No knotting or? Sorry, we grew up in houses with the old style windows and are very curious.
I understand Suzanne I’ve been doing this for around 40 years and I know exactly how these work and were to cut the cords for complete balancing if you no what I mean xx
It would be nice if you put the camera so we can see what you are doing. Completely wrong place when you were doing the window glazing . Other than that the window is great
@@FrenchFarmhouseDiaries We all learn by our mistakes as they say no one of us are perfect . I just would've liked to see how Budo did the glazing so we can learn from him
No there all rubbish real glass is the best it's not the glass that stops the drafts it the window units them selves and how there made double glazed units only stop the noise that's what they was invented for in the first place then the con men tricked every one out of there money 💰
Everything is coming together in the kitchen really lovely. Windows are so much better than our 'new ones' (1970's?) that were bought to replace the original ones. Tracy your kitchen is going to be worth the wait, you will feel like a queen working in such a wonderful place, built with love by Budo. 💝 We came up with a way to do storm windows on the upstairs screens. We bought plexiglass, put magnet strips on the inside of the screen and on the plexiglass, and used plastic hooks that screw into the screen and turn to hold the plexiglass in place. 110 yr old windows made to last. ☺
You're selling your house? That's a shame. It looked like you were struggling for a while, so I understand. Looking forward to having you back in England anyway. Hop you find a good buyer quickly and thanks for the videos you've done. I'll delete my subscription now.

Great skilled work, buthow did the window actually attach to rope?
Hi Rose yes the window works with the rope and pully wheel and counter balanced wight all together xx
@@FrenchFarmhouseDiaries thanks, I just didn't see how the rope was attached to the window.
Nice Windows and workmanship, how do you get the points out? I have an older picture and I went to do a full clean and the back has those points and they are sharp with little to grab onto.
