- Audio of WZ in March of 2000 performing I Was In The House When the House Burned Down from the TLA in Philly. I was lucky to be there and as usual Warren didn't disappoint. And for the record, Jann Wenner is a dick who's keeping WZ out of the HOF for personal reasons
I saw the next show, in Allentown. He made a joke about the TLA (Theater of the Living Arts) sounding so high-class but actually being a hole in the wall.
@manuetalain83 Yes I was. I was lucky to see him many times, spoke with him after shows and once my brother and I were invited to be his guest at his next show which was in Allentown Pa after we spoke with him after a show in Wildwood NJ. He was just as much a great guy as he was talented and appreciated his fans.
Saw him at the Chance in Poughkeepsie NY- another small venue - back in the 80's; best show I've ever seen, to this day.
This is probably Warren's greatest song of later years. What a great entertainer, and poet. I just bought the CD "My Rides Here". It is an awesome recording. Another black parody of death but in a light comic vein. Always Zevonesque till the end. Warren was truly an intellectual, a Bohemian, Folkie, enmeshed with a classical background that no other rock musician had. There will never be another Zevon justl like when he passes, there will nenver be another Ray Bradbury. They are both alike.
@johnthehulk1 Gone but sure not forgotten! LOVE WARREN!
Another great song by Warren. A great story teller. A lyricist extraordinaire. Too bad only the Zevonites really appreciated him. I think more talented than Henley or Frye, his contemporaries and friends. Maybe Warren will be more appreciated now that he is gone. He left a legacy of great music behind.
@DawnFremy Thanks...I miss seeing him
@manuetalain83 saw him at WMMR'S 25th birthday show, never forget it
You are right. He might have been referring to George Sr. I just read about it in his biography.
@Jiggs46 WOW. VERY cool!
@WOODCUTTER71 I hear that! I regret never seeing him live! :(
Warren wasn't particularly interested in politics. But this song is about Bush. The "House" burning down of course, is the one on Pennsylvania Avenue. Great tune.
@DawnFremy
Warren dated Kim Lankford who played Ginger Ward on Knot's Landing.
Warren ROOLES!!!!
@johnthehulk1
How do you figure? I've never heard that interpretation before.
What was with the Knots LAnding t-shirt? Goofey!
Great video
I agree
During this live performance, Bush wasn't in office.
