The Jesus obi wan hybrid made me double take😂
Yeah I was just scrolling through the comments to see if ANYONE else noticed.
I was eating and almost died laughing and choking!!
Hello there
I wonder what force they were the avatar of
@@MesaSerpent me too
Can we just talk about How he showed a picture of obi wan kenobi as jesus?
Well it either him our Keanu Reeves
Jesus is the most well-known (to most people) avatar.
He's not wrong though.
That wasn’t obi-wan I don’t know what your talking about
We have had an ongoing campaign for the last 5 years and my character has gradually evolved from a Bloodhunter to a Cleric (some creative reclassing done by our DM that fit the story) and he is the Cleric of not one, but three gods. Needless to say, it’s been an interesting adventure especially considering one is evil, one is good and one is neutral.
That sounds like groundwork for a new god of paradoxes or crossroads. Like Janus but ×3
Or like the beginning of a heretical cult that seeks to amend these 3 different believes into a new dogma. Very interesting indeed.
Perfectly balanced as all things should be
My first character was a paladin that was getting tricked by a devil from a old chaos realm, on the beginning the idea was for him to think he was a paladin, but the dm liked the idea so much he allowed for him to be a true reverse paladin his orth was one of loyalty where he would stay at her side and be her sword and shield for as long as he remembered the time she saved him, but later on the party started to piece everything together and found out her true nature and that she was trying to unleash herself from the dimension she was locked in, and my character stayed by her side even after discovering she was a devil, and still saw her as his goddess and faced the party. The dm had ideas of bringing my character back but now as an avatar of her, but sadly that group never played again
Day 29 of asking for obsidian dragons
Also is that Obi-wan?
lol yes
Does the heart mean obsidian dragon is next?
Obsidian dragons are rad af
And one of their powers is to transform water into wine.
Dammit dude why do you have to have such wonderful ideas!? I'm literally running my second campaign where the big bad is an Archdevil that's planning a ritual to bring an aspect of himself to the physical plane. But having one of the side villans become his Avatar would be such a cool twist! Time to make some notes and change some foreshadowing! Thanks for your hard work and quality content!
Love that you picked Obi Wan Kenobi for this.
May The Force Be With You 😁
Does the avatar power rule over the person's will? Like do they have to listen to every command of that god, and if not does that mean it can be taken away?
No they have free will, think of them as a god's right hand
and yes the power can be taken away
@@SteelySamI thought the Avatar of a god _was_ the mind and will of said god manifested in physical form. That’s the impression that Fizban the fabulous gave me in his treasury of dragons anyway.
@@roarytheromanarcanine i might have missed that, what page #?
@@roarytheromanarcanine it usually varies from deity to deity. In most cases, the avatar is able to think and act of its own free will, as they are mortals who are granted the god’s power as a reward for their service. There’s very little need to wield them like a puppet on strings if they already do the God’s bidding.
Alternatively, if the avatar is the created from scratch as a manifestation of that God’s power and will, then they are basically the god’s mouthpiece and their proxy in the same way a Deva or Solar is. It all depends on how the avatar is born.
This is actually how my last cleric died. I talked with my DM before the BBEG fight session, and we agreed that if he managed a successful divine intervention, he would temporarily become his god's Avatar, but, as he was an old man, he would die of exhaustion afterwards. On the session, with 3/5 party members down and the last 2 barely standing, I attempted the divine intervention, got it, and proceeded to absolutely turn the tables and beat the everloving shit out of the ancient blue dragon sorcerer. The death scene was pretty dramatic too
how about a video on cars... i mean... infernal war machines
and in pathfinder 2e there's a high level spell called avatar that lets a divine caster transform into their deity's avatar.
I'd imagine a warrior god sending an avatar against some of their ardent followers as a test of valour against seemingly impossible odds, or perhaps a good aligned deity sending an avatar as a way to see if a party of adventurers is ready to take on a particularly dangerous foe.
The drawing with the comically large crown apparently supported by hair is hilarious!
A friend of mine is in a Evil campaign and the BBEG is Bahamut trying to save the world from their party, they already dethroned 2 other deities in that campaign.
Took a long break but I’m back again asking for the astral dragon
I'd love to see one of these shorts about," What was for favorite Home-brewed magical item from one of your games?"
Obi wan Kenobi is a god in Forgotten Realms?
We crave the dog sam
Becoming an Avatar iirc is a lethal undertaking.
“That’s F*ckin Obi Wan Kenobi”
I once wanted to play a session where the players where all avatars of a God
And the path of avatar just opened up for my warlock.
Let's talk about why that jesus guy looked like obi one kenobi
Ah! The final evolution of the divine soul sorcerer. Nice!
My 2e Moradin Cleric has a Necklace of Prayer Beads with the special bead of Summon Avatar. I've been saving it as a "in case of emergency break glass" type thing, no one but the DM knows I have this.
This kinda reminded me about the Skyrim theory that the player is an avatar of the Nordic god Shor
Hey, the gods can be killed too. They’re immortal technically, but there are multiple instances of gods dying in DnD. The only constant is Ao
Dying yes, killed no
@@SteelySam that sounds like a challenge
@@SteelySam Well you’re technically wrong there which is the best kind of wrong. If we read the story of the origins of Bahamut and Tiamat, one of their canon origins is that they arose from the god Io after he was killed in the Dawn War. On top of that there were Kiputytto who was a Demi god but still had the spark and Murdane. Mystra was also technically killed by the brief mantling by Karsus meaning there was also a God killed by a mortal. Sure 5e did bring many dead gods back, but the fact that they can be killed has not changed
My therapist: Jesus Wan Kenobi isn't real, he can't hurt you
Jesus Wan Kenobi:
Buddy .
When God's call upon
A Hero . . .
They look for mankind . . .
Your shorts always come at the most serendipitous times for me. I'm currently running an underdark arc in the westmarch server I'm in and I have been foreshadowing Avatars blessed by Lolth for each of her domain, they just fought the Avatar of Fertility and Motherhood. This video was as much informational as it was affirmational that I'm on the right track.
I see Iroas among the ref pics, Respect+++++++
Do you wanna do one on Infernal War Machines?
Day 2 of asking for Dog
Would the various Children of Bhaal from the Baldurs Gate games count as some flavor of Avatars?
I don't think they are ever referred to as avatars, but yes they seem to fit the criteria
@@SteelySam Yeah from what I remember from High School, they weren't ever called Avatars, but they definitely were more than just God children. Ty!
You telling me I redid that by accident? In my pantheon each of the 13 deities has a divine avatar I did NOT know it was a thing
I need more example of avatars
Conveniently timed video, one of my characters and party have recently become avatars, we accidentally killed Cyric and took his power
Oh shit, my party has a Villian path rn; band of roaming mercs and they have been pretty savage lately. Maybe a deity avatar fight coming up?
Be me Paladin who is Oath of Devotion serving a king die in the service of said kind and get cursed and turned into a Death Knight (homebrew paladin) forced to be the champion of death only to be trapped in a crystal and used as a undead battery for a shield against the armies of death
Earthbreaker Groon
Speaking of powerful celestial powers; have you done Empyrean yet?
Was that a picture of obi wan Kenobi opening a Holocron lmao
So where do Mysta's chosen land?
Shinning citadel
Asking for head of Vecna
Day 136: asking what is Cthulu`s deal in DnD sourcebooks?
One thing i would like to see go down is
the one god party. a cleric druid ,warlock and paladin. they don't know they are all under the same god.
Okay quick question. Did anyone else think the photo while he was describing what an avatar was looked a little bit too close of a combination between Jesus Christ and Obi-Wan Kenobi?
lol it is Obi-Wan as Jesus
Day3 of asking what beasts you can tame in dnd
Bro I cracked when I I wan showed up
I need a way to weaponize insects and/spiders
I vanquished the avatar of myrkul
Can you do Grog?
We kinda have one of these in our game world. He is immoral, but can can be broken apart, so it's pretty close. Also, DM emphasised that this guy remains his mortal personality (teenage elf, somewhat anarchist), and it's up to us if he is good or not.
That's f****** Obi-wan Kenobi!
Please do ulgurstasta Day 12
Space jesus
Had to like just for Obi Wan Jesus 😆
Deities and Demigods days
Can you do Thibbledorf Pwent?
Can you do Silverbrow humans?
Or a very naughy warlock >:)
JESUS KENOBIIIIIIIIIIIIII
I beg of thee, do a video on kruthik
How about an awesome paladin that throws it back
Can you do Arkhan the Cruel?
Still hoping for The Red Knight
18th asking for puddings
Hi still asking for a series of D&D chicken monsters pls 🥺 just all monsters that look like Or are chickens.q
Hmmm looks a lot like Obi-Wan kenobi
Please do leucrotta
Can you do a quaggoth?
Still asking for the Book of Exalted Deeds
Great video as usual btw
I've got a question: I'm more familiar with Exandria than with The Forgotten Realms. Is the concept of The Divine Gate brought over from TFR to Exandria? Is there something similar?
Could a diety punish a worshipper by making them a permanent avatar? Taking their free will away?
Hey steely, what do you know about rifts?
Day 2 of asking for great old ones and possibly the far realm
My players don't understand that my deities can do very little without serious backlash. To Think Kwamis from Miraculous. If they wanted to say, heal someone, dead people and animals nearby would also possibly get returned to life.
You skipped the best part. All avatars, whether of gods or peace or slaughter, have an innate death-ray attack. XD
So could a war god just physical join a war or only the avatar
Can you do the nine hells pls day 2 asking
Hey I have a question: If there is a material plane, doe that mean other planes are imaterial? Like Plane of Fire? You need to travel there as a ghost? How does that work? Thank you.
Can you do a Bulezau
Hey I have a question? If I pull the moon card from the deck of many things and I use the moon card to cast wish do I still suffer the effects of casting wish outside the rules. Do I have that player roll to see if they can ever cast wish again?
Can you do a video on the d&d UA-camr Pointy Hat please
"You've done a great job my follower, your reward will be to have your conciousness stripped away from you for me to use your body as a tool to gain more followers"
can you please do a Nupperibo
Can you talk about Pazuzu?
Wasn’t there a thing on how a deity’s power level limits how many avatars they can have? With demigods only having one, lesser deities having one per realmsphere, intermediate deities having one per world, and greater deities not having any limits and can even have divine “aspects”, basically an avatar that’s a weaker god? Or am I confusing some stuff?
Yes, I intentionally left that out of the video
@@SteelySam cool, at least I’m not imagining it or confusing it with other lore.
Apologies if you’ve already done this topic, but could you discuss ogres please?
If you’ve already made a video on ogres could you please give me a link to it?
Can a devil have an Avatar?
Day 40 of asking for ethereal filcher
I am once again asking for your support on Corpse Flower
Day 7 be asking for guard drake
Das 31 of asking for Dragonlance
Can you do Fizban and maybe start a mini series of some of the avatars? Day 144 of asking for Fizban
Can you do steelysam?
Erythnul
Lol was that obi wan
