@Trinity M we aren’t from those areas you are correct there but I hope you realize that all of Sudan which literally translates to “land of the dark people” use to be apart of Egypt which is where the kingdom of Kush was located. Arabs aren’t native to Africa they are invaders. there are lighter skinned Africans known as the Amazigh but they aren’t Arab they are native Africans that is who use to occupy Egypt along with Sudanese people. So being black doesn’t exactly eliminate someone from being Egyptian however they are a different ethnic group then the black ppl taken in the transatlantic slave trade Also Egypt isnt the only example of wigs and extensions used in African cultures
Our hair CANNOT sustain anything! Damaging the hell out of that girls hair running that flat iron over it a hundred times. She ain't a throwback braider?? She ain't a real braider PERIOD! 🤣
She don’t know how to braid because anyone who knows how to braid hair, knows that type 4 hair is the best hair to braid. Braiding on straight/loose hair will make the braid unravel and not last!!!
@@far6311 this is a nasty use of a logical fallacy & incredibly ignorant. black women with type 4 hair do not (typically) have short hair because our hair is weak or whatever negative connotation you want to apply. many of us still have no idea how to *properly* care for our hair to retain length and are using methods that do not work for our hair. which is no fault of our own. correlation does not imply causation
It looked liked a young girl too like a teen… Maybe she was embarrassed and didn’t want to cause any trouble cuz she needed her hair done. I felt so bad for that girl. Did she even ask her her permission to record that video? Smh
I think we need to learn that everyone hair type is different. I know my hair is super fragile, lol, baby I be scared to even do one pass. I just don't even touch a flat iron anymore cause I'm so closed to mid back length I can't ruin that for me now. Anyway I have high porosity, mid/fine hair (don't get me wrong she's dense tho). It'd be easy as hell to fry. However my brother has low porosity coarse hair that has been pressed 4 times in a row over the span of 3-4 weeks. Not one curl on this boy head loose one but. It was like he had never even pressed in the first place 😂. Thank God his straight hair phase aint last long but God is his hair strong, lol.
I am a 53 year old braid stylist.. I've been doing "Black hair" since the 80's.... Nothing she said was correct or authentic.. these new 'age stylists' are so angry and out of line.. she would never be a choice for offering Services in my neighborhood!
She didn’t even spray heat protector on her hair before frying it ! That woman is bitter ! She just saw someone with long, thick and healthy and wanted to destroy it ! ( at least subconsciously)
Yooooo this happened to me in the 8th grade, my mom let this bald lady do my hair and she cut it SO SHORT and gave me a chinese bowl cut. Well lookie now hoe (ms fran was her name) my hair is long. And I refuse to let bald bitches play in my hair anymore. Keep your baldness to yourself 😂
Millennials talk down on the older folks, but they never conducted business like this. Their prices were on the wall. If a relaxer was $35, it was that price REGARDLESS of length. It wasn't anywhere between $55-$85. They actually learned your hair, loved what they did, had knowledge on the body, knew dry hair didn't mean you weren't drinking water necessarily, but disease processes factored in. They just knew what to use to moisturize it.
I literally cringed at how many times she put the flat iron on that girls hair. That’s abuse Edit: I went back and counted. ELEVEN TIMES 😡😡😡 just holding the hair inside the flat iron and carelessly combing the ends. Smh. Also, the comment about how our hair is strong and can sustain anything caught my attention. The same way she views our hair is the same way the world views us black women. Everyone thinks we are strong and can take anything and that we will never break. Therefore we aren’t treated with tenderness at times because we are expected to “sustain anything”. Our hair needs to be handled gently in order to thrive, and so do we.
I find it ironic how, a lot of these people love touting that “black hair is the strongest” speech as an excuse to treat the hair roughly (don’t forget to mention while also handling fake hair gently.) But then as soon as the natural hair is damaged, they tell you to cut it all off….hair isn’t growing? Cut it off, edges sparse due to wigs? Cut it off, ends looking fried? Shave your whole head, if black hair truly was this or that, (which it can be, don’t get me wrong) then we wouldnt be needing all of these methods for the hair to prosper. We’ve got people doing all this damage to the hair then turning around and saying stuff like this confuses me. It should not be used as an excuse to handle the hair roughly with not a care in the world. A lot of people’s hair, specifically black hair doesn’t reach its full potential is because they will not leave it alone too. Stop going to these stylists every week who only care about a buck and not about the hair. I get it, people want to switch up their looks and fit into to standards but if you value your hair, you have to be willing to take a step back and not give in to ideals. These silk presses, tight braids, chemically straightening etc every few weeks are not good for the hair. It’s a fiber. You won’t see the damage on the first appointment, but eventually the damage catches up with you. This is why a lot of people see a plateau with their hair growth as well. I honestly think the whole “black hair is the strongest” is one of the biggest lies told by the black hair community and it needs to stop.
I’m commenting off of your edit and I just wanted to pinpoint that part as well where she said that our hair is strong….. she is completely wrong 😅 as a cosmetologist, our hair is actually the weakest out of every body so yes it definitely has to be treated gently and with kindness 😌
I have never heard of someone wanting your hair basically silk press straight to get braids... they want a little kinky texture so the braid doesnt slip out. Isnt that why other textures have issues getting braids.
Black women we have always been able to take care of ourselves. It's time to start doing your own hair. We'll see how well their shops do without natural beauties.
My gen is way ahead of you with this one😂. Everybody got they own hair businesses now. idk how they makin money with all the competition.. but they are lol
I just went in for a consultation for two strand starter twist consultation. I was quoted $325 for my hair length, my loc size, my ends "that needed to be cut." I smiled, I knodded, got her card. . .and went to a REAL loctician who charged me a fraction of what I was quoted and my hair looks amazing. My new loctician is not just out for my money. Keep searching peeps, the good ones are out there.
She said our hair can take anything. Literally, afro hair is the most fragile hair. Over manipulation will kill length retention. Black women are been oversold on being tough and strong. It was extrapolated to our hair. From a chemical standpoint, the Dominican relaxer young is a myth though. The heat damage is more than enough. Length and density charge? Boomers would never.
This is nothing but "hairstylists" being super shady like car salesmen, tacking on extra fees for nothing more but to squeeze more money out of their clients. And the fact it's black women doing this to black women. This is why it's hard to support black businesses sometimes. I went to get my type 4 natural hair done for once in forever, and the lady basically tore my hair out with a comb and I literally left with my hair looking worse than it did when I came in. She admitted that she doesn't get natural hair clients. When I got home I was still finding literally CHUNKS of hair that she had pulled from my scalp. And they still had the nerve to charge me over $100. I officially broke up with salons.
That chick is not a beautician. She is a hair stylist….. and I use that term loosely . People that don’t want to comb or wash natural hair need to sit down on hot combs!!!!!! This video made me mad!!! LOL thanks for sharing
My hair is not a inconvenience, she's just a bad hairstylist! And that's not my fault, I hate the fact that some people made her think that she can disrespect our hair like this...
She said a $15 dollar inconvenience fee on top of charging $25 for a blow out fee. These stylist just doesn’t want to do your actual hair anymore but want to charge you $700+ for wigs and weave styling. It’s absurd!!
Frfr in 2 days that poor lady about to seem some breakage and thin sparse pieces everywhere idk how she sat there in let her do that I would of turned around like wait a minute why so many passes
Right you can really have the works ! At home these ppl barely use any product don't care if you get heat damage no mam.I do my own hair own makeup I'm going to learn how to do my nails and then I won't need to go nowhere.we all can do this just have to ask Jesus Christ for the knowlege and no how so your able in all things &make it a priority
That girl silk press wasn’t worth 200 and the length wasn’t that long somebody ripped her off because my hair is a little longer than hers and thick asf and my silk press is usually 90
I’ve been doing my own natural hair since 2010. I’ve started to learn how to braid in extensions. I’m tired of these braiders overcharging to maintain their “luxury lifestyles “. If you didn’t go to school to learn how to do ALL types of hair just say that! 🗣🗣
Right cause when she said, "when you see that fuzz it's because the client is natural....." NO BABE It's because YOU don't know how to tuck. YOU don't know how to braid if the hair gotta be bone straight to braid up. Think about when African women braid hair, because I don't ever see they clients starting off with a silk press. THEY ARE NATURAL and the hair looks bomb. And on top of that these are the same people who say, "braids not for white people hair type" but you think you need to come in hair bone straight to make it neat 🤔? The math aint mathing. Make it make sense.
This is sad. That hairstylist really said “ Our hair can sustain anything”- no, sorry black women are most subject to traction alopecia, CCCA scarring alopecia, and alopecia areata and for decades research was minimally even conducted on us developing these conditions because the assumption always was “this race damages their hair the most via straightening, scalp tension, and chemical relaxers; therefore , it’s their fault for ruining their hair”. I have a hair loss condition from an autoimmune disorder and this whole clash of “natural hair”; “length retention “ and all that saddens me as the community doesn’t seem privy to how rampant black hair loss really is. Scarring alopecia is a silent epidemic among black women and ignorant black hair stylists like the lady in that video perpetuates the ignorance.
My mother struggled with traction alopecia because she wore protective styles so much. She developed a bald spot on her head that was near impossible for her to grow out without the use of medicated shampoo and a hair growth treatment. Her bold spot was completely gone with in a couple of years, fortunately. But people really should be talking more about traction alopecia within Black women, how common it it, and how to treat it.
You are correct but it still is a large portion of our sistas who DO have issues because if what they do to their hair & scalps. It's not correct to say the main issue is health related because while there ARE many such as you beautiful queen, MAJORITY have issues because yes, tight braids all the time...wigs...weaves.. constantly doing lots of different hairstyles with the hair pulled up....
I happen to come from a family where in my immediate fam, none of us ( my mother sisters & myself) wore any fake hair nor ever got relaxers. My youngest sister got a relaxer in her early adulthood after myself, mom & other sis has moved out of state to care for my grandmother. Either me or mom had still been doing baby sis' hair for her,
Now although she got relaxed one time, still to this day neither of my sisters mom or myself have ever worn fake hair in any way shape or form. But almost ALL of my female extended family did & do, on both sides of my family. And almost all of them tend to have issues especially with not understanding why their hair doesn't grow like mine & my sisters when we're in the same family. We have told them for decades it's literally about taking care of the hair & scalp keeping it moisturized, ends protected, and NOT suffocating our heads with fake hair, nor constantly straightening & drying out our real hair either. Majority of black women grew up for decades passing down traditions & styles that are NOT for our hair types.
What I want to know is who let their baby sit there through all of this?? That's a whole child playing with the rubix cube And who is still booking her ? Because ain't no way ... She's clearly ignorant to hair. I never go to salons anyway 🤷🏽♀️
Yikes 😳. I’m a 40 year old cosmetologist and I have clients praise me for including shampooing in my services. I was floored to here this so frequently. I’m only 18 years in the game but a shampoo is ALWAYS included with service.
I would prefer to pay $300 to African braiders because they are used to handling our REAL diverse textures of hair. Plus I don't have to deal with the unprofessionalism. These new hair stylists are young, hood, and have no clue about how to NURTURE their clients hair. They are just used to throwing weaves and wigs on top of people's heads. I stopped going to hair salons about 8 years ago.
@Niko Noir She was literally adding to what you said. Comprehension is key before trying to throw shade. You about as nasty as the stylist in the video. Tf
Dominicans are notorious for being anti-Black so slipping relaxer in products used to be a thing back in the day. But the natural hair movement has grown on many so this is practically unheard of these days.
They always used to complain about how coarse my hair was, ripping through my hair to go fast knowing it's thick and I'm tenderheaded. But even that was better than being called out on camera for a $25 inconvenience fee. Wtf is this. Looks like a young girl too. Makes me want to cry!
I don’t blame her, it’s the people who patronize her I blame because they are the ones who gave her the effrontery and audacity to be this disrespectful and dumb. If no one was coming to her to do her she wouldn’t be this foolish.
THIS…..!!! This was the comment I was looking for! She’s earning a living! Someone is paying her. A lotta someone’s! The clients that BOOK her and PAY her fees… validate her standpoint.
I'm laughing so hard! 🤣🤣🤣 Your first line reminds of a thing Nigerians say when they've been disrespected; " I no blame you, na myself I blame". It's sort of, if I hadn't given you the opportunity, this wouldn't have happened
Never EVER blame the victims!! POC have always felt the need to accept things thinking we deserve it (aka mothers perming their babies hair 🤢 because they think it's necessary)
I do my own hair. I've learned a lot about my hair over the years while natural, to relax then back to natural. I've learned how to braid my hair, crochet, perm rods etc. No way in hell I'm subjecting myself to someone that wants to charge a crazy amount of money because it's an inconvenience to them when they're really just lazy.
Just here to say im Dominican and my mom is a Dominican hair stylist and let me just say not every Dominican hair salon will do that. My mom would NEVER do something like that to someone. But yes it has happened and it has happened in African American hair salons too. It’s a problem in the whole diaspora it’s sad
YAAAAASSSS!! Funny enough i was always happiest when my friends did my braids & i didn’t experience any hair loss. I don’t have the patience to do braids to myself, i salute you sis! Saving money & building that arm strength 😆
These young 'uns 😄. They're suffering from delusions of grandeur. They want to feel like like they have elite clientele. The reality is that can't do hair and they're not getting paid. Just greedy. I'll bet you can count her clients on one hand. Smh...
I would never ever go to her anyway. Her attitude isn't appealing and if I don't like your hair, I am not patronizing you. The more I see these things the more I know that as a people, we don't like our natural characteristics. This is why black women relax and wear weaves. Our own people scrutinize us more than other races.
Late to the game, but this makes me so grateful to have a hairdresser who knows how to do my hair and prices her services at a reasonable rate, regardless of length. I cannot imagine being overcharged for such a sloppy result.
This is why I started doing my own hair because of stuff like this. And she said so herself that she's not one of those old school braiders at least with the old school braid is all you needed was some blue magic hair grease and some gel. nowadays if you go to these new braiders they use a shit ton of shine n jam and that hair style will only last like 2 weeks.
I'm a hairstylist and this is appalling!! I'm old school and I have had new clients coming to me from elsewhere, telling me what's going on...charging for parts!? Clients come to us to be pampered, relax and enjoy the experience...I should hope. I enjoy the process from beginning to end and I mean from scratching the flakes...lol. How do they have a business? The health of my clients is so important to me, from kinky coarse and up. I love what I do and my prices are fair. It makes us hairstylist who cares look bad then we struggle with our business cause of this nonsense! Word of mouth is still everything...well, at least to me.
I’ve NEVER gotten my hair done professionally because we didn’t have the money when I was growing up. Now that I do have the $$$, I still don’t go because I prefer to be in control of my own time/hair health and would rather do something else with that. But most importantly, I REFUSE TO BEG TO PAY FOLKS THAT DON’T RESPECT ME. Same reason I don’t get my nails done. Preciate the video though! Will def by trying that claw clip hairstyle❤❤❤
This is why I only do my own hair. No one is going to care about my hair goals and the health of my hair and scalp but myself! I band my hair as a protective style and wear a hijab. This girl wild 😂 and she need counseling and I’m not joking when I say that.
A Dominican blow out on 4c hair before a protective style meant to encourage health and growth…make it make sense. And then to expect some folks to have that same self hatred for their natural texture and do the same before they come in ur seat, esp when some ppl braid their hair to also save money??? she doesn’t care abt the health of her clients hair
The last time I went to the salon, the lady told me that my hair needed to be relaxed coz it's too kinky for the style I wanted. I told her I had done it before myself. She said my hair is hard to manage. I just left. Now I mostly do my hair myself, or my neighbour does it for me, for free. But something I noticed, the male stylists were nicer and more respectful BTW, I'm Mozambican in Mozambique, so the problem seems universal
If our hair can take anything why is it so hard to find black women with long hair? That kind of hairstylist perpetuates lies about black hair. It’s so strong. It can take anything. All those passes with heat. That tiny toothed comb. With that type of mindset being so pervasive I’m surprised we got as much hair as we do. It’s alright though - I’ve never had hair as long and thick as I did when I STOPPED going to this type of person and learned to do and care for my hair my own self - highly recommended for all black women.
yup! been wearing my natural hair for months mainly due to the price of getting it done, i’ve been rocking my mini twists and i love them!! i get a lot of compliments on them too and can wear them for 1-2 weeks at a time! so if anyones looking for a style!!! tip for mini twists i’ve discovered over my months of doing them: -braid 3-4 ways down then switch to a twist -don’t braid to the bottom of the hair get to your ends and get a little extra moisturizing product (whatever you use/LOC) and and then slightly twist them!
7:42 Yo! I know the stylist she is talking about. I was charged $235 for the same service for the length of my hair. The service itself is already overpriced in my book. She does a great job but needs a little work on the customer service side of things. Needless to say, I will be doing my hair again and saving my coin and time. I just refuse to pay outlandish prices anymore and be punished for having long natural hair. 😒
These prices are ridiculous. That’s why I braid my own hair and I put in the work to learn how to do it. Anybody can two strand twist! It’s no damn miracle!
Every professional has the right to choose their policies. Be very, very selective about who you let touch your beautiful (but fragile and complex) hair. Although I am blessed to have access to amazing professionals, I prefer to handle everything myself these days. Lift up those good professionals in your community (refer them to friends & family, buy the extras once in a while) because they are a true blessing!
I allowed my ex to take me to a Dominican hair shop because he always wanted my hair straight i cried when i tried to restore my curls they were completely fried i had to do a big chop i literally cried the whole day i refuse since then to even straighten my hair that was 5 years ago
I used to be a licensed cosmetologist and I did not pursue it because I do not have the patience to do hair. I have had A LOT of women to be upset with me because I have a license but did not want to do hair. They see that I can do MY hair and I do it well. What I've learned is NO one can treat my hair better than me. Though I dislike this particular stylist and her approach, I can understand why there are stylist who do this. If you are a busy stylist and your schedule is booked up, then I can understand why there is a need to reschedule. HOWEVER a good stylist will have a consultation. Consultation is there to not only get an idea what the client wants but it is also to check out the client's hair. Time is money and I respect people who respect the time. The more hair you have the longer it takes, It is just facts. It's not your fault that you have a lot of hair but it is just facts. A stylist's time is crucial. One because if a person has a lot of hair or is late it throws the stylist's schedule off and that can actually impede on the next client that she has. It is quite easy to be critical of a stylist when most of us are not a licensed stylist and putting in the work. The amount of stress that a stylist's hands go through is insane. I've known plenty of women who developed carpal tunnel and was forced to retire. In my humble opinion, pricing should be in ranges and predicated not only by the style but should also consider length and density. Consider also the amount of product the stylist is using. More hair = more product and more time. I can imagine that running a successful salon would require a lot of overhead to keep things running smooth and professionally. Now I do understand when it comes to price ranging there can be an issue with FAIR and HONEST pricing as I do know that there have been stylist to just give you the highest. That is not fair. To sum this all up from a business p.o.v. I get it. My conclusion is LEARN TO DO YOUR OWN HAIR. OR search for a stylist who offers FREE consultations. If I was a stylist I would book all of my consultations in the early morning BEFORE my shop even opens. Consultations should be free in my opinion. Proper scheduling and proper consultations would solve a lot of the issues I see going on the salon. Stylist have a bad habit of just fitting new people into their schedule. NOT good.
She was trying to do that on purpose I don’t go to salon I do my own natural hair. She was mad at that girls hair purposely burning her hair with those flat irons you already could she through her hair she was just running of at the mouth
I just found a stylist that seems to know what he’s doing to maintain the health of my hair and is actually professional. He doesn’t charge a down payment on a house either. I plan to continue going to him even if he moves to a different location. Having basic professionalism, tact, and skill will get you a long way. Edit: I’m nowhere near a professional but even I could have braided that young lady’s hair without frying it to hell
Young lady did not know better to get out of that woman's chair and never return. It's jealous people like that who will damage your hair. Just look at how many passes she did! Young lady's natural hair was thick and gorgeous!
I get my hair done by Dominicans. You can ask for little heat with a roller set. They haven't used relaxer, but they do use keratin treatments which do loosen texture for at least few months and add shine. Not every natural wants that or benefits from that so yes, be careful!
This is how we know self hate is real. She wants to damage that girl's lovely head of hair. I know I feel the hate when these types are in my head. They pull the comb through and I can hear my hair ripping. She should lose her customers. ALL of them.
I remember an afro salon that would chemically relax your hair without even asking, it wasn't in the description, they would do this before washing, blowing out then using heat straightening irons.
Then why is she a beautician? They should be able to deal with all hair types. I already came across 2 'hair stylists' on Instagram with the same blow out policy. 'Make sure your hair is blowdried or you will be charged extra'
The best racists are self-racists. The best misogynists are women. Etc. Sad. The customer at the beginning has a history of abuse, or she would have left.
See these stylists expect top tare pay for low quality hair service yet throw hidden fees and services towards the original price while complaining about us not do half their job when it’s their job to do the service
Everytime she stops and leaves the iron on her hair ends for more than 1 second it gives me anxiety, i keep on thinking that her hair is going to break off 😬
I've never had an African braider try this on me. They just asked that it be washed with no product. I would not go to someone who told me my natural 4a - 4c was a problem. Then she had the nerve to do multiple passes on that girl's hair. I'm getting over damage that happened when I trusted so called pros who abused my hair with heat and caused damage to the hair I had finally grown out. I don't use heat and don't go to beauticians anymore. I was unfortunately at the mercy of set stylists when I worked as an extra. I worked in that industry for a year and in that year, because the roles sometimes required straightened hair, they ran roughshod through my natural hair. I could done a big chop and gone back to a twa at that point, my hair was ruined. I had invested in heat protectants and kept up the routines that helped my hair grow. But the stylists (black stylists!) Would rip through my hair without a care. Ironically, the most gentle people on those sets were the white stylists! I was truly scared to trust them, but they ended up being the most gentle. And did a great job creating the 50s African American styles for the job. Sad to think that. But I still love my natural hair, it's getting strong again, and I don't know when I'll ever let another person (except my mom!) touch my hair.
That woman doesn't know how to conduct business let alone putting her hands in my head. As a business owner, you never let potential clientele see you acting in poor character no matter the circumstance. She's just as terrible of a hairdresser as she is a human. Unacceptable!!!
This is why I rarely go get my damn hair done! It’s not even just for 4C hair it’s for all voluminous and very curly hair types, they charge twice as much for something that can cost way less if you were relaxed. Like what the heck! 😡 I’m not about to relax my hair just for their convenience 🙄
This is why I do my own hair. I refuse to let these greedy, evil, malicious, texturist beauticians out their devil fingers in my scalp.
And I’m sorry, can your real strands make an appearance, cuz that quick weave….Chile 😂
@@therescuedlife9881 quick weave?

If our hair was so strong it wouldn't be so short and baldheaded on so many black women 👀

and all those passes w the straightener and aggressive brushing w that thin comb ? yeah she took aggression out on that poor girl’s hair 😭
No Fr and look at the stylist hair I wouldn’t have let her touch my head with that thing she had on her head
I agree! Times have changed so much, we’ll never get back to reasonable pricing and quality professionalism/customer service!
I would like to see her Cosmetologist license before I give her respect she has not earned.
@Being Practical we are the problem a lot of times. People treat us the way we let them
Older people also would do braids too tight, damage hair and have questionable looking wigs. Let's not make this a generation thing.
Preach.
I literally cringed at how many times she put the flat iron on that girls hair. That’s abuse
Edit: I went back and counted.
On point ☝️
I know she def got heat damage from that section of hair alone. Poor girl. This is why I learn to do my own hair. Who can you really trust but you?
Yo I was screaming each pass. Each goddamn pass. I died every single time.
Yes! I agree! Hit their pockets
This probably why they started doing this honestly. We stopped putting up with the BS and now they have half the clientele.
Yes you HAVE to really vet these people!
💯
RIDICULOUS!
No way for Twists?! She’s crazy!
@@whyyou268 Yup! This quote came from a popular loc and natural hair chain.
Why I'd she so damn aggressive?! What is wrong with her??
Yes she was so rude!
Right- curly hair is MORE fragile!
Right
This is nothing but "hairstylists" being super shady like car salesmen, tacking on extra fees for nothing more but to squeeze more money out of their clients.
Lol not hot combs! 🤣🤣
The way she was ripping threw the ends with a tail comb. You will NEVER see your hair grow. I bet those ends were being snapped/popped off.
Frfr in 2 days that poor lady about to seem some breakage and thin sparse pieces everywhere idk how she sat there in let her do that I would of turned around like wait a minute why so many passes
Messing with that lady gone have most of us bald and broke
LMFAO>
She simply cannot braid.
$200 for a silk press. They call it the works for a shampoo and deep condition and trim?
Right you can really have the works ! At home these ppl barely use any product don't care if you get heat damage no mam.I do my own hair own makeup I'm going to learn how to do my nails and then I won't need to go nowhere.we all can do this just have to ask Jesus Christ for the knowlege and no how so your able in all things &make it a priority
Right bye ima just go to Walmart or Sephora . Hell even the Dominicans
I guess I do "the works" every time I wash mine..lol!
That’s too high!! I pay $75 for silk press, shampoo/conditioner and trim included. Been going to the same hairstylist for more than 10 yrs..
That girl silk press wasn’t worth 200 and the length wasn’t that long somebody ripped her off because my hair is a little longer than hers and thick asf and my silk press is usually 90
That stylist is disrespectful imo.
I’ve been doing my own natural hair since 2010. I’ve started to learn how to braid in extensions. I’m tired of these braiders overcharging to maintain their “luxury lifestyles “. If you didn’t go to school to learn how to do ALL types of hair just say that! 🗣🗣
Agreed! It’s getting ridiculous!
Me since 2009 and my hair is doing fine.
Period
Right cause when she said, "when you see that fuzz it's because the client is natural....." NO BABE It's because YOU don't know how to tuck. YOU don't know how to braid if the hair gotta be bone straight to braid up. Think about when African women braid hair, because I don't ever see they clients starting off with a silk press. THEY ARE NATURAL and the hair looks bomb.
And on top of that these are the same people who say, "braids not for white people hair type" but you think you need to come in hair bone straight to make it neat 🤔? The math aint mathing. Make it make sense.
A lot of them didn’t even go to school at all
This is sad.
Either me or mom had still been doing baby sis' hair for her,
So when we moved , she was afraid she didn't know how to take care of it & had someone relax it. Her hair has never been the same.
She probably recorded the video when the mom wasn’t around. I was so mad watching that video.
Ignorant. Period.
Yikes 😳. I’m a 40 year old cosmetologist and I have clients praise me for including shampooing in my services. I was floored to here this so frequently. I’m only 18 years in the game but a shampoo is ALWAYS included with service.
Lol as it should be but these stylists are making people wash and blow dry BEFORE they get to their appointment. It’s ridiculous
Moral of the story is… you gotta do your own hair! Take the time out to learn how to care for it. The best decision you’ll ever make
Agreed
Seriously, how many passes do you need for that thin piece of hair, LAWD she fried it 😧🫣☹️
That's insane . My ancestors have been braiding natural hair with ease . No pre stretch or nothing . & bang it out with ease .
🥵 so heat damage is not a concern?
It never is unfortunately 😩
Exactly she did 8+ passes on that child's hair with those flat irons 😪
I would prefer to pay $300 to African braiders because they are used to handling our REAL diverse textures of hair. Plus I don't have to deal with the unprofessionalism. These new hair stylists are young, hood, and have no clue about how to NURTURE their clients hair. They are just used to throwing weaves and wigs on top of people's heads. I stopped going to hair salons about 8 years ago.
I have had even African braiders ask me to blow my hair out next time i come 🙄
@@viciousreasoning504 Well kudos to you! I spoke of MY EXPERIENCE where I live. Your reply was unnecessary!🙄
@@viciousreasoning504 right. That's why I do my own hair.
@Niko Noir She was literally adding to what you said. Comprehension is key before trying to throw shade. You about as nasty as the stylist in the video. Tf
@@PrinceKoffe LOOK! I SAID WTF I SAID. I DIDNT ASK FOR YOUR MF OPINION ON IT! MIND YOUR MF BUSINESS! NOW IM BEING NASTY🙄
No because I'm traumatised over the amount of passes she done with that straightener 😭
I saw that and I was flinching everytime she kept doing it wth.
The stylist in the beginning is INSANE!! If our hair is an inconvenience, why is she doing our hair? She can do a clientelle with hair to her liking.
Say it louder for the people in the back
I'm laughing so hard! 🤣🤣🤣
Your first line reminds of a thing Nigerians say when they've been disrespected; " I no blame you, na myself I blame". It's sort of, if I hadn't given you the opportunity, this wouldn't have happened
Never EVER blame the victims!! POC have always felt the need to accept things thinking we deserve it (aka mothers perming their babies hair 🤢 because they think it's necessary)
Those people are as ignorant as her. She's supposed to a professional and have the knowledge. I blame her and the school that trained her.
EXACTLY. Not sure why we beg to pay ANYONE
She got issues! Forreal
Agreed
This might be why I stop going to salons decades ago. 🤷🏾♀️ I'm very happy with my curls and my hair is simple to do.
P
Ok bc I love my Dominicans esp their hair salons and I was sad when I heard it.
I would never let a Dominican touch me head EVER
I have very thick full 4b/c hair, I always get an extra charge because of my length too. just ridiculous. now I have lots and I'm so thankful!
I’m learning how to do my own box braids and twists. I’m over it. Once I learn how to grip and cornrow, it’s OVA
YAAAAASSSS!! Funny enough i was always happiest when my friends did my braids & i didn’t experience any hair loss. I don’t have the patience to do braids to myself, i salute you sis! Saving money & building that arm strength 😆
My hair is thick and long too. I had to learn to two string twist myself. Uggh I found one good braided and she is good
These young 'uns 😄.
This is why I learned how to do my own hair. No one is going to disrespect my hair.
Late to the game, but this makes me so grateful to have a hairdresser who knows how to do my hair and prices her services at a reasonable rate, regardless of length. I cannot imagine being overcharged for such a sloppy result.
This is sad. In Africa they don’t do that at most of the braiding shops. They braid the hair in its natural state and the style comes out amazing.
She came in hot, sis was pissed. The client could not have felt good about her hair.
Every time she ran that flat iron over baby girls hair…my ancestors cried another tear Goddamn
This is why I only do my own hair. No one is going to care about my hair goals and the health of my hair and scalp but myself! I band my hair as a protective style and wear a hijab. This girl wild 😂 and she need counseling and I’m not joking when I say that.
LOL SAME to your first sentence😂😂😂
But something I noticed, the male stylists were nicer and more respectful
BTW, I'm Mozambican in Mozambique, so the problem seems universal
Giving that woman heat damage for some braids. That’s insane!
4:16 the yelling and stumbling over her words 😭🤣😂
If our hair can take anything why is it so hard to find black women with long hair? That kind of hairstylist perpetuates lies about black hair. It’s so strong. It can take anything. All those passes with heat. That tiny toothed comb. With that type of mindset being so pervasive I’m surprised we got as much hair as we do. It’s alright though - I’ve never had hair as long and thick as I did when I STOPPED going to this type of person and learned to do and care for my hair my own self - highly recommended for all black women.
She needs to take a class or read a book about black economics, she will learn so much and it might change her mindset :/
yup! been wearing my natural hair for months mainly due to the price of getting it done, i’ve been rocking my mini twists and i love them!! i get a lot of compliments on them too and can wear them for 1-2 weeks at a time! so if anyones looking for a style!!!
tip for mini twists i’ve discovered over my months of doing them:
-braid 3-4 ways down then switch to a twist
-don’t braid to the bottom of the hair get to your ends and get a little extra moisturizing product (whatever you use/LOC) and and then slightly twist them!
I wouldn't even get my hair done from someone who did their hair like that lol
This is exactly why I avoid most hair salons. Why would I pay someone to damage my hair 🙄 🤦🏾♀️
She's talking about hair popping out of the braid. Sis, have you never heard of braid gel!?
This poor baby. Not only making her feel bad about the natural state of her hair but also burning it.
I’m so sorry to hear that! I hope you restored your curls!
NOT good.
YEZZZZZ... The quick weave 🤣😂 I'm wondering what HER natural hair looks like
Welcome back!! The pause at her edges killed me lol.
Thanks glad to be back! 🥰
This is a perfect example of why I do my own hair/styles. These new day cosmetologists are something else! I'll pass!
That woman should have gotten up from the chair. If you hate 4a to 4c hair you can stay the hell away from me.
no this trick DIDN'T take that flatiron over that same piece of hair ELEVEN TIMES!!!!!!! WTF!
You would never see this weird mess at a white salon. We do this to each other.
There is only ONE hair salon where I am that does natural black hair and they only take damaged straightened OR permed which is sad
How do they even call themselves a black hair salon if they basically work with straight hair all day tho? Just work for Supercuts or sum. 😑
@@gummy5862 not the super cuts 😭😭😭😭😭
I get my hair done by Dominicans. You can ask for little heat with a roller set. They haven't used relaxer, but they do use keratin treatments which do loosen texture for at least few months and add shine. Not every natural wants that or benefits from that so yes, be careful!
Thank you for saying this
This is how we know self hate is real.
They slap a fee on everything at this point. 💀
There are a lot of lazy beauticians on the market these days. She really doesn’t like doing natural hair.
Then why is she a beautician? They should be able to deal with all hair types. I already came across 2 'hair stylists' on Instagram with the same blow out policy. 'Make sure your hair is blowdried or you will be charged extra'
Africans in Africa have been braiding tightly coiled hair for thousands of years. But these new age hair stylist can't do it. SMH!!!
If I have to flat iron my hair for braid then I might as well just rock a silk press and call it a day. SMH 🤦🏾♀️
The same thing happened to me. I got charged an additional 25 for having alot of hair and thick, yet my hair was not on my shoulders.
Gel is enough to smooth out our hair for braids! That lady is wild smh
The best racists are self-racists. The best misogynists are women. Etc. Sad.
The customer at the beginning has a history of abuse, or she would have left.
Random but the women's hair you were showing in the videos was absolutely gorgeous.
See these stylists expect top tare pay for low quality hair service yet throw hidden fees and services towards the original price while complaining about us not do half their job when it’s their job to do the service
🤣🤣🤣”if you book thirsty…” 4:24
I feel you.
No one touches my hair too.💞
The woman that braids my hair never asked me to come prestretched before braiding. This is crazy!
😡 I’m not about to relax my hair just for their convenience 🙄
my eyes literally watering watching her do 500 passes on her ends noooo 😢
“That quick weave was all I needed to know” 😭😭😭
