More and more BW are embracing our natural hair. I know we have a long way to go, but our own growth and appreciation of our kinks and coils DOES HELP other BW and girls. Demonstrate mercy and patience with BW who ask questions.

True, I am seeing us embrace it more, it’s just..you’re right we do have a long way to go. I’m probably just being impatient with our growth as a collective.

It really always is deeper than hair, whether we want to admit it to ourselves or not! Thank you for this! ❤️

Personally what helps me is walking out of the house and not caring what people think and I know that's very difficult for women. We want men to find us beautiful and we want to feel just as beautiful as other women. I try to find that self love. The self love is what radiates.

Tip 1 is be careful who you follow/ look up to for natural hair tutorials. Look for people who have a good personality + kind, tell the truth etc. Tip 2 practice wearing your hair around the house, get use to your hair. Tip 3 If your too busy for doing you hair then try wearing a wig/ extensions close to YOUR hair type not anyone else hair type. Tip 4 Find your hair signature style! A style you can always rely on even going through a bad day. Tip 5 don't fall into using the hair type system chart religiously try leaning towards hair pictures that match your hair. Practice loving yourself ❤
I never had a relaxer before but my mom did this when she stop using relaxers in 2009. She was very sad that her hair wasnt healthy. The scalp could be seen throughout her hair many bald spots. I remember her standing in the mirror and I looked up and said "its going be ok mommy" I remember saying "you are beautiful anyway mommy" because she IS beautiful. My mom took my words to heart and started loving herself more. She used wigs somedays but made sure her hair was clean + healthy. Now her hair is past her shoulders and is the fullest it has ever been. ❤❤❤

Another great way to transition into wearing your natural hair is to transition into bob hairstyles so if its shorter then the length won't be a shock. Like curly bobs, bob braids/faux locs could be a great start. Then after that wearing a braid/twist out won't be a huge jump. If you're wearing long silky styles then that going straight to natural hair may be too difficult.

You’ve never had a relaxer! I love that! My sister’s and I had been getting relaxers since we were 11 but as adults we have all gone back to our natural hair and you couldn’t pay me to put that stuff back on my head 🙅🏾‍♀️🙅🏾‍♀️
