@Carol DaRonch I can relate to your experience. I was grabbed as I entered the elevator of my apartment building and held at knifepoint in an attempted rape. He made clear what he wanted to do. He took me from the elevator and headed to my apartment. I remember saying a prayer and became calm. I pretended to shake will trying to unlock my door. I handed him the keys and ran to nearby steps. I jumped 2 flights and screamed. People came running from everywhere. I truely believed he would have killed me. You showed great strength. It's not easy to get over such events but you saved your own life. Bundy was ruthless. You helped bring his reign of terror to a stop.

I would just hate to think what could have happened had that car not pulled up at the moment Carol broke free from Bundy. Would Bundy have continued to pursue her, or would he have considered it too high risk? If he had continued to pursue her, could she escape him twice? All I can say is, I'm glad Carol survived and Bundy is gone.
You’re a courageous women to escape Ted Bundy’s grip. I was amazed how you weren’t fooled by Bundy changing his appearance in his line up. Ted Bundy was not as clever as he thought he was.
Yes she was very fortunate to escape when so many poor girls lost their lives to this madman. I saw a video somewhere with Carol blaming herself (wrongly) for the death of Debra Kent whom Bundy abducted from Viewmont High School and took to his apartment shortly after Carol escaped. She blamed herself for Debra's abduction which is incredibly sad. She has nothing to blame herself for, Bundy would have continued to go on killing victims at random. Also Debra's abduction and Bundy's confession is chilling, especially when he admitted her kept her alive for 12 hours in his apartment and a further 12 hours after she had died, and then all that was found of her remains was her patella. It must have been an absolutely terrifying experience for the poor girl, it breaks my heart reading about it.

But Bundy's mo of sneaking behind the victims and striking them with a crowbar took away any chances of fighting back. I way i see it, Carol had the chance none of the others did, she was given a second chance to live when she got away. She should be proud of herself, she saved her own life and also saved many others by unmasking this monster to the whole world.
As someone who has lived through a lot myself and made it through the 70's, I think of how I wish we could go back in time. To have the wisdom we do today and go back to change things. Especially for all the horrific 70's and 80's crimes - to prevent all the pain. Of course if we could change that we could change everything. I don't know what the world would look like then but my older self wonders.
I'm just so glad that you reacted as quickly and reflexively as you did to get away from that animal. You truly are a survivor and an inspiration. The more I learned about what happened afterwards, I was absolutely shocked and repulsed that after you escaped that Bundy not only killed Debi Kent, but tried abducting a music teacher first. His conduct and behavior in Utah was particularly shocking to me...4 murders in as many weeks...And so many younger people who only learned of him through a Zac Efron movie...they will never truly understand without watching documentaries like this. I'm so glad you fought and lived. I'm glad now we are taught to fight back. It made me nauseated when I learnt they used to tell women not to.
