There was an interesting documentary produced a few years ago where this topic of what is our essence was explored. As part of the documentary someone asked many people on the streets of London, “What is your essence?” The answers were very interesting. Some admitted that they had never thought about it. Others were not sure. Some tried to respond by saying their name, or their profession. But most had a feeling that it was something deeper inside that goes beyond the everchanging and temporary body that each person is currently residing in. When most people think of themselves, they think of their body. They think, "I am the body. So therefore, I am white," or, "I am black," or, "I am this," or, "I am that", "I am a woman." or "I am a man." Then they think in terms of all the labels on their bodies, you know, "I'm a professor. I am a Ph D." So, you've got all these different labels but the question is, are you your labels? Are you the body upon which all these labels are placed? The body and all its labels are not you. It is not a question of believing, but rather embarking on a journey of self-discovery. Wanting to experience the actual truth of who I really am.
Some people die not knowing who they are and that's something that stuck to me. And it just made me forget about having a job , money , and it focused me on it and I barley know my self and I like how your focused on teens but also adults because teens have more time ahead of them to find this out while adults are in marcus aurelius shoes where they have limited time
As a teenager i have asked myself this question. as i think about it i can never fully come up with an answer. it is never clear. i know that if i do these things i will come up with a clearer answer. i still am a teenager and i am still changing so i may not fully understand but as i progress through my teenage years and continue to ask myself these questions i think i will slowly start to know who i am what what i may be able to become
I am now 27 years old today august 13th, 2021 I started to right down the question who am I I’ve asked this long ago and I was ok for really long time now i’m back to that question of figuring out what I want in life. I’m struggling with loving myself fully. sometimes I look in the mirror and try to find the answer but it just seems empty
We are constantly changing as human beings spend time alone meditate. I struggle with the same but the more I spend time with myself I am learning to love myself more and more!
We are built and taught. I dont think you should forget what your parents and teachers have taught you. They should reflect upon what they've been taught and identify what is best based on their beliefs and their discerniment on what's good and bad.

No more bullshit. I will answer those questions with absolute honesty . I will try my absolute best to figure out who I actually am .
