- Hounds of Love (1985) track 16 (1997 re-edition bonus track)
It wouldn't take me long
To tell you how to find it,
To tell you where we'll meet.
This little girl inside me
Is retreating to her favourite place.
Go into the garden.
Go under the ivy,
Under the leaves,
Away from the party.
Go right to the rose.
Go right to the white rose
(For me.)
I sit here in the thunder,
The green on the grey.
I feel it all around me.
And it's not easy for me
To give away a secret--
It's not safe,
But go into the garden.
Go under the ivy,
Under the leaves,
Away from the party.
Go right to the rose.
Go right to the white rose
(For me.)
It wouldn't take me long
To tell you how to find it.
I fall to pieces anytime I hear this masterpiece. I feel sad, I feel vulnerable, I feel like I'm there, under that ivy, in that garden, away from the party, right to the white rose. And suddenly I cry and believe that most of the people are not sensitive enough to understand, to feel this way, to be emotional.
You've literally just summed up what I just experienced listening to this today, perfectly.
Its not Easy for me to give away a secret. Its just not safe.
Lots of people are sensitive enough, though. You're not alone, Sergio.
@@trappistpreserves it's good to know that, I think the world needs more people to be as sensitive as we are. Have a nice day!
@@sergio.canzoneri You too Sergio.
This has to be the most beautuful song Kate ever wrote,
Harks back to Kick Inside.
And this masterpiece was a B-Side ? She was beyond amazing.
This song deserved more than to be a B side.
SO much agree! It's a pearl!
Should have been an album interlude track ffs!!!!
That's very often the case.
How on earth was this not included on the original Hounds of Love release?
It’s a sin that this track is hidden
it was written specifically to be the B-side to "Running Up That Hill".
Because there would be too much world-emotion
B-sides were little treasures. Another great B-side is Fleetwood Mac’s Silver Spring
Because it's a beautiful secret.
My favorite Kate Bush song - words cannot express how perfect this it. It reaches so deep into the soul !! so wonderful.
my funeral song
Cool, but stay alive yeah?
Mine too
A shame it's so short.
Definitely underrated and unknown
My brother loved Kate . I miss him xx
Hope youre ok Paul....and I hope your brother is happy too....wherever he is x
I cry everytime I hear this.
Very moving song 🌹

I'll be waiting for you

In case someone needs it
thank you!

Thnx love
This deals with the affairs that either Anne Bolyne or Catherine Howard had whilst married to Henry VIII. They would've taken place in the gardens of Hampton Court. The reference to 'white rose' is not insignificant. A truly wondrous song.
criminally slept on and immensely underrated
Takes a lot to beat the aching emotion in this. Her almost crying singing. One of if not her best and as a B side. That album was well before it’s time and still incredible now
The genius of KB....
The essence of a child.....perfectly encapsulated....I am taken back 50 years.....so beautiful......
The most beautiful song ever
Perfection…
The Great Kate's greatest moment.
Just buckles me every time.
There is no other song that encompasses my struggle with nostalgia better than this.
This song is sacred to me.
Hauntingly Beautiful!
Beautiful song
One of my favourite Kate Bush songs... it always takes me away, somewhere sacred. Her delivery is nothing short of perfect ... it touches the void 💜
On the album hounds of love her backing vocals were crazy sick .❤️❤️❤️
There's a five minute discrepancy in time between Sides A and B - more than enough room for this song on Side A. Definitely feel this could have worked right after Mother Stands for Comfort. I always thought the darkness of that song should be followed by something that was lighter in tone but not as 'musically driving' as Cloudbusting.
I get your point but I also like the fact that side A is pretty much all uptempo pop songs that could be released as singles - even mother stands for comfort has that solemn but driving beat that makes it fit with hounds of love, big sky etc. (But also she should totally have released under the ivy as a standalone single - or just used all the 'b sides' of hounds of love for an ep? They deserved a proper release)
my Favourite Kate Bush song love it!!!
sam in here.
How many people have found this song and realized the depth of this masterpiece,......... and immediately went into the garden,....looking, I was there under the leaves away from the party. I hope some day, someone finds me, I have a secret to tell You... xo KB....those are my initials as well, lol.
It is a tragedy that this was cut from ‘Hounds Of Love’. It reminds me dearly of my childhood and being a little girl. In my backyard in our garden we have a climbing rose bush with Ivy growing around it, and every year in early June right before my birthday, the roses bloom. We used to have my birthday parties in that backyard when I was young, and even then, when I got shy and wanted to escape the crowd, I would go into the garden, go under the Ivy, under the leaves, away from the party, go right to the rose.
number one song for my funeral. masterpiece
I was trying to find a closing song for my sister's funeral, who was a Kate Bush fan, especially in her teenage years and found this stunning track. Just hope I don't burst into tears next week in front of everyone. :)
I thought exactly the same. If this song doesn't move you, nothing will. Love her ❤️
It's my funeral song too ❤
Kate Bush is a living legend.
who decided to keep this of the original hounds of love album? this is musical gold only if it was longer
it doesnt really fit the whole "ninth wave" thing and its also kinda similar to and dream of sheep
ua-cam.com/video/RakusC4m3io/v-deo.html
@@orangerichard56 The Ninth Wave was only the second half of the album. The first half were unrelated songs. It could've been put there.
This song is very poignant to me 🙏
@@razrv3lc
I did just that with the cassette issue.
Makes my heart well up and nearly burst in my chest... so beautiful... one of (and sometimes is) my favourite(s). Gorgeous.
Like a flawless gem.
This speaks to the soul ❤
Just........beautiful.......
I love every song she has ever written but this is my very favourite
It’s just so beautiful just Kate and the piano
It reminds me of hiding in my nana and grandads garden when I was a child just to be away and alone and nobody knew where I was it’s like freedom this song
This is just ridiculously good. Wow.
Super emotive vocals
One of my favourite tunes.
Stunning
Kate Bush is everything
When I was a child I was very happy in my own company, perhaps because I was an only child for the first 10 years of life but also because I’ve always suffered from anxiety for as long as I can remember. I enjoyed being and playing alone and would get anxious and shy around new people.
In my late teens I lost my virginity to a sexual assault. It made me retreat to a place of loneliness but this time I couldn’t feel comfortable there. I wanted someone to help me and support me and take away that lonely feeling but I couldn’t bring myself to tell anyone until years later.
This song (and many other Kate songs) completely speak to me. I love her ♥️
Mind blowing!
This song so good I replayed it
masterpiece
I just listened to this on 45 (the b-side to Running Up That Hill)
My funeral song
How fabulously fabulous .......
2022 and still such an epic song!!
This is one of my favorite b side songs. Very powerful. I love this song.
Perfection!
precious music a really musician :)
wow!!!!!
I know your 63 right now about to be 64 but if you read this Kate you weren't meant for the 80s you and your music was meant for right now we in our 30s now need your music now. I do hope you are getting paid for this exposure. You deserve it.
I’m not a fan of piano ballads but Kate gets me with this song (and others by her ❤️)
Here from ‘I hate Suzie’. Criminal that I’ve never heard this before
When I'm gone look for me under the leaves
Thanks
So so poignant 🥀
The one and only Kate Bush CLASS.!
just luvy :-)
Anyone here from"I hate Suzie"???? The beauty of the scene and this song together were intensely beautiful....it looked like she was floating in space at the very end of the episode.....she was acting out a fake death scene....but she really was dead inside at that point in her life after all the BS....the program was the opposite of what I was expecting ie thought it would be good but it was even better....was amazed, the best acting of Billie Piper's career...
Oh KT, so beautuful and one of my favourite 'go to' tracks. As a child I had the W instead of R pronunciation speach defects. I was older when this was released, but singing along to it helps.
HAUNTING > FEAR and LOVE !!
This is about the love I'll never have.
This my favourite song on Ninth Wave. Hounds/Ninth was a double album.
The song was hidden away as a B side because it is a shy emotion, not to be portrayed to the world
Complete. i dissolve each time I hear it.
🌹
How does she do it xxxxx Kate
This breaks me wide open.
My favorite song about the Feminine Mysteries:
The Rose of endless Unfolding 🌹
Ceases to amaze me anyone goes out of the way to dislike a video like this, Like I can understand feeling neutral to this music, but who the fuck goes through the effort like "Im gonna dislike this Kate Bush B side"
I urge you to listen to ‘Minute Taker’ version of this it’s incredible, being a life long fan of Kate bush I didn’t discover the original till today and I’m blown away
Had to come back and say thank you for this. Brilliant cover, loved it.
People who gave dislike were holding phone upside down
Poison ivy
Why isn't this much longer???? Shame on whoever let this piece of Utopia down...the label, the radio, even Kate, whoever was to blame for not making this a single
Only Kate...
just found this from “i hate suzie” … WOW
It feels like Florence's Great Gatsby song. No shade, I adore Florence and I'm sure she'd be delighted to be likened to Kate
Wait... It just ends?!
This is the song of introverts…
I wonder sometimes of the white rose in the song, and if she was hinting at all about the German resistance movement and whether it is more than the exquisite lovers’ meeting document it portends
I think you might be on to something, based only on my feelings and knowledge of Kate Bush's intellectual and emotional interests
Oh and the reference to the 'party'
Yep, Sophie and her brother Hans Scholl and the White Rose organisation that fought against the Nazis.
I always like that bit being from Yorkshire, i leave white roses at memorials
I don't think I ever noticed before, but Kate Bush actually sounds kind of like Joanna Newsom when she sings this way. And that's definitely a plus for me.
I Hate Suzie... is going to bring everyone here.
omg I’d been meaning to watch that for ages but now I know this song is in it I’ll start right away LMAO
@@kirstiehd4604 ahhaa do it! Enjoy x
Unbelievable... a b side?? Really?
I hate suzie brought me here.
I can't believe this masterpiece isn't on the original track list.
