Yao is probably in the top 3 of most influential NBA players of all time. Not the greatest in skill, but definitely one of the greatest humans to ever touch a court. The way he handled the amount of hate he got coming into the NBA was amazing. He didnt get mad and become a villan on the court, he didnt whine about it and blame everyone else for his mistakes, and he treated people who were mean to him with the same amount of respect as anyone else he knew. A truly incredible human being. I hope his height doesnt affect his health, i hope he sticks around for a long time.
@@deeznutz8320 yeah because he came from an asian leauge which black basketball players looked at pretty much as players not good enough to be in the NBA. Not the greatest in skill? If he had another 4-5 seasons, I'm 100% sure he would make it to top 5-10 centers of all time. He didn't play long enough. But if he played another 4-5 seasons at the same level, he easily gets in top 10. Top 5 if he won a ring or two. Name another big man who could play like a BIG MAN in the post with the post moves, hooks, turnaround jumpers, and just back you up and dunk over you, shot 90% from the FT line, and block the f**k out of the entire league, and lastly, can hold Shaq and make Big Ben look like a child.

Most people don’t know that more people in china watch the NBA than the entire population of the USA. So when Yao stepped onto the court it meant so much to them.
Yao Ming improved his skill every season in the NBA. The season prior to his playoff injury, he was unstoppable and the best Center in any given game. There was media debate on best center between Dwight Howard or Yao Ming. Any serious NBA fans would know the answer is, Yao Ming. former NBA Commissioner, David Stern, stated Yao Ming deserved the HoF honor for his involvement in expanding the popularity of basketball in China and bridged NBA for future success. He was/is the NBA ambassador of China.

Wow.... amazing speech.... classy... respect to Yao!
A legend on and off the court. A humble giant that had amazing skills and makes me love the game even more
Very nice speech. So humble.. congratulations Yao
His speech is very good, amazing!!
Happy Birthday Yao Ming!Great Man! You're just great!
Big YAO!! till this day you still amaze us.
There never was and will never be another Yao. His game and impact in his short time is remarkable.
Why was he hated so much because he was Chinese?
@@deeznutz8320 yeah because he came from an asian leauge which black basketball players looked at pretty much as players not good enough to be in the NBA. When Yao came over they thought the only reason he made it to the NBA was because of his size and thought he would never last against "real basketball players"
Not gonna lie dawg, “not the greatest in skill” was a clown statement
Michael Scatt amongst center position players, no doubt he was one of the greatest on skill levels. Let’s not be ignorant about it
Not the greatest in skill?
If he had another 4-5 seasons, I'm 100% sure he would make it to top 5-10 centers of all time.
He didn't play long enough. But if he played another 4-5 seasons at the same level, he easily gets in top 10. Top 5 if he won a ring or two.
Name another big man who could play like a BIG MAN in the post with the post moves, hooks, turnaround jumpers, and just back you up and dunk over you, shot 90% from the FT line, and block the f**k out of the entire league, and lastly, can hold Shaq and make Big Ben look like a child.
I couldn’t be more proud of him!! The most successful basketball player in China. And Yao is the reason that I like basketball at first.
How the hell can Dikembe and Yao understand each other when they have a conversation?
craig marquez with their elbows
@john wayne gacey thats some funny shit
😂
Friendship based on respect transcend language
craig marquez bruh 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Awesome speech, amazing man, ambassador for the sport and a humble talent. The NBA, USA and Houston were granted more than they could have wished for. He made the basketball world better and closer to the heart.
Watching the early 00's legends getting inducted gives me chills...
It makes me feel damn old
I find this speech just perfect! Fun, entertaining, a lot of anecdotes, humble...
yao ming one of the best center NBA
Great speech. I was so immersed in the Bulls, I never knew much about him. But watching the footage, he really had some game. But being over 7 feet and heavy can be a death sentence to many a basketball player.....
Yao is a legend, I hope he continues to be an ambassador for both the nba and basketball in China. I hope we don't stop seeing his face. I've always been a fan, but this is really the first time I've seen Yao the person, he seems like a very easy person to like. Great speech
5:27 you can hear Yao ‘sigh’ as he grieve over her daughter choosing soccer over basketball... then he caught himself and laughed
