Thought I'd come back and pay my respect to the man RIP Meatloaf a true rockstar
right there with ya bro
AMEN..........POSSIBLY THE BEST " PERFORMANCE of Meatloaf " HERE .
I hope him n steinmen are rocking out in heaven. I loved his song. Heaven Can Wait.
He will be remembered forever. 🌹🥀🌺🌷
Same!
An absolute beast of rock n roll
Same, inspirational. He is irreplaceable
Kids, I am sixty. I saw this show when I was 17. I remember every single word and gesture and I thought Karla DeVito was God. Spent two weeks looking for a white bodysuit. Today hubs put this on, and I sang along to every word. It was more than 40 years ago. Some things are beyond time.
Emily Carter Would have paid to see that.
@@thefonzkiss it's a concert. Everyone paid to see it 😃
a king
I am so jealous. I will probably never see Meat Loaf live and even if I do, it won't be like in his prime. You were lucky :)
@@KeineHobbysHaber2009 I think he meant to see her (Emily) in the white bodysuit singing along ?
R.I.P. JIM THE WORLD LOST ONE OF THE ALL TIME GRREATEST, NO REPLACEMENT POSSIBLE......THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT SONGS OF MY YOUTH.

Amen
You better believe it , Bugman . . . .
I am still but a child. I love his music so much and I’m so saddened by his death. I remember crying on Friday when I found out at school. I hate that I never or never will be able to go see him. 🙌🏻
R.I.P Meat Loaf too
RIP big man.You made this little girl so much happier while having to cope with an abusive stepfather. The angels are now rocking out to you.Long live rock and roll!

Meat loaf put more energy and heart into this one concert than artists today do in their whole career
The summer of 1978 was the summer before I graduated from high school. I saw Springsteen six times and Meatloaf once. Bat Out Of Hell, Darkness On The Edge Of Town and The Stranger were my soundtrack. It was a wonderful time to be alive.
same summer as me. I worked as an usher at the royal oak music theater. I have talked about that concert ever since.
It was the summer before I was born lol. Rip Meatloaf.
Summer of 78 I was 10 years old, going out with Amy Bomber at Emerson Country Club in New Jersey. She was truly beautiful and though I don't think I ever even held her hand it was like Magic that we were "going out" Meatloaf was the Soundtrack of that Summer. Still love him, and now miss him.
@@jordanross9828 I only got to see Harry Chapin just a few days before he died in a truck collision. I am also a high graduate from the class of 1979 and should have attended upstate NY concerts like this at that formative age. I am amazed at their retention of lyrics, and stage awareness and their endurance. Eclectic people, but truly performers.
That's livin' large Drew! '78 was a terrific year for music and being a teenager.
Listen to it, kiddies, THIS is real music. It’s timeless.
Thank you Meat Loaf. Deepest respect. ✨🙏✨
@ Justin Case: Yes in the time of no mobile phones, social media, hype, auto tune etc. A simpler time when true talent won out & was appreciated. R.i.p big man with a huge heart
but ya gotta admit....a bit of autotune mighta ....well, you know.
True. As is much of today’s music
It took a hell of a lot for a 330 lb guy to run all over the stage during a concert. He always gave 110% of what he had ,even when he didn't have as much to give in later years. What a true performer !
I loved it waching him xx
He was, and its called cocaine
@@tomwardrop8996 and you know this because?

No, not really. Biggest douchebag in the music world. Treated everybody like crap, including his fans.

What planet have you been living on?
@@musicfanhawk4523 The one where you can watch this psycho go off on people, or read about his obnoxious comments. Your comment was out of line, and you can have your opinion .
Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman on one stage! Amazing! I love them!
This is amazing indeed. Live performances and music are so dead and weak now
This was before their falling out. After Meat became ill and unable to perform, Steinman decided to perform the songs himself. As the writer, I suppose he could do that but it didn't go over well at all. Creative egos got in the way of friendship between the two. Sort of a Simon & Garfunkel thing.
@@anitanash6780 Bad For Good is still a great album, and they've made up since. I don't think there was ever some big disagreement. Meat just wasn't taking care of his voice and couldn't go for another record. Steinman was looking for a chance to be branded on his own in the 70s anyway. I very much like Bad For Good and other things that Steinman put together aside from this, like Pandora's Box. Great albums.
@@searchthenight I worked on the tours supporting Deadringer and Bad attitude.. as for the fall out with Jim it was about the fact that Meat had destroyed his voice doing the live thing and the ensuing fallout.
Bad for good was supposed to be Meats album and he did indeed record some b4g tracks when they eventually reunited in the 90s.. I always Can't help but think about Meat singing some of the steinman/Tyler tracks too.. his songs with Jim are pretty much his best work although there are a few great non Jim and Meat tracks down the years.
NOw BOTH REST IN PEACE .............NOT COOL . #FJB #FCHINA
One of a kind. From an alcoholic, abusive father and the loss of his mother at a young age, came forth this force of nature. Instead of perishing in the childhood chaos, he rose up to the heights. Not all do. BRAVO MEAT LOAF.

Im 34. Meatloaf was before my time. But its comments like that that make me love music. The power to transport you back to your teen years is a magic that cant be overstated. Much love from a different time and place.
No one has ever matched Meatloaf for his talent and showmanship for his performances!

Begged my mom to buy this album for me. We were at Zayres in Cleveland and she was reluctant mainly due to the price ($5.49). Thank you mom for giving in. The soundtrack of my youth.
Thanks for sharing.
Wow, Zayers, forgot about that store. I'm a Clevelander. Do you mean the Zayers in North Olmsted?
This one happened to be at 73rd and Denison on the west side. I believe it was a relatively small chain in the Midwest. Thanks for sharing!
That was such an awesome memory, thanks for sharing.
Was this record more expensive than others at that time?
Thank you for sharing. I snagged this along with a cross section of 60s/70s/80s LP’s from my moms record collection in 1989 age 14. Beginning a lifelong trip into music and records. Those early classic albums grew into 400+ which I share with my son and daughter.
Perhaps now that we have lost this unique and dynamic artist, the music world will acknowledge him finally as one of the greatest rock entertainers of all time. He poured his heart and soul into everything that he sang, and the music of Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf will be with us for all time, like all truly great art. God rest his soul after an incredible life and huge contribution to popular culture.🙏👌🎤🎸🎶
So well put!

The amount of energy Meatloaf put into his music was amazing. They used to keep oxygen backstage.
It takes a lot of oxygen to run a machine that size for that hard and that long ...
His songs will forever endure as a testament to the GREAT times and great memories of my youth for neither can exist without Meatloaf and Bat out of Hell. God's speed my friend the world lost a legend today.

Saw him 1988 in Graz, Vienna. He was nearly forgotten, Bat out of hell 2 was not out yet. About a couple of hundred people in a small venue. I‘ve seen the Stones, U2, Pearl Jam, etc. But: this was the greatest experience of my concert life!

He always gave 150 per cent in each performance .outstanding vocals.

RIP Jim Steinman
Both Legends Immortal Geniuses.
As Well As RIP Bob Kulick
200 concerts in less than a year. You can hear the damage it did to Meat Loaf's voice. He was never the same singer again. He gave 10,000% of everything he had. RIP.
But he recovered and was sensational on Bat II.
well, here he is at his worst I think... no note is right... in studio he does a better job...
Just watched it one more time, 45 years on from the wide-eyed wonder of the first time around. RIP MeatLoaf, you were one of the true greats. There were ups and there were downs, but what a ride. Thank you.
I was 9 or 10 when I found this record in my moms collection 1978 or 79. I used to sing the lyrics around the house. My older sisters didn’t even get but I did. I was a mini meat loaf!!!! Love it
Lol. I've tried to be a minimeat myself
Goosebumps..was 13 when it was released..had it on 8 track..wild hot summer nights..the 70s were magic
Yes the seventies were magical. So were the fifties and sixties. Look at the crap the kids inherited from us. Nuclear war is a real possibility. Our leaders (all if them Regan, Clinton, Nixon, Carter, all if them sold out for the $$$$. Our OLIGARCHS (rich) are going to run to their Bunkers, while we are reduced to radioactive ash. MEAT LOAF is among the Lucky one's, no longer on this EARTH to face the consequences of the final count down. You and I and millions more were the lucky ones to have been born in a time frame that allowed us to have a "pursuit of happiness, as outlined in the Constitution. No more.

I wish I was around when these guys toured.
Not really.... You'd be old now and pissed cause the album was better than the live show. Trust me.
Really such Freaks never get a chance today
@@Helo1able I dunno, I saw Meat Loaf at a bar/venue in Northampton Mass called Bridges Cafe. While you're absolutely right that the album was better than Loaf live, I wasn't disappointed with the show. On the other subject, about being old now, yeah, kinda pissed off...
Still, I wouldn't trade the music of our day for nearly anything that's come out in the last 3 decades or so. (i'd freely give away Huey Lewis though).
I agree that the CD sounds better but the way he shredded that fucking guitar solo was Way Beyond what the album had
@@danielpepin2665 Not a big Huey Lewis fan? I agree with the majority of your comment, including Lewis, BUT although a lot were one hit wonders, the 80s had some great music! I'm just 32 and do prefer all the "older" stuff!! HUGE Seger fan!!

Paradise by the dashboard lights. I deflowered my 1st girlfriend to that song. In the back of my 1972 Chevy Impala. In a pouring rain storm on a lonely New England dirt road. The entire night was magical listening to Meatloaf on my 8 track player. We made sweet love all night, with 1970's songs playing on the mix track tape. Oh God the good times.
I hope you and Jim are shooting with the stars and flying with the angels.
I'll miss you Meat. You have been my favorite since I was 9 years old, 26 years ago. When I first heard "I'd do anything for love", it was love at first listen.
Meat Loaf had three huge hit singles in the Netherlands, but he is mostly remembered by his first one: Paradise by the dashboard light. The song was a number one hit in the Netherlands in the winter of 1978-79. I was 12 years old them. I still remember that our whole school class sang the song spontaneously on our way to the sports hall (Hengstdal, Nijmegen), where we used to have our gym classes. Nobody really knew the words (not to mention the meaning) then, but that didn’t matter. Later I learned that it was in fact Ellen Foley who did the female part of this duet, so I thought that the girl we saw on “Top Pop”, Karla de Vito, was merely a lip synching stand in. After seeing the Rock Palast concert now I have to say: hats off to her, she has a strong voice and she certainly stole the show on this concert! My six guilders pocket money a week would have been sufficient to buy the single in 1978 (or a month of savings to buy the longplay) but I also had other expenses… So the album Bat out of hall I eventually bought much later, second hand, at a lesser price. Rock Palast Concert (or especially Rock Palast Nights) emitted by German WDR television were the cream of the crop, if you were in to live performances of popular rock acts in the 1970-80s. Living close to the German border, we were lucky to receive German television on our antenna when I was a kid and I still remember the great concerts by the Who, Kid Creole, Van Morrison, Grateful Dead, ZZ top. Missed Meatloaf in 1978 though. Great to have the occasion to see and hear his concert here after all those years!
Jacques, she had to lip synch in the video because the recording had already been made using Ellen Foley's voice. Also, music videos were still in their infancy at the time. No MTV yet.
The World lost a true performing legend, and great human being.
RIP Meat Loaf. Thank you for the honor of being a fan of your craft.
Dein Werk wird in die Musikgeschichte eingehen. Thank you, thank you MEAT LOAF
