Best disc reviews on UA-cam! Love this series
💜
I don’t think underrated is the right word, but your channel is low key one of the very best for disc golf amateur content and doesn’t have nearly the amount of views/subscriptions it deserves. Just realized I wasn’t subscribed so made a point to subscribe and go through and like a bunch of your videos rq bc I’ve been watching your content passively for months if not years. Anyway brother, love the channel, you’re great.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this comment. I think its way too easy on UA-cam to have this ever-moving goal post, there's always more views, but is that what matters? Did I quit my job to do Six Sided Discs full time to chase more views or did I do it because I love what I do? This comment is just fuel for my fire to keep making content, enjoy doing it, and people out there, no matter how many, will enjoy it too. Cheers!
surely waiting for part2 because explorer is one of my go to discs.
I would love to see a comparison of the 7 5 -2 1. It’s another staple in the bag for the average arm player. Leopard 3, maverick, Sting type disc.
I’d say explorers are the closest to tee birds. I used to bag 4 at the same time. 2 Ricky 2-time glow, an Opto glimmer, and a gold line. The glow ones are dead straight to slightly turning, the gold line is straight to stable, and the Opto glimmer is pretty beefy. With the number of plastic blends and runs you can get just about any flight you want. Also latitude just has better quality control than innova.
Idk. I think I'd have to give that spot to the rival from legacy
IMO the Explorer seems a bit less stable
My opto explorer is pretty stable
Simon Lizotte put out a video today talking about mold inconsistencies between runs even in the same plastic and between colors even in the same run of disc. The science of plastics and injection molding is just prone to produce slight inconsistencies. That said, flight numbers are good for a general gage on the disc. Even after the manufacturing process, you have other factors to consider.
can you tell me how to find that video? I want to see it
@@alexheltemesgo-to Simons channel, look for a video he released 5 months ago. The title talks about injection molding or something. It's pretty easy to see which one it is (in case you never found it). Cheers bud.
Awesome video!
I think the evader compares better to the eagle than to the teebird. The explorer is the better trilogy disc for the slot.
Just bought an MVP Volt (8 / 5 / -0.5 / 2), and was a bit dissapointed it wasn't included in the video. Was hoping to be able to compare it to my champion teebird and opto explore (which wasn't included in the video either)
I do realise that you guys can't realisticly throw every variant out there though, but would have been neat
I find my volt to be slightly less stable than my Teebirds. But the flat profile makes it more workable into my forehand drives. I honestly much prefer the hand feel of the Volt and my Proton volt is plenty stable.
It legitimately brightens my day when you post a video. Always great stuff Mr. Greg! Been a big fan for a while. Hope i can shake your hand one day
Please do!
Thanks for another great video! I throw a beat in DX TeeBird that is like a faster mako3. very straight. was rather disappointed when I bought a new champion TeeBird only to discover how overstable it is.
My favorite is the Anthony Barella Teebird3, Champion Color Glow plastic. Great for flicks
Thank you for sharing the Elevation you are at! This is very helpful to compare the flights to what they would be at my elevation!
I really appreciate this series. Thanks for all the work you put into these.
What I’ve gathered from the Innova discs that have the 3 is the tend to be a bit flatter and not as much domeyness
Call me crazy, my teebird slot is a Vulture. I love the hand feel, I get reliable overstability, and I only have to throw it 80% power to get the teebird distance.
I bought a Champion Tee-bird a few months after I started playing. I’m at a year+ now, and I do use the disc, but the video showed me some things about how to use it better. These FNDM videos are great! Keep up the good work.
My favorite Teebird is the Eagle.
You know what I'd love to see you guys do along the same lines as this series. Get the same disc in the same plastic but with different colors. Even Trilogy has shared that color affects stability.
It has been in my mind to test! We’ll have to give it a try
When you do part2 of this video, I would be really interested to see the TL and TL3 compare. I throw a champ TL3 as my main fairway driver and it is super straight and forgiving at a variety of power levels and release angles. It would be interesting to see your results in some different plastics and side-by-side with their Teebird/Teebird3 brothers.
The Birdie Strike is my favorite ever disc. Also my first ace disc---but, it was my favorite disc even before that.
I bought a max weight proton crave and was delighted it flies like my champion teebird but slightly farther. It is even more torque resistant than my champ teebird so I can rip it on forehand too. What an amazing all around disc
The weights on narrower rimmed discs makes a big difference too. More so than the wide, 12,13,14 speed discs.
This is why Innova is my main go to bag. I got a champion that’s nicely beat in and a newer star tee bird but I’ve picked my star over the champion to put in the bag.
I lost two different Jen Allen Teebirds last year. Before I got around to buying a third, I picked up a 2023 Champ Eagle (Calvin shark teeth) that feels absolutely awesome and is exactly the stability the Teebirds were giving me.
So far I love a broken in DX Teebird (aka the G-Bird) because it holds anhyzer like nobodies business if you can get the RPMs. I’m looking forward to trying a star and champion Teebird.
Man I just realized I need a G-Star Teebird to call it the G-Bird. Thank you for helping me to this revelation of where my money will go in the morning 🤙🏻
I’m new to your channel, and I love this stuff! Thank you! I love the search and experimenting with categories of discs like this video does, and I went through a serious 7502 phase a while ago. I settled on 2 of them. Super fun. Currently in a 4303(ish) phase. Have you guys done that category yet?
Glad you enjoyed it! We're about 11 videos in to our Flight Numbers Don't Matter series.
We took a crack at the 4/3/0/3 category early on and it just didn't work out how I wanted it to, it ended up being a video mostly about the Zone. I think we'll likely revisit it in the future but check out the playlist because we've explored 12/5/-1/3, 9/5/0/2, 9/3/0/4, 5/5/-1/1, 2/3/0/1, and a few others as well.
I prefered instinct from discmania as a teebird but cookie replaced it. I recommend testing it!
Got hold of a used Champ Teebird in what must have been a headwind and it went so straight! Thought it less stable than its numbers until I compared one day with an Explorer, stable Champ Leopard3, C-Line FD side by side and it were surely as stable or more.
I don't like that "boring" shot all that much... its the most stock of stock 280-320' stable. I am using lot of 9-speeds instead, can be pushed far and can be powerd down, nicer handfeel as well. Got a nice range of stability of mids below in speed as well.^^
What an absolute joy of a video! 🤟
@Six Sided Discs Great video. But... you definitely need to put the Latitude 64 Saint Pro in this test. Flight numbers are 8 5 -0.5 2
What I've noticed with innova is that for Star plastic, the flight numbers DO matter. But for any other plastic, not at all. They must be basing their flight numbers off star plastic, which is why I'm trying to get mainly star for my bag so they actually make sense.
That would explain why the flight numbers are so consistent for me with Innova, because I throw Innova-made discs for most of my videos, and in tournaments. The wide majority in my cart are in Star plastic (midrange to distance driver). And I've not experienced the level of variation throwing Star plastic discs. Champ is consistently more stable for the molds I do throw in that plastic. But GStar and DX vary more in my experience. I'm not saying there's no variability in any plastic, but the most consistent for me has been Star plastic discs.
Picking up an s-line FD1 today at my local shop for black friday! Kinda sad not seeing it in the comparisons. Basically the Teebird Discmania always wanted when with Innova.
Glow Teebird is my favorite bcuz it can handle the headwind for me when i need to get about 330ft with a low ceiling hyzer flip
This video is genius! I love the way you did it. Definitely had to like and subscribe after watching this. Great great content, thank you.
Awesome! Thank you!
That was a weird Rival. Both of my Pinnacle Rivals fly close to a normal Champ Teebird, but with better plastic imo
I figured it must have been a weird one
Guy, I love your content! FNDM seriers is my favourite! Great job!
I gravitated toward legacy as a beginner and fell in love with the rival. I think colors might play a big part in stability with pinnacle. My yellow and clear rivals are more straight, where as my green and teal rivals are more overstable.
Also after a few years of playing I have basically switched out most of my old legacy and innova with discmania stuff. Would have loved to see any of the FD1s on this list 😆.
Great video, I absolutely love this series
Howdy Six Sided Discs! I am currently throwing my Teebirds around 280' but I have a nose up problem(among others), and I live at 7000'. I am wondering if you know how far thows teebirds(which you said all discs were about 330-340) would go at 7000'? I know discs are generally much more overstable but I wonder about the difference in distance. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for the informative videos on all the Flight Numbers Don't Matter series!
There is definitely a Teebird out there for me, it’s called the Eagle
As a beginner this series is helpful for choosing discs!
Yeah! Buy a Teebird!
Another great Flight Numbers Don't Matter video! Awesome to see a good showing from Mint discs 7 speed bird disc da Grackle.
I hope the part 2 also covers the Latitude Glory and DM FD1. Especially the Glory is interesting as people seem to find it very OS, but seeing it side by side would give us a better idea of how it compares.
Gotta try the fd1 in s line and horizon (sky walker)! Right on that star teebird/champion teebird border
I find the relative inconsistency from Innova to be fun. My Star Teebirds are fairly consistent, but I have a couple of Star Leopard3's that are a mystery. One is as advertised, the other is the stiffest and most pop-top disc that I own. It flies like the perfect seasoned Teebird.
Love the chart. Great vid!!!!
obviously the strike was best bcuz it was glow! glow adds that touch more of stability.. i can cranks my glow teebird on an anny rip 400ft pretty easy but i prefer to hyzer flip only so i dont..
Like the explorer a lot. Every teebird ive owned has just been beefy. Ive thrown friends teebirds that were great but ive always struggled with them. Like the explorer a lot.
I bought myself a champion teebird3 and its my favorite driver so far
Nice comparison! I Love a good 7-speed. For a part 2 besides the ones you mentioned, also test the 7,4,0,2 Discmania FD1, the 7,5,0,2 Discmania Instinct and The 7,5,0,3 Latitude 64 Glory as well! :)
I found the servo that i got to be less stable than some craves i have too. I throw the exodus for this slot. Occasionally will disc disc down to the kaxe (i treat it as a mid)
162 gram domey Champion Ricky tb3 is my favorite. Same with sidewinder 162g domey stiff champion plastic
Pretty good video. Plus they all need to be the same weight to have a really good comparison 😎
Teebird is too overstable for my liking.
I use Leopard for dead staight shots and Firebird for overstable shots.
In between those I use Prodigy F2, that's right in the middle while not being too overstable.
I feel like the Servo in the video flew much closer to a Star than to a G-Star. Did you try multiple G-Star Teebirds? Because that flight looked great for an understable 7 speed.
I feel like you shoulda left one space between the Star and the GStar. The straighter discs fell between the two I feel.
For part 2 can you include the Discmania Evolution Instinct?
Next time you make a comparison video like this.
Could you list the weight’s of each disc?
Even if it’s just a quick still, of a weight list.
If you're creating a new version, and Viking Discs are still around, include the Barbarian. Then Glory, Saint Pro and ... maybe Eagle (domy, flat, Champ, Star).
If you do a part 2, you should add the idog from kastaplast that just dropped
I have and old 12× or 10× (cant rememeber) champ teebird that ive been using consistently for more than 12 years. Not a 1/4 inch on the edge of that disc that hasnt had lighter flame
Great video! Love this series so much!
most surprising to me is the comparative variation of the teebird3's between different plastics. GStar most stable? Truly wild
I own way too many teebird3s. I would say this result is abnormal. Gstar is usually the flippiest premium plastic for teebird3s. But there are still plenty of flukes out there.
I bought a used Champion TeeBird & ESP Anax several months ago and they both SUPER flippy. Like almost an Eagle & Wraith in disguise. I think that’s when I really realized that flight numbers don’t matter. 😂
I bag the TL3 in Halo. Yall should do the often overlooked 9 speeds
Would love to see more Discmania in these videos.
The dome on that Strike was nice and makes sense that it went over 400'
Dang, was hoping to see a volt here. Oh well great vid as always
Awesome stuff.
Great video but why no Discmania?
Unfortunately we just didn’t have any at the time if filming, we’ll have to do a Part 2 and get a Cookie, Explorer, Instinct, FD1, etc
Yay!! Thank you!
Awseome videos you have but little disapointed that you not having Prodisucus from Finland at all
We haven't had any Prodiscus around for awhile, might have to grab a few, thanks for the mention!
Not that it matters, but Avery Jenkins is only a one-time world champion. His brother-in-law is a three time world champion.
Great video, though! Love the series.
This series is super useful for researching discs. Maybe you could do a comparison of Wraith-like discs. Understable fairways would be good too, I use them a lot in the woods for smooth tunnel shot drives, powered-down flex shots, turnovers etc.
Great video!
That Jomez footage seemed super unnecessary.
Votum is a Grackle is a Votum. Is a Grackle.
Explorer is my favorite TeeBird
I lost my Emerson Keith opto x explorer 3 weeks ago 😢. It was the perfect alternative to the teebird. I finally got to throw a champion teebird today. Someone had put one in my local courses disc library, and I used it for a round. It flew pretty much the same as the explorer, but didn’t feel quite as nice.
@@serenityinsilence ah man, was it the blue/purple chameleon run? I like the Explorer cause it doesn't have the built in domey shoulder; feels better for forehand while still feeling great for backhand
The mint disc grackle is the perfect combination of a teebird and eagle
I think it would be cool to do a video where you start with a disc with significant flashing. Then steadily sand it off little by little and show how the flight changes.
My quite beat in champ tee bird flew a ton like an athena ... So I might be buying an athena next excuse I get, since I'm scared of losing my tee bird, lean on it soo often when I play technical golf.
Star TL by far.
That Strike though..
If only they kept the clash in production. Exactly what you were talking about, a more stable crave that you could rip on and it would always finish for you. If only
Kinda shocked to see you call the Votum and Alpha pretty much the same. Feel and flight have been very different for me. Votum 1.8cm rim vs Alpha's 2cm. Alpha is more OS as well.
Why did you call the exodus a teebird by another name when it’s a totally different mold? It’s literally (like you said) an eagle L so why are you saying it’s just a teebird with another name. It’s literally not.
Is there a part 2?
teebird3 is the best teebird clone. Especially in colorglow.
Absolutely. And there's run-to-run variation, but I find the darker color runs have the mellowest flight.
Love the series and love Avery. But I don't think he has 3 world championship titles.
Ah yea you're right, idk where I got that from...
FYI, that shot is like 480'.. its 550 when you throw inside the OB lines
Clash Cookie in steady is money
where is the Discmania Instinct?? it is afterall 7/5/0/2
They didn't have them in at the time.
no FD1 or Instinct from Discmania but 3 different plastics of DD Evader 😂😂
Why doesn’t discraft make a 14 speed with 6 glide
U missed the vulture by discraft
Same flight numbers as a tee bird
I'm an eagle guy.
Lauri Lehtinen explorers are MONEY
The thing that these videos don't address (and can't really address, honestly) is the inner run disc variations. I've had champ tee birds that hook like destroyers and champ tee birds that fly straight and some that flip so hard they are hard to control.
Dunno what can be done with that beyond just personal experimentation. The 3rd & 4th disc numbers are all just a vague guideline.
Impossible drinking game challenge: take a shot when he says teebird.
That sounds dangerous lol
No FD1/Instinct?!
the rival
Did I used a proton servo little more beef a little more stable
