Six Sided Discs should do a Six Speed Disc Comparison. It's one of those odd speeds for most manufacturers. Whatever you decide to do, just keep this content coming.
Hurt a bit not seeing the Uplink. Lile the other MVP discs, it's really good at holding the turn and not burning out. For me the Detour flips up to flat, then holds straight for a long time. The Uplink thrown in the same manner will flip up and hold the light turn. Then the Paradox is one I throw on even more hyzer (not a crazy amount, just more) and it flips up, turns harder, and holds it. I really have tried to move away from bagging so much MVP but their mids are fantastic. The icing on top is the Hex, Detour, Uplink, and Paradox all feel almost the exact same in your hand. So you get use to the shape throughout the round and don't even really feel like your changing discs. Your jist changing the shot shape without really changing your release.
So I have a gyrapalooza Detour and love that thing for a slight turn it gets on and holds but was always nervous to throw it near water so I picked up a stock run when it came out and found the stock run is quite a bit less flippy. It just doesn’t hold its turn nearly as well. Still a good throwing disc but yeah it doesn’t replace the gyrapalooza detours slot.
List of Flippiest Mids I know of in order of flippy: Pearl, Shu, Lone Wolf, Paradox. Rounding off the top-5 is the guy who only throws 1 Buzzz and it's hit 1000s of trees over the years.
Innova's Wolf is pretty silly in how understable it is as well. I have a Shark that someone's dog chewed on and it will still normally fly like a beat in shark but if there is a wind going right, it goes right and never returns. Same w/an old DX Eagle I have. I haven't played in awhile but have picked up a lot of new thinsg to compare so I'm going to be doing a lto of shoot outs as I get back into the swing. Looking forward to it.
Are you basing the performance off one throw, or the average over 10-15-20 throws? A lot of variation in release angles for the determination to be made off one toss.
Ha! I love westside numbers. Im still throwing a 0 3 stag. Ive always loved tursas. Been throwing it a lot lately. I have a warship and bard ace. Now I need tursas ace. Sooo touchy even for a little guy like me. I can get some super nice straight lines, but any power and its flipping.
I don’t have a FH beyond 150f so I’m bagging Detour, Remix Creature and Paradox. Detour pushes long with a nice late turn and slight fade at the end. Use to go long slightly right. Creature turns right but fights out of it. Use for flex lines and turns where I need to control landing spot. Paradox in proton soft turns a lot but controllable. Use for turn and then glide faaaaar after the turn. High line on dogleg right is amazing.
I bag two of the discs tested. I use the Rollo for that purpose rollers. I also bag the Paradox for holes that I need a disc to go right . RHBH this has always been a struggle until the Paradox. There are not many who throw RHFH in MA60+ from the tee.
Great video. My go to is the Discraft Archer (5 4 -4 1). Plays a little faster then 5 and a little less turn then -4. Reliable turn though and just fades out preventing the cut roll. Was hoping to see it in the line up.
I bought some extra discs from amazon for a little family get together (cheapest I could find, not knowing what i was getting). I was really surprised with how under stable the Divergent set was. I actually really enjoying throwing a couple of the discs in that pack. Lawin driver UV Max Grip was is great; Leviathan Incognito is also super good for me as a fairway and approach. I don't think I could have been more surprised, and the utility of under stable discs is definitely there. They have a pretty solid place in my bag for the time being.
Great video!!❤ For my woods home courses. I always have at least 2 understable Mids. I tried the Detour for a bit, but for my FH, the Uplink is a better choice. Next to that is the Streamline Echo. Both are Neutron plastic. I recently got a C-Line MD1 added to the mix. I've always leaned on flippy discs in the woods, both mids and drivers.
I am so looking forward to the work Simone Lizotte is doing with the throwing machine, that he has people working on. (video on his UA-cam). It is going to really help classifying the actual characteristics of discs!
Absolutely love this disc for the “get out of jail” shots and even glidey putts. Mine has been in the bag for almost 4 years, and it’s super flippy but manageable still.
Here is my take on flippy midrange, you only need one in tight wooded courses. Here in Colorado it is one big ol hyser fest. If you need something to go right, just chop a firebird or a zone at it. Understable midranges are for extremely skilled players with touch or no forehand to speak of. I love my meteor, but i only bag it in the woods. But i love using the meteor and the dune for teaching new players.
The flippiest mid in my bag is a prodigy M4. Thrown flat it gets lots of mid flight turn, but can swing back at the very end. If I need it to hold an anhyzer angle it can do that too. It’s just about the perfect mid for me. As long as it’s not a windy day, it’s the mid I’m reaching for every time.
I throw almost exclusively rhbh. I throw the khonsu and the fuse a ton. They both work for big anyhyzer bomber lines with a reliable cut roll that helps if you come up short or even deep right.
I bag 175g stock Luna for hyzer flip to turnover. 182g older esp meteor for hyzer flip to dead straight. 175g fission reactor for hyzer flip up to stable finish. Glow envy for flat Dead straight and my favorite disc a 4yo proton pyro for stable finish with skip. This is only backhand. Pyro and toro are my 4handers which is my go-to
That Discraft Stratus surprised me with its flight! Discs with late, low speed instability are so rare for under stable discs. It reminded me a lot of an MVP Relay once you get it moderately seasons. They travel straight for 60% of their flight, then the turn kicks in to finish to the ground. It is easy to bag that slot with an under stable enough disc that you can throw hyzer flip to turn, so they aren't vital, but they are still really cool and potentially really useful for players who prefer to throw discs flat. In my US mid slot, I personally prefer to play with the angles of the Mint Lobster.
A Discraft sponsored player now rep since the late 90s told me the Stratus would never mold up right in Z or ESP plastic and is why they were discontinued. In the old baseline or X plastic they fly like the numbers and were used as roller disc by a lot of players back then.
I have one of the old X Stratus' and it's definitely flippy but I would still say the numbers oversell it a bit. You need to throw it quite hard for it to be REALLY flippy. I mostly use it for long soft turnovers or tricky woods shots where I don't have space for a full power swing. Love my Stratus, I've had it since 2016. I want to try the new ESP ledgestone version I'm just poor and it's $20. Gotta talk myself into it for a while 😂 Edit: the new ones are Z swirl not esp. They look so similar in pictures.
For my old man, noodle arm (MA50), 5-speeds are my go-to. My primary discs are the LSD Bearkat and Lone Wolf. I get the Lone Wolf 250-280 on a hyzer flip. Bearkat is a straight flyer.
You did 3 and 4 speeds that flew like mids. What about 6 speeds that are like mids? I love my Discraft Glide, but I need a replacement since Ledgestone stopped printing it!
A mid I bought that was super disappointing was the Trust. At 5 5 0 2 i thought it would be perfect for a slightly stable midrange. Got out to course and brand new this mid flipped very hard on my with slight hyzer. Flys very similar to my ESP Buzz
Recently Latitude 64 did an ace run contest using the special Jonathan Fastborg fried egg “I’m a fuse!” Fuse. I got a couple of these and boy were they flippy. I figure they were a production oops and a clever way to clear them out was utilized. I think they were in gold plastic. One of them is now the flippy mid in my bag. Not really a fuse if push comes to shove, but it does the job.
Dang!, I literally checked your channel yesterday hoping you had this very video cause I’m looking for a new flippy mid, and today there it is! Awesome. Love the way you break these down like this.
wow - random. I was the other day finding out I was missing a flippy midrange - and the last couple of days having a hard time finding out what to choose. This video came out just perfect!
I found a Lone Wolf (no name nor phone number on it) a while back ... I keep it in my bag for short, tight gaps where I need about 150 - 200 ft ... I find I can do a gentle, steep-angled hyzer-flip and get a relatively straight flight out of it.
Looking forward to trying out a Detour and comparing it to a Gateway Mystic (my primary understable midrange). That would have been neat to see in the video.
(RHBH) I am not really using the understable mids for turnovers yet, I am using them to toss effortless on a comfortable hyzer to get far straight to where I aim. But I am getting there, the Archer and Stig are holding up not throlling nicely finishing to the right but landing flat. :D (Also the Stig goes forever on a hyzer flip to turn and a finishing little fade...)
Love the Yikun Kang man. That disc is so decent and fun to play with. The Gui though I think is probably Yikun's best disc overall having tried like 6-7 molds. As a putter it flies like a Wizard, but as a thrower/approach man its just money.
I love the lone wolf. that is my woods carving machine when I need to flip to flat and then turn over. I also bag the bb6, for slightly less flippy shots in the woods.
No uplink or archer eh? I threw the archer when my forehand wasn't feeling great but boy it felt terrible in hand. So the Uplink has been my go to for flippy mids, and even replaced my flippy putter. Discraft makes a terrible flippy midrange (as a guy that throws almost all discraft)
Clash Peach is honestly the best understable mid out there and should have been in this review! Missed out on that one, it holds a great turnover line without burning completely over, especially in the more stable Sunny plastic.
Just started watch and I had to comment already. Almost a newbie and got a Meteor right after my 3 starter discs. I was so confused for so long as the numbers are so wrong. I didn’t know what to do or buy for quite some time until I figured it was just a fluke. It’s my “perfectly straight” disc now! Ha!
We actually tested this in a previous video and found that PLH is not always accurate in predicting stability from one disc to another, especially across different plastics.
Even theres no specific Class i would like to see a Comparison of the most used Roller Discs on the Market to See wich one goes furthest and which one is most reliable.
The Comet has been uselessly under stable for me. I can’t throw it without it turning into a roller unless I throw it on a wild hyzer angle. The Discraft Impact and the Buzzz SS are my go-to understable mids.
Man alive! How do y'all throw flippy mids?! Even a neutral mid is a disaster for me. Need overstable or its a roller at best. Guess I can't control my armspeed well?
You probably needs to fix your form, armspeed isnt the issue. If a mid rolls, its probably because of a bad release causing the disc to wobble and get more understable.
It is just staggering seeing the amount of brands, models & plastics available these days. I don't know how any players keep track. It was so simple when it was Innova or Discraft and the crazies would throw Gateway :D
I feel that glide is as important as turn for a disc to be understable. If a disc have 6-7 glide you know it’s going to be understable even if it has 0 or -1 turn.
im one of the dudes that dont bag a understable mid at all, with a pretty good forehand i didnt feel like i need that shot, but my local course is a super wide open 9 hole and we just got a new course with some wooded fairways so i got a bendy james Detour waiting for me in my mailbox right meow
i absolutely need you to do this for 0 1 to 0 3 midranges, i swear these "stable" midranges lie to me, and i haven't been able to find one that i feel does the "0 X" thing
Six Sided Discs should do a Six Speed Disc Comparison. It's one of those odd speeds for most manufacturers. Whatever you decide to do, just keep this content coming.
MVP only has 6.5. Lol
But actually faster that a 6, so I'll say that's accurate.
6 speeds are a myth, YE RUBE!!!
I love the Uplink!
The Uplink is money.
Cannot believe the uplink wasn’t in here, that disc just does what it’s supposed to do. A great disc!!
Uplink SCHMUPLINK, YE RUBE!!!
Hurt a bit not seeing the Uplink. Lile the other MVP discs, it's really good at holding the turn and not burning out. For me the Detour flips up to flat, then holds straight for a long time. How did the more stable flight Sol end up to the right of the more understable flight Svea in the graohic?
List of Flippiest Mids I know of in order of flippy: Pearl, Shu, Lone Wolf, Paradox. Rounding off the top-5 is the guy who only throws 1 Buzzz and it's hit 1000s of trees over the years.

rollo
Rollo,Tremor,pearl,leopard and Wombat
Still searching for good mids that turn over
I love this type of content, which is super informative and useful when looking for the right disc. Flight numbers need to get better
Though different runs fly differently from each other. Also factor weight. I've only ever seen one disc used for each plastic type in these videos.
Are you basing the performance off one throw, or the average over 10-15-20 throws? A lot of variation in release angles for the determination to be made off one toss.

Organized by stability, obviously, on my rack of mids:
Paradox
Thanks for taking the time to do these videos. They are really interesting and helpful.
Gateway Mystic is far and away my favorite slightly understable mid
Ooh, guessing Paradox or Rollo from the hype (and having thrown a Paradox).
Thank you for all the video's, truly great help in understanding flights. Right now understable mid is the wombat 3 star plastic.
I bag two of the discs tested. I use the Rollo for that purpose rollers. I also bag the Paradox for holes that I need a disc to go right . RHBH this has always been a struggle until the Paradox. There are not many who throw RHFH in MA60+ from the tee.
Would love to have seen the Piwakawaka get some love here.
I had a Tursas but just didn't love it and have switched to an uplink which I really like.
I bag the Innova Panther in Champion plastic. It's just flippy enough and stable enough to shape shots, with good glide. Test Glide numbers!!!
Mint discs lobster 5,5,-3,1 is a fun one. The 1 fade stops the discs from burning over. Or the mana from thought space is another good one.
Great video. My go to is the Discraft Archer (5 4 -4 1). Plays a little faster then 5 and a little less turn then -4. Reliable turn though and just fades out preventing the cut roll. Was hoping to see it in the line up.

Just picked some of these up, What a cool way to engage with your community. The late turn on the stratus is something ive been looking for!
I am so looking forward to the work Simone Lizotte is doing with the throwing machine, that he has people working on. (video on his UA-cam).
It is going to really help classifying the actual characteristics of discs!
RPM Piwakawaka.

Just got a Scavenger the same color & plastic not 2 weeks ago & mine flies exactly the same flat, but put it on a lil annie & it turns just fine.
For understable midrange right now I have mostly been throwing a TSA Mana and Remix Creature which are fairly similar, also have a Detour on the way.

Discraft archer , love it !
How many throws do you guys do, to determine the showed flight path of a given disk?
Got a stock and Bendy James Detour recently. Bendy James went into the bag, pulling out my somewhat seasoned Z Buzzz SS.
I might need to look into the Detour. That pushing turn to the right was very pretty. Nice toss Caleb.
That Discraft Stratus surprised me with its flight! Discs with late, low speed instability are so rare for under stable discs. It reminded me a lot of an MVP Relay once you get it moderately seasons. Got a detour last week and instantly in the bag and one of my go to discs already. Best disc of the year for me.
What about the Discraft Comet?
The Comet will forever be my understable mid. I use a Michael Johansen Tour Series Metallic Z from 2021 for this slot (-3ish turn).
Same here! Glides for days and great for slow annies both bh and fh. MJ made me do it!
Only disc I wish was on this video too was the TSA Mana!
Awesome disc!
Me, too. It is my straight-to-understable, just a bit more stable than the Svea. Love the Mana.
You can do those backhand shapes if you learn your angles and can hyzer flip a forehand 300ft. Not a small ask though
DX Leopard. It’s understable, but it doesn’t go as far right as I need at times. I might try the Rollo (I also need a roller disc).
Is there a midrange between the Buzzz SS and the detour? in terms of similar distance but less understable than the detour
Always the best videos Greg!
The kang reminds me of a prodigy PA-5. Just a glidey understable putter.
Looking forward to trying out a Detour and comparing it to a Gateway Mystic (my primary understable midrange). That would have been neat to see in the video.

My Tursas is my farthest flying mid, it's older and marked 5, 5, -3, 1. They mistakenly changed the flight numbers.....
I love the lone wolf. that is my woods carving machine when I need to flip to flat and then turn over. I also bag the bb6, for slightly less flippy shots in the woods.
I’ve found use for the lone wolf on a water carry hole at my local, and it fits that one shot perfectly… but nothing else 😂. I love that disc.
Love this video, with you would have tested the Innova star or halo star Stingray. Great disc.
Best disc golf channel out there
Bought a special edition Detour as a gift this week. Now I might have to go buy one for myself.
Ha!
I use the archer as my us mid. Mine is a -1 0 flight for me
Gotta try the dynamic discs patrol.
Pearl and uplink are great and were missed from this video
What helps me is looking at the parting line heights of discs. The lower the PLH, the more understable it is.
We actually tested this in a previous video and found that PLH is not always accurate in predicting stability from one disc to another, especially across different plastics.
Great video! Everyone needs to bag a Detour!
Man discraft sol and commet have a real place in this conversation
The tursas numbers used to be a -3 turn
Not sure why they changed it.
Vertex or Paradox are the most flippy midrange I have ever thrown. Throw on Hyzer, and it flips to anhyzer.
I was hoping to see Remix Discs Creature (Speed 5 | Glide 5 | Turn -3 | Fade 1)
is it because you guys don't carry it?
It is the same as the lobster and peace train, just "factory seconds/overrun" from mvp production.
What kind of distance is Caleb getting here with these shot shapes?
The discraft impact?
@@lucasnoma1896 sounds right. There's too much torque on my backhand fo sho
It's all part of the plan to get players to buy more discs when you find out the one you just bought doesn't fly the way it is supposed to!
My meteor flips up and goes to the right just fine
Yeah they start out straight, but after a couple weeks they’re an understable panning dream
Really appreciate y'all evolving the production on these videos. This one was much more watchable than "watch us throw 10 discs." Great work.
Nice backhanded compliment
The Rollo is more fairway driver than mid-range I think. It has 1.5 cm rim which is the widest on this list I'd imagine. Fun disc.
Divergent discs Alpas! Very flippy, good roller like a tire lol
When he throws the discs, are you using a radar to ensure he is throwing them the same speed?
Ok but why are they making discs in impossible to find colors? That is incredibly stupid
my putting putter is a brown warden because i’m afraid to throw it any further than within the circle. why would anyone make a brown disc?
Stupid from who’s perspective? The manufacturer doesn’t mind you loosing it and buying another.
I love this series
140g Dx shark ... Or z commet max weight ... Or anhyzer beat in mako3 those are from most to least flippy.
The L64 Pearl is also really understable.
How about the Mint Discs Lobster?
It's the same mild and plastic as the jester one.
throw neutralish 11+speeds. for me at elevation it's a thrasher. But there may be better and I don't know it.
That Leviathan was wild 🤣
No uplink?
It is just staggering seeing the amount of brands, models & plastics available these days. I don't know how any players keep track.
It was so simple when it was Innova or Discraft and the crazies would throw Gateway :D
Would love to see the TSA Mana added to this segment
Detour is close enough, it's less stable though cause no gyro
I feel that glide is as important as turn for a disc to be understable. If a disc have 6-7 glide you know it’s going to be understable even if it has 0 or -1 turn.
No Discraft Comet?
im one of the dudes that dont bag a understable mid at all, with a pretty good forehand i didnt feel like i need that shot, but my local course is a super wide open 9 hole and we just got a new course with some wooded fairways so i got a bendy james Detour waiting for me in my mailbox right meow
DGA Tremor in my experience
I would've liked to have seen Gateways Mystic, TSA's Mana and the Comet
i absolutely need you to do this for 0 1 to 0 3 midranges, i swear these "stable" midranges lie to me, and i haven't been able to find one that i feel does the "0 X" thing
Check out or two straight midrange and 1 OS mid videos in this series, we cover quite a few that you’re referring to!
The Tursas is one of the longest mids made. Something went wrong with your testing.
