As someone who lived in Thailand, Malaysia and Philippines since 2003, and who then returned to UK, I couldn't agree more with this video. I just miss those evenings eating in a roadside restaurant with friends and talking until the early hours. When I returned to UK I did a tour of the local gyms and came back very depressed. They were all filthy and had poor equipment compared to what I was used to in Philippines. And don't get me started on UK swimming pools. The pool and gym in my condo block were better than *anything* in UK, and they were included in the condo at no extra charge! Really now getting quite desperate to get out of UK again, but plans are afoot! :)
I said the same thing about the gyms. Quite depressing isn’t it. I loved being outside at 11pm on a Monday in Thailand eating and drinking with friends. I’d be in bed asleep by 10pm in the U.K.
Unless your have a work permit and a job, can fork out over 20k quid for a 5 year elite visa, or over 50, you cannot easily just move to Thailand permanently. You can get a one year Ed visa for claiming you are studying Thai or Muay Thai. Great video Damian. Very well said. Every reason you gave struck a chord with me. Seen it coming for a long time, but it's still sad to see what's become of Britain. The writing's on the wall at this stage, the next 10, 20 & 30 years are incredibly bleak. I work in software and agreed with my employer on long distance remote work. One way flight is now booked to Thailand for the end of January. I'll work UK hours (15:00 - 22:00 Thai Time) and will work on my passion projects and getting my own online business off the ground during the day before work starts. I'll have time to explore the country, hit the gym and see more of South East Asia.

Have to agree. Never been to Thailand but seriously want to go. Saying that, I'm born and bred British and been living outside of UK for over 25 years now. Every time I go back it only seems to get worse and worse, and my very elderly Parents have had massive problems with NHS treatment. It is a broken place. I hate bashing on UK because I once loved it dearly back in the 70's and 80's, but sadly I can^t ever see myself moving back. @@mrdamianking 100%. I've known plenty of UK expats and they all say exactly the same as you and I, almost word for word. None of them enjoy going back to UK anymore, and most dread it and wouldn't ever go back at all if it wasn't for family. I know I wouldn't. The only thing anyone seems to look forward to, is going to their local Fish and Chip shop or their favourite Indian restaurant for a good curry. Aside from that ... nothing. Prices are now so high that it isn't even worth shopping and filling a suitcase to bring back like I used to do. I've known tons of guys and girls who went off years ago to Japan, Dubai, Singapore, Switzerland, all over. Not one of them has any desire to return to UK and shudder at the thought of it. Including me. The people who live in denial likely never lived elsewhere for any length of time. If they did, they'd also see it as clear as we do.
It is always going to get the haters who are too scared to step out of their comfort zone and actually live their lives. I’ve not met anyone who regrets leaving the U.K.; it’s cold, wet, expensive and negative. I always say, live life, don’t just exist. Thanks for your input, buddy 👍🏻
I'm 12 years out the country, and I would never move back on a permanent basis. I go to party and catch up with friends once or twice a year and that's good for me
Im gonna give Thai life a test drive for 3 months it sure looks like heaven on earth. The people and temples look amazing. I think I will like Chiang Mai best. I would probably already be moving there if I didnt still have family. I might have to buy a Condo though.
You’ll love it Patrick. Chiang Mai is a beautiful place I was there for a few months the last year. National parks are on another level. Best of luck 👍🏻
Well said sir !!!!! The money that is flowing into Thailand (the area around T21in Pattaya for example) is front running a massive upgrade in lifestyle and standard of living in Thailand and the Far East !!
Drop by your neighbour Malaysia some day. No doubt we're also considered 3rd world country by many but main city like Kuala Lumpur, it's a hotbed of culture.
You're spot on mate. I live in South Yorkshire and the weather's foul but the worst thing is the sad decline of our once great country. Run into the ground by the political dogsbodys and woke lunatics, im in my mid seventies and too old to move unfortunately 👍
I totally agree, John. If you can’t move out here, why not visit Pattaya for a holiday? Plenty of blokes your age here are having the time of their lives 😉
@@mrdamianking that is the worst place to visit in Thailand IMO, it is Blackpool with women and nice weather. Seeing some fat westerner with a bored pretty girl in a seedy bar is not something for the faint hearted. The place to go would be Koh Mak or Koh Chang, far better scenery and beaches and nice and quiet.
@stephenobrien5909 for sure Pattaya has a bad reputation and rightly so. But I don’t live or socialise in the City itself. I live next to a gold course outside the City centre. 500 metres from the best Gym in Thailand and 1/2 mile from my MMA gym. I’m not interested in living on one of the islands. (Done that). Im here for business and training only. I split my time between Pattaya and Bangkok so it works for me
Spot on there mate. As a Brit; we might live here but we will forever be a guest of the Thai people. Anyone one coming here will do well to remember this. Self respect is paramount if you wish to get the best from Thailand. 🙏🏼
As it should be, mate. Unfortunately, in the U.K., unwanted guests fail to show any respect. Thailand and its people have a strong identity that they’re proud of. As a guest in their country, I’ll always show my respect. It’s a shame not everyone does the same.
Advice please. English man here. Escaped 2020. You shoukd have more subs. Never been to thailand . Philipines 3 x this years. Thinking of going back to england but maybe i should try asia again. Got no job but do have £630k in bank. 42. Single. What would you fo if me?
@Goodman849 sounds like a great position to be in. You have money, which equals freedom. Personally, I’d check out Thailand for sure. I much prefer it to the Philippines, but that’s my personal preference. I wouldn’t go back to the UK if you paid me. Do you have plans to go back to work? My goal in 2019 was to take my business entirely online, allowing me to work remotely.
@@mrdamianking gone are the days where I earn 15k a month like you. However my current plan was to buy an investment property 3k a month that could be managed from the phone/email remotely like your online business. And of course live in asia somewhere. As a man of simple pleasures I realise I'm happy on a small income when I've been living in the high tech jail that is the Netherlands last 1.5 years or uk. It seems asia is where future growth and happiness is. The western demographics looks bad as do the women imho. Like you say taxes and crime are concerning as is the legal climate and woke culture / social scene depressing. I just hope Thai people are polite. That's one of my core values now at 40+ years old. So I though would try Thailand on the way back to the Philippines. Thanks for your advice.
We agree on so many things. If you ever make to Thailand I’d love to have a coffee. So much of what you said about woke society and politics is bang on the money. As long as you get out of the obvious tourist traps the Thai’s are really nice people. The food in my opinion is the best in the world. Good luck with your adventure
Great video. My British White Parents emigrated to Canada in the 50's penniless and managed to both have reasonably affluent lives despite a divorce. The Canadian Health Care System is failing just like the NHS. Millions with no doctor, open drug use on streets, crime rampant, homeless everywhere, uncontrolled immigration they think might be 2 million who overstay on visitor and student visas. They have had to tell foreign students overwhelming food banks that it is not free food but food for the needy. They don't care about Canadian Society. Jobs and apartments are impossible to find. My sister works for border services at the airport and says immigrants are throwing their passports in the garbage before seeing an agent to claim refugee status and demand over and over "where cheque?". Apparently they get $3000 and put up in a hotel. We don't have any idea who these people are and if they are criminals are not. This is not a country I want to live in. I always thought I might get my British Passport back through my parents but your video convinced me that even the towns in UK are not safe. Bradford I heard about my relatives are there and York, Leeds, Bridlington, London and scattered everywhere. I too want good weather, nice people, good food, medical preventive care, cheaper cost of living. You are too right about woke mentality. Here we have Drag Queens leading storytimes at public libraries regularly. The Karen librarians are calling the police for trespassing on anyone if they dare to say even in a quiet way we don't agree with this, you will be charged. The protests now are regular by Muslims and Christians who are rightly offended by this behavior. Sexualizing of children seems to be fair game. This is not a democracy anymore here. They are about to pass a Govenment Bill called MAID where they will actually encourage and medically facilitate mentally ill people to kill themselves. So instead of helping we will just euthanize them. Government employees working with Veterans about their Benefits have already told the Veterans that maybe they should just kill themselves with medically assisted suicide to solve their problems. Canada is sick to the core. This is a third world society now with fentanyl zombies walking around. We are encouraged to carry free Naproxen Kits as citizens are supposed to deal with the results of rampant drug use everywhere. Police seem unable to stop the drug economy. I want out. I didn't sign up for this. Thanks showing that there can be better places in the world.
You touch upon some very valid points. The world has gone crazy. Unfortunately, there are so many people with their heads in the sand, thinking it won’t happen to them. The next few years will be interesting
Having been to Thailand many times, I can tell you this perspective is from someone with means. Most Thais do not have great health care and live in poverty. I have family there who live like Kings but they're ex Pat's. That said, it's a great place to live.

India will always have a place in my heart. I’ve lived there myself, travelled extensively and in 2019, I trekked from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. But my BIGGEST issue is the trash/garbage. It ruins India for me. The people I hold so dear to my heart have no respect for their own country. It saddens me, and I hope it changes because it’s a truly magical country
I agree 💯! Believe me it bothers us more than you as we live here. It will take 20 years of educating and understanding for the people living here to clean up their act. Sadly we wait for that day! I feel so bad when I see spotless streets in Britain in the smallest of towns. We used to live in Sussex, it’s a paradise😍
I think you got it all right but U.K. is not overpopulated and Thailand has loads of illegals. There’s bad things as well, but I think the good outweighs the bad. You will get seriously cancelled fast in Thailand if you say bad things about the wrong people.
I recon me and my wife are very lucky, we have lived in Thailand for 4/5 months per year since 1993 and returning to my beloved Yorkshire countryside in April. I am 72 years young and me and my wife have had an amazing life,we just feel upset of how what’s happening to the U.K. and the future of are young people. Writing this at the side of the pool in Khao Lak.
As long as you have money, what the hell will you do over in Thailand if you have no savings and when you get old, then what? back to Ol Blightly for DSS
Now, Noah, that’s not exactly what I said, was it? I said my issue was with “unregulated” immigration. The type that enters the country illegally ends up in the system, costing the taxpayer money. The fact that there has been no process to access their history and legal standing. Ensuring we aren’t letting known criminals enter the country to commit crimes. And you’re comparing that to me living in Thailand. Really?
No, I’m not. Far from it. What I paid for my long-time visa far outweighs what I might cost the Thai taxpayer. I do nothing but spend in the Thai economy. I’m not in a $500 condo, travelling on the Bhat bus. You know nothing about me or my business dealings.
@@mrdamianking Indeed, I know nothing about you or your business dealings. What I do know, is that you state "I'm making really good money online (13:19)" and of your own admission, you are not paying taxes. It does not matter what category of long term visa you have or how much you paid for it - if you are going to work here, which you are, you need to pay taxes. Thailand taxpayers have paid for the roads you travel on and the education of the network engineer who works for the Internet Service Provider that gets you the signal to allow you to make money online. If you are truly making really good money online while basing yourself in the kingdom. then please do the right thing. Get a work permit and pay your taxes.
@noahshep in what world do you live in, Noah? Why the hell would I pay tax when I’m not required to? I’m not liable to pay tax in Thailand, as advised by my “Thai” lawyer. Because my money is not made in Thailand. You see, Noah, smart people are smart with how they structure their financial affairs. I don’t avoid tax, far from it. I ensure I pay the “right” amount of tax where required. Get with the times it’s 2023. I’m assuming you’ve been a yes-man all your life. Employee mindset: pay your taxes like a good boy, and wear a face mask when told to. Retired to Thailand on a small pension? Obviously, with too much time on your hands. Let me guess…you live in Pattaya, right?
The reasons why I am leaving UK: 1. Living conditions are very high 2. Taxes are very high like gone upto by 40% 3. The amount of taxes that we pay are being contributed to (people coming in boats, unemployed people, foreign aid) 4. Crime rate 82% (if we report any crime, the police officers don't do anything) 5. Open borders 6. Lack of job opportunities
Great video and I agree with 100% with all of this. England is finished. I need to stay here for another year before I can find freedom. Hopefully sooner! This country is falling apart, crime, politics etc. NHS is going to eventually fall. Too many new arrivals abuse it. I waited months for an operation and then they could not do it, so I paid for it private. Private is the way to go. But the NHS is not FREE for mugs like me who have no choice but to pay into it for karen and her 6 kids with all different dads to then continue with the waste etc etc etc. I am also forced to pay council tax which is insane. It appears me working hard, not commiting crime, paying tax and been law abiding has been a waste of time. Anway! I will be more positive. Buddy, you are 100% correct and you are living life on your terms and for the better of yourself and others. I will most certainly join you soon. :-)
I agree. Why are we paying for the NHS but unable to use it? And the irony is that it’s the people that are NOT contributing that use it and put the strain on the NHS. When I was in London about 7-8 years ago, my next-door neighbour got her house all paid for whilst I was spending a fortune on rent. Single mother of 4 who was on benefits was always on holiday, always in the pub and always had new clothes on. And there was me struggling to pay rent at the time because all my money was going on starting a new business. It makes you wonder if it’s all worth it.

I go to party and catch up with friends once or twice a year and that's good for me
This is 100% on point. The weather, the people and the culture. As for the food its fresh, cheap amd has so much variety.
It’s a great place to live, for sure
Well said Damian, new Sub here you are on your second reason and i could not agree more...Thanks i shall look forward to seeing hour vids...
Thanks Shaun good to have you onboard 👍🏻
Preach brother , always been my plan to retire in Thailand , coming out in April for a month for some RnR.
An amazing place to retire. Where you heading to when you come out?
Just found your channel. Kudos. Damn right.
Well done son! Honest and straight talking,
Best way to be brother 👍🏻
100% agree. Moving to Thailand in 4 weeks time 🎉🎉
Fair play my man. The best of luck 👍🏻
Agree with all of those - I don't know about the gym tbh as I don't go here or back in London, but the rest of your points I totally agree with
👍🏻
Excellent vid! Very wise words.
Thanks buddy 👍🏻
Im gonna give Thai life a test drive for 3 months it sure looks like heaven on earth. The people and temples look amazing. I think I will like Chiang Mai best. I would probably already be moving there if I didnt still have family. I might have to buy a Condo though.
You’ll love it Patrick. Chiang Mai is a beautiful place I was there for a few months the last year. National parks are on another level. Best of luck 👍🏻
Thumbs up 👍 Damian
👍🏻
Well said sir !!!!!
The money that is flowing into Thailand (the area around T21in Pattaya for example) is front running a massive upgrade in lifestyle and standard of living in Thailand and the Far East !!
A lot of new money in Pattaya for sure
Straight to the point. And damn right
👍🏻
Drop by your neighbour Malaysia some day. No doubt we're also considered 3rd world country by many but main city like Kuala Lumpur, it's a hotbed of culture.
I’ve spent a lot of time in Malaysia. A great country. KL is an amazing city. I love Malaka as well. The food!
Thought about booking a flight to Bangkok next Feb to see what all the fuss is about. Dubai vibe didn't work for me, Portugal seems to be off the list now and jersey is overpriced atm. Cannot go back to Australia and don't seem like it was 2 decades ago.
@@mrdamianking will take you up on that offer. Really don't like what the government and police have been doing in the UK and Ireland.
Hey man, I need to ask - as a fellow Brit. How did you earn that amount money? What was your job?
YOUR VIDEOS GET BETTER AND BETTER SO POSITIVE AND I AGREE 100% WITH ALL OF YOUR 10 POINTS I LEFT THE UK YOU MAY, MAY NOT REMEMBER ME SAYING 14 YEARS AGO BECAUSE AND AS YOU RIGHTLY POINTED OUT WESTERN SOCIETY IS COMPLETELY F^^KED AND I FORESEEN THAT SITUATION THEN BTW THOSE FOOD CLIPS LOOKED ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS YOUR A GOOD MAN KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Thanks man, appreciate the kind words.
1:00 Yeah, move to Thailand and get scammed daily. That was my experience both times I visited.
7 years in Bangkok, never been scammed. Get out of the tourist areas.
I agree
I have been coming to Thailand for 25 years and have never been scammed. Although they do say, it takes two people to pull off a scam…
Alternatives to Thailand in South and Southeast Asia:
Malaysia (east/west), Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Myanmar (pending), South Korea, Philippines, Taiwan, India ... and obviously Japan
Spoilt for choice I venture to suggest.

Been married to an Englishman 27 yrs. Am an Indian. After 10 years of living in Uk , I dragged my poor husband to live in India for a few years, for some warm weather and less financial stress. Been 14 years since , he refuses to move anywhere now 😀.
And the unruly traffic, drives my husband nuts🙈😵💫
It’s a great place if you have money.
I agree. It’s not as cheap as a lot of people think.
Pre Covid a meal would have cost you about 40 baht, now it’s like 60 or 70 baht whilst wages have remained the same.@@mrdamianking
I’m not sure that I’m really friendly but I will try to be friendly.
I think you got it all right but U.K. is not overpopulated and Thailand has loads of illegals. There’s bad things as well, but I think the good outweighs the bad.
You will get seriously cancelled fast in Thailand if you say bad things about the wrong people.
10 best reasons, luktung, morlam, kantrum, phua chee wit, noora, lare, ramwong, likay lukrung, hang kruen!
Sounds like you’ve struck the right balance. The best of both worlds. Long my it continue 👍🏻
As long as you have money, what the hell will you do over in Thailand if you have no savings and when you get old, then what? back to Ol Blightly for DSS
Exactly
I’ve got savings, property in the U.K., a profitable business, and investments. I think I’ll be OK.
Only losers end up on DSS
I don't understand how you can criticise immigration in the UK, yet, it's OK for you to come and live in Thailand.
Really?
@@mrdamianking well, are you costing us Thai taxpayers money? Are you paying taxes here?
It’s fuckin hot here.
Why I chose hairless Asians
The reasons why I am leaving UK:
1. Living conditions are very high
2. Taxes are very high like gone upto by 40%
3. The amount of taxes that we pay are being contributed to (people coming in boats, unemployed people, foreign aid)
4. Crime rate 82% (if we report any crime, the police officers don't do anything)
5. Open borders
6. Lack of job opportunities
Sadly true. Many people feel the same
Anyone thinking about leaving the UK leave before the WHO pandemic treaty gets sighed in May 2024.
If you are Unvaccinated leave now don't wait.
I have to say were better off without you.
If you’re going to write negative comments, you might want to learn English and punctuation 😂
