I’ve dealt with guys like these in Jordan. My best advise, do not engage in that first conversation, totally ignore them , till they get mad and leave. The issue here was accepting that first ride. Do not ask for prices if you are not really interested, don’t even as a courtesy

When I was in Pakistan, I used to live right beside the beach. Saw incidents like these on a daily basis. These creeps always refuse to give you a definite answer about the money and after the ride, they'd team up on you with their equally trashy "brothers" with horses, harassing and threatening you to pay up. It's disgusting.
Travelling alone is always a problem, but i respect how Dale handled these scammers. Calling the police is always an option, it's usually enough to deter these scammers.

This is why when I travel I ignore people that come up to me. If scammers like this persist the best way to deal with them is to find a local cop. They will usually tell them to move on.

I've been in similar situations. I once had an airline manager in the Philippines refuse to allow me to check my luggage on a connecting flight and proceed to the boarding terminal about 500 feet away. She refused to tell me why, only refered me to a separate ticket office to answer my questions. The line was really long and by the time I got someone to attend to me my flight was only minutes away from departing. While I was explaining to a second employee that a manager refused to allow me through baggage check-in the same manager from the baggage area arrived and called me a liar to my face. She said she had never refused to board me, and that I was simply too late to board, despite having arrived at her station long before the cut-off, and all the rest of the native people who were in line for the same flight being allowed to check their baggage and continue to the plane. They informed me that I had missed the flight and would have to purchase a ticket on their airline for a later flight. They even refused to look up any other flights with other airlines for me and I was forced to purchase a ticket for the next day at a 360% markup over the cost of the original ticket. It was entirely because I was a white, "wealthy" American, that I was singled out of the crowd and refused permission to board. I ended up spending the night on the floor in the shopping section of the terminal, not trusting them to not pull a similar trick if I wasn't first in line when their counter opened in the morning. The next morning the same airline pulled another scam on their passengers, after overbooking the first flight out in the morning they casually had us all board several buses, and then sent one bus to the plane while the passengers on the second bus disovered that they would be staying aboard the bus for another 2 hours while they waited for a later plane. The name of the airline was Cebu airlines. Never fly with these scumbags if you're in the Philippines.

I've Never felt no tension being solo anywhere, it's all about your behaviour, don't accept stoopid tourist scam, just wait to meet Real friendly people to do stuff with them, if you Can wait, it will happen, and will be infinitly more true and enjoyable. I was at a bazaar in Niger 🇳🇪 and someone was heckling me trying to sell me "dinosaur teeth" (just crocodile teeth) he kept telling me 20,000CFA (about 40$) I would say no, he would ask me how much I want to pay, I say half that, he says ok and hands them to me then demands to original price. I finally paid another man in the bazaar to keep him away from me, he would follow me around and throw sand at the scammers. Money well spent.

@@theinfographicgamer5873 I wouldn't say avoid all third world countries, I would say avoid north Africa (especially Morroco and Egypt despite them being popular destinations), Middle East (even Dubai has some of these sketchy areas where things like in the video happen) and some south Asian countries (Pakistan, Bangladesh and India. Idk about Nepal). Those are the places where street scamming is very common and also a lot of corrupt police authorities that will misuse their authority and even scam tourists themselves! I've been to very pleasant third world countries, mainly in sub sahara Africa like Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Namibia, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Angola. And mind you, street scamming is not only a third world thing, Paris a city located in a first world country like France is PLAGUED with street scammers who will let you try on a wristband and after trying it on, they'll demand you to pay because their product has been "used". I got scammed in Madrid too. So basically you should be careful in all major European cities, a lot of scamming and pickpocketing takes places in those big first world cities.

It's great you got everything on camera for everyone to see and judge for themselves. I do think there's a huge problem with the way they are selling their rides, in that it lacks transparency with no clear or printed pricing list. So the scam is basically provide the service without telling the price, then once the service is done, BOOM! hit you with the over-inflated price. And they are fully aware that once the service is consumed, you become the villain and the scam who won't pay for it. This is a problem that's easily solveable on their end, just create a price list 10min ride for 100 rupees, 20 min ride for 150 rupees etc. Obviously they are in the business of ripping people off, so they wouldn't opt for transparency.
I think language barrier is a main issue because local kids don't understand what he is saying and he donot under what kids are saying . And same thing happen in India they don't leave until you buy something and specially it create more problems for foreigner

I saw a video on Luke Damant’s channel, a poor person was running a shoe cleaning spot, and when Luke asked how much, he didn’t answer, a Pakistani in the comments translated it to “ what your willing to give me “ , Luke didn’t understand and called a local who said it was only like 50 rupees ( .30 cents ) Luke ended up giving him 5.50 dollars for the great service
This is exactly why I don't go on any animal rides because the locals tell you not to due to the torture these animals suffer to train them. It's all done behind closed doors where tourists are oblivious to it.

This almost happened to me in Morocco while visiting as a tourist. They insisted on “giving me a ride” on the horse to go see my friends who were on the other side of the beach and I insisted I’d walk. Took a lot for them to back off I had to ask help from other locals. Luckily I didn’t fall for any of the scams so it didn’t really bother me.

When I was in Pakistan, I used to live right beside the beach. Saw incidents like these on a daily basis. These creeps always refuse to give you a definite answer about the money and after the ride, they'd team up on you with their equally trashy "brothers" with horses, harassing and threatening you to pay up. I've been in similar situations. I once had an airline manager in the Philippines refuse to allow me to check my luggage on a connecting flight and proceed to the boarding terminal about 500 feet away. She refused to tell me why, only refered me to a separate ticket office to answer my questions. The line was really long and by the time I got someone to attend to me my flight was only minutes away from departing. While I was explaining to a second employee that a manager refused to allow me through baggage check-in the same manager from the baggage area arrived and called me a liar to my face. She said she had never refused to board me, and that I was simply too late to board, despite having arrived at her station long before the cut-off, and all the rest of the native people who were in line for the same flight being allowed to check their baggage and continue to the plane. They informed me that I had missed the flight and would have to purchase a ticket on their airline for a later flight. They even refused to look up any other flights with other airlines for me and I was forced to purchase a ticket for the next day at a 360% markup over the cost of the original ticket. It was entirely because I was a white, "wealthy" American, that I was singled out of the crowd and refused permission to board.
I ended up spending the night on the floor in the shopping section of the terminal, not trusting them to not pull a similar trick if I wasn't first in line when their counter opened in the morning.
The next morning the same airline pulled another scam on their passengers, after overbooking the first flight out in the morning they casually had us all board several buses, and then sent one bus to the plane while the passengers on the second bus disovered that they would be staying aboard the bus for another 2 hours while they waited for a later plane.
The name of the airline was Cebu airlines. Never fly with these scumbags if you're in the Philippines.

I was at a bazaar in Niger 🇳🇪 and someone was heckling me trying to sell me "dinosaur teeth" (just crocodile teeth) he kept telling me 20,000CFA (about 40$) I would say no, he would ask me how much I want to pay, I say half that, he says ok and hands them to me then demands to original price. I finally paid another man in the bazaar to keep him away from me, he would follow me around and throw sand at the scammers. Money well spent.

Idk about Nepal). Those are the places where street scamming is very common and also a lot of corrupt police authorities that will misuse their authority and even scam tourists themselves! I've been to very pleasant third world countries, mainly in sub sahara Africa like Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Namibia, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Angola. And mind you, street scamming is not only a third world thing, Paris a city located in a first world country like France is PLAGUED with street scammers who will let you try on a wristband and after trying it on, they'll demand you to pay because their product has been "used". I got scammed in Madrid too. So basically you should be careful in all major European cities, a lot of scamming and pickpocketing takes places in those big first world cities.
@@sweetlemonade6925 funny thing is i live in morocco. but yes i agree. you can visit all any country safely as long as you stay in the touristic cities. but when once you start diving deep in normal cities and countrysides is where it gets dangerous. even i as morrocan can't go deep in some cities as an outsider. that's why i recommend any foreigner to stay away from these parts.
my advice to any tourist in any country is to try and make good local friends. it'll help them a lot instead of just going around alone with a selfie stick and a camera looking like a good prey for thugs lol.

It's great you got everything on camera for everyone to see and judge for themselves. I do think there's a huge problem with the way they are selling their rides, in that it lacks transparency with no clear or printed pricing list. So the scam is basically provide the service without telling the price, then once the service is done, BOOM! hit you with the over-inflated price. And they are fully aware that once the service is consumed, you become the villain and the scam who won't pay for it. This is a problem that's easily solveable on their end, just create a price list 10min ride for 100 rupees, 20 min ride for 150 rupees etc. Obviously they are in the business of ripping people off, so they wouldn't opt for transparency.

Big up to the guy that helped Dale at the end. Being in a foreign land, having someone know the same language as you is really helpful in tough situations. Poverty isn’t a justification to greed and lie, specially not towards the tourists who visit your country.
I saw a video on Luke Damant’s channel, a poor person was running a shoe cleaning spot, and when Luke asked how much, he didn’t answer, a Pakistani in the comments translated it to “ what your willing to give me “ , Luke didn’t understand and called a local who said it was only like 50 rupees ( .30 cents ) Luke ended up giving him 5.50 dollars for the great service

This almost happened to me in Morocco while visiting as a tourist. They insisted on “giving me a ride” on the horse to go see my friends who were on the other side of the beach and I insisted I’d walk. Took a lot for them to back off I had to ask help from other locals. Luckily I didn’t fall for any of the scams so it didn’t really bother me.
