This would make a great system for fully immersive audio in small to medium rooms. Just add a sub and I’m sure your parents would be grinning ear to ear, like I was. Thanks again, my friend!
Good review! I am from India I have the same setup but towers on the front (fs 52) with rsl speedwoofer 10s sub, denon avr 2309 receiver and a oppo udp 203 Blu-ray player. Many reviews on these speakers claim proper amplification (200 watts) should be provided in order to make them sound great. Is this true? I want to get crown 300 watts amplifier to run these. What is your suggestion?
I’ve read that also about this line of speakers but to be totally honest, I never got the impression that the bookshelf speakers needed more power than my 150 watt Marantz was providing. How large is your room, that would probably be the best place to start. Initially, my thoughts would be to add another Speedwoofer, adjust the crossover points, if you feel you are lacking oomph. Dual subs will even out the bass response and then you can adjust the crossovers, to take some of the strain off the receiver amplifiers. With all of that said, adding a powerful amp like that likely would allow this towers to produce louder and more lively sound, over a receiver power. How much improvement, I’m not sure. I just love how many people reach out to me from all over the world! Thank you for stopping by and for taking the time to comment, my friend!
The center channel is just two adjustable speaker stands with a piece of glass on top. I wouldn’t recommend this if you have children or pets though, as it could easily be tipped. I’ve also used heavy dust L brackets in the past, if you have a larger center that you want to put above the TV, angling down. Here is a link to the speaker stands. They are very nice for the money: www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-26-Bookshelf-Speaker-Stands-For-Pair-MartinLogan-LX16-Bookshelf-Speakers/392694323416 Thanks again for stopping by and please let me know if you have any other questions!
Hmmm, that’s a tough one. Out of all the speakers I bought to review for this channel, I’d probably lean towards the ELAN speakers I recently reviewed. Out of all the speakers I’ve ever owned, it would probably be the Klipsch RF-63’s, Klipsch Ultra2’s, Martin Logan ESLs or the Definitive Technology Mythos ST SuperTower speakers I’m currently listening to. I guess you could say, I’ve got a problem. Haha. Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to comment!
I have a 5.1 setup and using the pioneer bookshelf speakers as surrounds. Would it be better to use the atmos speakers instead of having the surround speakers?
The 5.1 in HT are definitely the foundation the entire system. I wouldn’t advise removing 2 of those channels for Atmos purposes. Past 5.1, say 7.1, it becomes more of a debate. Think of Atmos as the cherry on top of your home theater sundae. I hope that helps a little!
@@blazermdx That helps; thank you. There was a deal for the pioneers atmos, $180 off. I'll just stick with the pioneer bookshelf speakers for the surrounds.
Hello from Brazil. Like It the video and subscrived to the chanel. I have this setup, except that my surround are the sp-bs22. I like the Power of atmos, but didn't feel the reflection working so well. My ceiling are 9 feet the atmos from the height of the ceiling from the Dolby atmos bookshelf are 5.1 feet. My ceiling is concrete. Do you think that reflection don't work well in this conditions?
Always happy to hear from fellow home audio folks, especially from such a beautiful place like Brazil! 9’ ceilings are pretty tall for bouncing Atmos signals but you have the speakers mounted pretty high, so I would think it would work fine. What receiver are you using? With that said, the ideal Atmos setup is speakers mounted in the ceiling, above the main listening position. With concrete ceilings, doesn’t sound like that is an option. Truth be told, many of us out there, don’t have ideal rooms, so we need to compromise. “Bouncy speakers” as Gene over on Audioholics calls them, are a compromise that many of us need to make. I’m no different. I still enjoyed my time with Atmos speakers as I definitely felt they added extra dimension to the experience. Thank you very much for subscribing to my little channel, I truly appreciate it my friend!
@@blazermdx Thanks for the reply. My receiver is a Pioneer VSX-933. With concrete ceiling I guess my only alternative for "true atmos" would be to screw some speakers in the ceiling? I noticed that you use an amplifier, do you think os necessary to get the true power of this bookshelfs?
@@ecab21 Hi. I'm Brazilian too and I know how difficult it is to enjoy this hobby in our country (everything is very expensive!). An alternative in your case is to use a pair of Polk Audio Owm3 as you can use them as atmos and do not need to be built.
Always Great reviews ! Do you remember your klipsch gallery g-16 set? I was the guy that bought them from you. I’ve added 3 more g-16 and g-28 center channel in addition to the 7 I bought from you. now running atmos 11.2 setup along with 2 klipsch sw-110 subs. Powered by Denon x4300h and Emotiva basx 700 . Sounds freakin amazing !!
Oh wow, I definitely remember that set of speakers and you! I decided to start this channel to document my obsession with home audio equipped. I am happy you found me here, it sounds like you’ve been busy! Thank you for taking the time to comment on my little channel!
Average Guy Hi-Fi you’re doing a fabulous job 👏. Very knowledgeable and helpful! But yes, saw one of your post about you starting a UA-cam page and decided to look you up on UA-cam . Found ya ! Lol. Klipsch gallery series are future proof for many more years . Speaker game is never ending lol. But keep up the awesome work. I’m a Big FAN! Take care!
Hello Robert! There are a couple things to consider, when comparing these two systems: The DT speakers were a 5.1 package, that came with a subwoofer. The Definitive Technology system will dig much deeper than the Pioneer system, due to this fact. The Pioneer system will require a modern AVR, to get use out of the Atmos channels. The Pioneer speakers won’t play as deep as the little DT speaker package but you will have a more immersive experience with the Pioneer system, due to the extra channels but the bass won’t go as deep. Add a subwoofer to the Pioneer set and it will fill larger spaces, with great sound. When it comes to just comparing the sound both packages produce, not factoring bass response, I would actually say they are fairly similar. Both have a detailed sound but the Pioneers would likely go louder in the average room, due to the cabinet size. For the casual audio fan out there, in small to medium sized rooms, I think either would make 90% of the people out there happy. Just really depends on what you are trying to accomplish and the size of your room. Thank you for taking the time to comment, my friend, I truly appreciate it!
Not a problem! There’s some better looking acoustic foam out there that I prefer but it can get quite expensive. This cityblox foam seems to be a good looking, and inexpensive compromise. Thanks again, friend!
Hello! I am just using some heavy duty, adjustable speaker stands and a thick piece of glass at the moment. I’m single with no pets or kids so I can get away with this system. Can Pioneer VSX-834 (7.2 channel receiver) drive this 5.1.2 setup? I'm dropping my plans to buy towers just because the receiver's amp could be overloaded as the receiver's output per channel is 80 watts max at 8 ohms. Also, I see that you are using 2 pairs of atmos speakers. I assumed the atmos/height channel is only front setup?
That receiver looks like it should power a 5.2.2 system with no problems. These speakers aren’t the easiest to drive but in your average room, that Pioneer should have enough power, especially if you ad a subwoofer and cross them over a little higher. Ideally, Atmos speakers would be mounted in the ceiling but if you can’t get away with that, the “bouncy” Atmos speakers are the next best thing. Thanks for stopping by and for taking the time to comment!

Just purchased the Pioneer VSX-933 Amplifier and the Pioneer SP-BS22A-LR Dolby Atmos speakers and couldnt be happy this reviewer must be smoking crack because he minimizes the impact of these speakers which I suspect is more to do with the limitations of his own system and not the speakers.
