My best bet for the binding post not to vibrate when unscrewed to help banana plugs support would be to use teflon tape as much as needed so that's it's snug when untight, thus cutting all vibrations. (we don't care the thread being insulated with the tape in that case).
I’m so psyched I scored a new in box pair of these for $100 locally. My dad will love ‘em. P.s. You definitely gotta swig beer before you use a screwdriver dude.😂 👍&sub’d!
I think the new Dayton MK402X would be a good choice to review. The X denotes a new crossover compared to the non-X version. They also didn't increase the price due to the new crossover, so kudos for that Dayton. Just went to check the price and they are on sale for $60 at Parts Express.
I actually had a set of these for a few months and sold them to a friend. I liked them other than they suffered from a bit of port noise of you push the woofer to hard. I think they are a lot like the Micca MB42X. If my friend will let me barrow them I'll get a video done on them.
Enjoy seeing these taken apart. I do find it counterintuitive that speakers of this size and price range have such poor efficiency. Why would someone not wanting to pay a lot of money on speakers want to pay a lot in a receiver or amplifier? Makes absolutely no sense to me. Personally, I think Andrew Jones is a wizard of marketing, but I digress.
I just bought a pair from Pioneer”s eBay store for $69 three days ago. The Atmos version was $129 a pair. I bought the center for $69 as well. The towers were $89 each. Atmos add one we’re $79. The sub was $199.
@@chris.fitzgerald That's a good price for the floorstanders. I just checked this morning and they are $99.00 new. Pioneer does sell open box and refurbs on eBay as well. I've been tracking the price of these for years. Average price used to be $129 each for the floorstanding speakers. Congrats on finding a good price.
@@chris.fitzgerald oops, forgot to mention the $179 was on Amazon. Progressively went from $129 - $140 - $150 - $160 - $170 and now $179 each... Crazy!
@@iowaudioreviews Thanks for reply but there are none on Ebay. As recently as a couple of weeks ago there were about a dozen or so on sale at Ebay. It seems someone has bought them all...

Dennis Murphy have a Vifa tweeter swap/crossover mod (simple and advanced) for these, worth trying?

Why do they discontinue this speakers? They are amazing.

Appreciate the "used" review. I'm considering paying $75 for a used pair of these. Thanks!
Did you get them two years ago??!
Excellent video. Loved the breakdown. Thanks

agreed but it has something to do with the sound he wanted. there is an interview about why these and ELAC are so inefficient.

Use these in a 5.1 system. Love them
Up to $179 now. The floorstanders used to be $96-$129 Each but are now $170 each. Word got out.... (The downside to very positive reviews lol)

Has anyone noticed that all of a sudden it appears that there are no SB22's for sale anywhere that I can find?
They've been discontinued for years. So ebay.

@@rrchannel2464 Unless your dead set on the Pioneer, I'd recommend the Sony CS5 speakers instead.
Whats a good budget amp to pair with these? Thanks
