    I have tried several cake laces with varying degrees of success. This is the first one that worked perfectly first time out and remained flexible while I worked with it. I am going to buy more mats and some of the premixed metallics

    Hi Tahmina, It is the very lowest setting possible with a lit flame. We recommend checking the lace after 10 minutes to see if it has dried, if not, keep it in the oven and keep checking.

    Hi i must say I had ordered your cake lace product from cake stuff online and the first time i ordered the product that was delivered was all ready product and it was all fine but the second time i ordered a month later the product came with two different items in the container the powder and the liquid with no instructions in it. it would be advisable that you should put some instistructions on the container or a leaflet of instrctions inside the container. this had been such an inconvenience.

      Yes, you can use Dinkydoodle ethanol based paints to airbrush your lace. You can't use water based colours as they would melt the lace. Cake Lace will be at the NEC this weekend, yes. Can you add a colorant to the mixture? I need to make black lace.

    • @CakeDecoratingco
      @CakeDecoratingco  8 років тому

      +Holocaust DidHappen There is a black Cake Lace available - www.thecakedecoratingcompany.co.uk/cake-lace-black-500g-by-claire-bowman You can add gel colour to white Cake Lace to make it the coloured but you won't be able to make a true black (which is why one has been developed). You'd have to add too much gel colour to get a dark black that it would alter the mixture consistency and the lace wouldn't dry properly. Hope that helps!

      I've been using the black cake lace recently and have to say it is superb but would suggest wearing disposable gloves :)

    • @CakeDecoratingco
      @CakeDecoratingco  8 років тому

      You can add gel paste or lustre dust to colour the lace yes. You won' be able to make colours like black or red though as they would require too much colour adding and that changes the consistency of the mix and it won't dry properly. Cake Lace make a black Cake Lace mix (and other colours that you wouldn't be able to make yourself) - www.thecakedecoratingcompany.co.uk/cake-lace-black-200g-by-claire-bowman

    This is wonderful except the lady's fingernails... DAMN!! Confectioners must have trimmed nails so the ingredients do not enter underneath them and for health safety reasons. This is unacceptable gentlemen. Thank you.

      +Trupti Sarangi Briefly, yes. Don't leave it on for too long if the whipped cream is very wet as the Cake Lace will melt.

    Lovely tutorial-thanks. One question though-if some of the mix that I make is left over-do I save it for next time-and how long could that be? Or do I just discard it? TIA

    I was hoping the tutorial was going to show how to join the cake lace without the join being obvious.

    • @CakeDecoratingco
      @CakeDecoratingco  9 років тому

      +Pauline Moulton All cakes have a 'back' Pauline. That's where the join will be. The pattern in each panel of Cake Lace joins up with the other. Simply trim off the thicker white strip at the side of each Cake Lace panel. Hope that helps!

    I have never used this, and the reason is everyone I know that has commented the lace is like chewing on
    Rubber and trying to cut through it is the same. Anyone else have any information either way?

    • @CakeDecoratingco
      @CakeDecoratingco  6 років тому

      Our Cake Lace mixture is essentially just sugar. Is it very fine so once layered over the top of your sugar paste or buttercream you can't taste much at all. Some brands create lace that is very thick which I can imagine isn't very palatable but ours is fine and intricate just like real lace. Remember, the slice of cake you'll be eating will only have a very small amount of lace on it. If you really don't want to eat it, simply peel it off.

      Thank you... I appreciate the information on the product.
      Regarding Cutting through it AFTER it's on the cake, does it require a ridiculously sharp knife in order to avoid pulling or distorting of the decorations?
