    Thanks for the tutorial, I tried to replace new C32 on my GBC and it improves the static speaker noise issue.

    Great video, but always use flux even for desoldering. The reason why, towards the end, you had spatter, and you didn't use any flux plus the low melt. If you had touched the spatter with flux, all of it would have gone straight to the iron. Sometimes, Wick alone isn't enough, so flux it up! Also when soldering surface mount caps only tin one side like that it doesn't give you much trouble to flatten it out. More flux is better than no flux!

      @wolfmanrepairs  3 місяці тому +1

      Thank you!! Yes I agree I need to use more flux!! The one I’m currently using has been giving me issues the flux is getting past the plunger in the dispenser and it’s making a mess. Do you have a flux you recommend?
      Recently I’ve been dipping my solder wick into flux before use and it’s just amazing how well it wicks solder now!!
      I need a bit of practice on the surface mounted capacitors. I think this was my first time soldering them. 🐺🐺😁😁

      @wolfmanrepairs I definitely do, buddy! Stirri fluxes, I've got a code for you for a 10% off! (PARADOXHD) The ASM seems to be a common favorite, but the V3 is a new formula that's very good, performs awesome, and also smells nice. I've actually recently purchased that same one you did, and other various from that brand did not like it one bit. After using stirri, I never looked back. Give it a try and tell me how you like it. Pro tip for cleaning: Use cleanroom wipes if you can. They are lint free and swabs. Get as much off as you can before using the IPA, and it should eliminate sticky mess.

      @wolfmanrepairs yes check out the V3 from Stirri it's my current favorite. If you got a form of contact, I can message you for a discount.

      @wolfmanrepairs pro tip for cleaning use clean room wipes and swabs they are lint free and really great to clean up flux. I use that first to get as much as I can off then I use IPA the highest percentage you can get I usually stick to 99% but 90 or higher is the best. This gets rid of any sticky residues especially if you clean it right away while the flux is hot

    Interesting. Most NA presenters, as yourself, call soLder, "sodder".... however that doesn't detract from a good demonstration...

    Great work!, i would check continuity on the Sound scroller thingy and the headphone jack because those have messed up sound for me on some repairs on these.

      Thank you!! Yeah I’m not sure if the sound volume is normal or not. I will have to give that a try, the sound scroller wheel thingy could be dirty.

      Yes try cleaning the volume potentiometer with contact cleaner. Get to the contacts under the plastic wheel. Speakers can be checked for ohm measurement between the terminals with a multimeter.

      @wolfmanrepairs  11 місяців тому

      Thank you both!! I went ahead and sprayed some contact cleaner into the sound wheel contacts and the volume seems to be much better!! 🐺😁

    I traded in my GBC because the buttons wore out like an idiot and then bought a used GBC figuring I could mod it. I tried it out and it kept resetting and ruining save files. Turns out it was a bad capacitor. The volume is a bit low, but i can replace it with a better speaker down the road. I still need to give it a rechargable battery and a backlit screen.

    • @wolfmanrepairs
      @wolfmanrepairs  7 місяців тому

      That’s an interesting issue!! I had no idea a bad capacitor could do that!! I will have to keep that in mind. For this GBC I did modify it a bit. If you would like you could check it out here:
