hack: for the Stanley cup if you want to use it on a camp fire cut off the plastic handle on the lid (because on a campfire it will melt) and put a keyring in it's place
I've been impressed with some of the Ozark Trails equipment. I've bought stainless steel water bottles and cups and they do an impressive job for the money. Thank You for the review, I plan to purchase the stove and pot soon.
I got one of these stoves a couple of months ago when they were on sale. Definitely a nice little stove that packs a punch. I added just a thin film of high temp grease to the seal/gasket on the very bottom of the stove to smooth the installation and removal of the canister. Thank you for the video 👍🏻
I have a small stove like that. I find that containers sit precariously on the little fingers on top of the stove. To solve this i bought a small square pack grill to place over the fingers increasing their surface area making it more stable. It also enables the use of different size containers.
I have this stove and paired it with the 1 quart Pathfinder bushpot. It brings water to a boil pretty dang quick. I use it as an ecery day carry in my pickup truck as i work the night shift and when I get off at 2am, everything is closed up. It has come in pretty handy cooking cup of noodles and oatmeal, and if course boiling water for coffee or tea on the hour ride home. For $12, you cant beat this little stove. Will I upgrade it? Sure I will, but until then, it works just fine for my needs. I may even buy a few more at that price point just to have as backup stoves. The Stanley cook set? Absolutely bulletproof. An amazing budget pot. I used one for years as an over the road truckdriver. Perfect for boiling water for Mountsin House meals and coffee. The little green cups are prefect size for Folgers Singles.
Bought the Stanley set 12+ years ago for my work back country bag set up. Think I may have paid about $10 for it at the time and was a bit apprehensive on it's ability to hold up. 12 years later and still going strong. Cut off and replaced the lids plastic tab with a large key ring and ditched the plastic cups (never used them) to save weight and allow for storage of my burner, utensils and additional fire making materials. It will actually hold quite a bit and save on pack space and organization. Highly recommend and a proven item in my experience.
both of these are my go to !!!...... I added a walmart(Ozrk trails) stainless cup to nest on the bottom and the lid from the stanley also fits it so its great for a second pot or eating........... I also made a wind screen that nests between the cup around the stanley......you will enjoy it !!
If you don't care for that one, check out the BRS-3000 titanium stoves. They're pretty cheap and handy and about their only downside is that they don't have an auto-ignition option. But you can fit a small isobutane canister, a BRS-3000 stove, a mini Bic, a half sponge, a microfiber cloth and a small bottle of soap in the Stanley pot with a little bit of room to spare, and put a Scotch-Brite pad in between an Ozark Trail GSI Glacier clone cup and the Stanley pot for scrubbing (keeps them from rattling). That's how my current setup looks and it works pretty well.
I wish these were still $13 and $15 each, they have almost doubled in price since this video was made, but they are still good options because EVERYTHING has almost double. The Stanley set is now around $25 and the Ozark Trails burner is $20 (If you can find it)
I have the Stanley set and like it a lot. I travel with only one cup in it and then there's room to put my MSR stove and sparker inside. Makes for a nice compact travel set.
Honestly for the money, that stove is a great buy. I have the same design (likely same factory) from Amazon for 2 of my kids. Before I got my MSR pocket Rocket Deluxe I used one for YEARS. Many mountain backpacking trips all the way up to 8k ft and it never hiccuped. The big difference with the MSR is that it has a regulator. At elevation or in the cold the cheap one will take 6-8min to boil a full cup of water. This also means more fuel consumption to do the same work. The MSR (or any with a regulator like the Soto windmaster) will take 3-4 min… they both cost a LOT more though… so still a 👍🏽 from me for the cheap one for most people. Until Stanley raised the price of the cook cup I highly recommended it for a first cup. At $25 now I would say just go for a cheap GSI aluminum.
Thanks Toni! I have seen so many bad reviews. But the most recent reviews have been positive! The stove I bought after using sterno during a three day power outage, I could not get the water to boil. Now when the next outage happens, I can!
I leave the cups at home, and bought a metal cup at Walmart that the Stanley pot fits in. So I put my stove, coffee, sugar, spare matches and condiments inside the pot. I’
@@troyyarbroughTroy, to be completely honest I am so annoyed over it that I wrote Stanley. They have been selling the cup at $15 for over 10 years. Even after covid they went on clearance for $8 in some places. I remember Amazon had them for $12 less than a year ago. Once their sippy cups became popular with the Swiftys it was game over.
@@robg836 Maybe I should write Stanley as well. Maybe if enough people let them know our grievances they will do something. I kinda doubt it, but it's worth a shot.
I have the same setup, but I ditched one of the cups and my burner is a little smaller so it fits down in the single cup inside with a can of fuel inverted on top and the lid in place. Makes for a single grab and go kit.
Actually a pretty good (but not the best) little stove for the price of this package. A very similar stove on Amazon goes for $12.99 and the cheapest adapter I could find was $7.99 and the exact copy of the stand was $8.99 for a total of $29.97. So the 4 in 1 is not a bad deal and you also get the pouch to use for what ever.
I lost mine that was just like that it works good to make coffee in just add water and coffee grounds and boil for a couple minutes on a light boil let it sit for a couple minutes and Wallah coffee is done and it tastes delicious
Putting the burner on top of a fuel canister adds extra height and therefore instability for whatever pot or pan you put on it. $18 (just $3 more) will get a propane stove not much bigger that sits on a flat surface, hooks a propane tank up with a hose and has longer more stable pot holders. Spending $23 will get this type of stove that boils water in half the time. $32 will get this type of stove that boils water in one third the time. When a propane stoves main function is to boil water the BTU rating matters.
This cookset will also hold the Grayl Durapress Water Filter. Replace the two plastic cups with a $5 Walmart Stainless Steel Cup, which the Stanley Pot Lid will also fit. Replace the plastic tab on the Pot Lid with a split-ring keyholder, but be careful, the plastic tab has a metal pin, and if you try to twist it off you can break loose the loop that holds it to the lid. (Don't ask how I know this.)
Waypoint Survival has a whole hacks series for that Stanley cook pot. Good vid and I like that you tested out the Stove. I was considering buying one (Pocket Rockets for $75 are just way to expensive!).

@@TonyHob OK, just wasn't sure it was put in the instructions, because I ordered one off Amazon and mine came with two different ones with no instructions. 👍😎🍻✌️👋
interesting the stand is a nice touch. i went with the Etekcity 2 pack of this kind of stove as someone else also wanted a cheap one. no stand with them tho.
You go through a fair amount more gas trying to boil water in cups/pots with such small diameter bases as the flame has less surface area to heat up under the water.
FYI Amazon Canada has this Stanley cookset selling for $67.44 CAD but on 2024-06-28 it was on sale for 57% off so I snagged one for $32.77 CAD taxes in and free Prime shipping. Not sure if it's still on sale though.
It looks like that’s a third party vendor on Walmart’s site. My local WM does not have any. Amazon has it at $25 which is still a lot higher: amzn.to/48zgmH1
Ive had the Stanley set for over 6 years and is my go to set. Thats a burner not a stove. As for burners you get what you pay for, good luck with cheapos lasting or working when you need it most. I splurge for JAPAN Made products, SOTO windmaster, had it forever and still works.

How long does it take to boil water?
It depends on the amount of water, the initial temperature of the water and the altitude at which the water is being boiled
