When you were like, “Who do you think is the main character?” I instantly went, “Hank.” I’m glad we’re all on the same page on this. 😂
I like the connection you made between Barry and his acting. It's always felt like part of the allure of acting for him is the ability to change identity: become someone else, someone that Barry actually wants to be. Taking on roles allows him to essentially escape reality and pretend like he isn't a bad person.
That's something that I don't see anyone discussing. The money goes to Fuches and he essentially gives Barry an allowance from that. What exactly is going to happen when Fuches dies? Is Barry going to receive an inheritance? He has left Barry with essentially no marketable skills except for murder because he made it so that Barry could function in life without him around. Every time Barry tried to do something for himself, Fuches stepped in and reminded him that his purpose was to kill and anything else was a waste of effort. Finally Barry had to kick him out just so he could have the freedom of space to explore and grow as a person just to develop other interests and life skills. Fuches essentially created a world where Barry could not look in any other direction without seeing his face blocking him.
Noho Hank is the best part of the show, but Gene's almost 4th wall breaking narcissism is hilarious as well. Fuches coming up with names for his gang in season 4 was brilliant.
I really don’t want it to end, But it’s perfect. It has been an amazing 27 episodes, and I have no doubt the last 5 will finish it off perfectly
I just like how random each character is as they introduce new ones each season....it's basically a show about different types of toxic people...😂😂
Couldn’t agree with you more, my 3 favorite shows I think are peak television are Breaking bad, better call Saul and Barry.
You drawing those parallels between Berkman and Hank, PHEW, berkman trying to be a good guy but is fighting his violent nature vs hank actually being a good guy buy is put in a world of violence. Gaaahhh
I really like this show, but it's DEFINITELY a stretch to call it one of the best shows of all time, it's truthfully not even in the same ballpark
i feel like barry taking acting class because it helps him inhibit a new persona kinda cheapens the process of changing because if its worded like that it pretty much means barry’s still the same murderer but just hiding beneath a mask when in front of the spotlight. i think he simply chose acting because he was given that applause in the acting class which made him feel welcome in their house(idk if this made sense sorry)
Season 4 is already fire
I like how in the new episode that just aired there was a call back to Hank likening gadgets. And we got A cameo not only from Fred Armisen but also Guillermo Del Toro.
"The Comedy never takes away from the drama." As a die hard Barry fan. This is the best review I've seen on UA-cam.
This video is so good and really collected all the thoughts I've had about the show. I really liked your humour and thoughts! This has to be like my 2nd favourite series, its just beautiful, relatable and just amazingly written and acted.
I had such a different idea of what it was going to be until I actually sat down and watched it. I'm so glad I finally did before season 4 started because I have not been this invested in a show since Better Call Saul. Every aspect of this show is top tier.
Great production quality bro
This show is up there with The Wire, Boardwalk Empire, and Game of Thrones as my favorite HBO shows.
You said it dude, this is Hank's world, we're just living in it.
Hey man! Saw the Succession video and instantly pressed that subscribe button. And now Barry!
