Meeting traffic for me as been, by far, the thing I've felt the least comfortable with when learning to drive. This video has been a great help, many thank for taking the time to make it.
As someone with autism and dyspraxia, I am waiting on a decision from the DVLA as to whether or not I should be able to drive but I am already researching how to drive and I find your videos to be incredibly useful. You are definitely easing my anxiety and have videos answering all the questions I have! Thank you so much!
Thank you for taking the time to cover these concepts. I'm starting to understand that new learners (myself included) make mistakes in these situations only because most trainers never get around to explaining the correct approach. Your channel has smashed my driving anxiety as a learner, thank you SO SO MUCH.
Extremely well explained using graphics to demonstrate all sorts of various scenarios, backed up by real in-car situations. Also the importance of looking *both right AND left* when entering (and giving way to) a road with parked cars from a sideroad. Every day is a day at school. Thank you. Best. Noel
My test is tomorrow and this is a big struggle for me. I've been binge watching your videos and they are so helpful (especially as my test is in Colchester!), so regardless of the results tomorrow, thanks for the help! The way you explain each section of driving is so helpful for a someone with an anxiety disorder as it helps me have a "textbook" of knowledge in my head for every situation
I like how he proper just relays all the information without taking ages like some other videos. good when you really just want to get the relevant information. I also like the expressiveness and intermingled humor and alot of good solid info as afforestated. (meaning more than just this one vid as have watched a fair bunch thus far. I personally get on much better with this than 'advance drivin school' for example. Different way of learning just more compatable with me personally, also like some from a fella called Chris but for me this works best
Your idea of keeping your left foot in line with where you want to be positioned has helped me it stops you from looking at your car and more where your body is positioned on the road
This video is great for my knowledge. I finally know why i pass my driving test when i thought i made a mistake passing between a bus and an oncoming vehicle. After i moved out to pass the bus, then i saw the oncoming vehicle and decided to squeeze between.
You are the best driving instructor. ADIs should also learn from you. In London, the instructors are interested in just minting a lot of money. I so wish I could learn from an expert like you but I am not so lucky.
In Japan it’s illegal to park on the road- you have to prove you have a parking space in order to buy a car. So that ideal world does exist somewhere 😍
the only channel which keep me concentrated until the end. it really help me because at my driving lessons i can' t ask so many thinks , i want to do more practise. Thank you very much for your favour. 👌🙄🚗🚦
Thank you, you break this down so well, making it easier to understand, my own instructor makes me more anxious with meeting traffic, i actually feel like im going to cry, im usually ok but then i find myself woreying more of her reaction instead of using my head, reasong the road & anticipating....
Thank you so much! No one ever explained this to me like the way u did on the video. N now by theorizing the decision n solutions, I feel way more confident and safe driving in those situations. Great help indeed! Thx a lot!
I love your videos. Thank you so much. You're able to give clear instruction and elaborate more in these videos where maybe my instructor can't after I have passed the situation already. I can now see what he's been trying to tell me!
1. Give way for oncoming cars before you proceed 2. Give way to a committed (to close to stop) car 3. Flash light - Request others to proceed 4. On a right bend - slow down to 10 mph or less, then stop if someone is there 5. In case of reversing, least distance reverses 6. When equal priority - , try to make eye contact 7. At a junction ve careful to see if someone emerging from junction is not blindly pulling out in the front 8. If you can fit easily with ample of space , continue going, else wait, else if try to go at slower speed if squeezing in 9. ** Dont signal when changing lanes near a junction, people may think you are about to turn 10. Position- 1m distance - can open the door, 10 mph 11. *hazard on right hand bend , keep left. On left hand bend, keep right - this gives more view 12. *move out of land extra early to get a good view, so you can move back in 13. Applies for Any obstruction on the road
Very good summary of the video but be careful when it comes to flashing your lights. It's supposed to be used to warn others of your presence although many people use it for many different things.
great video, I'm studying for my license & was confused about some of the cases mentioned in the video, but now it's all clear to me. Thank you very much.
Hi,very clear explanations and examples.....no one ever do this much....Thank you very much for this vedio and for your hardwork to explain in detail.......
Hello Richard The reasons I struggle with this is - some roads in small towns are so narrow that it makes it impossible or very hard to allow a car doors length distance - for example you might have to straddle the middle line or enter the right lane in some cases to be able to pass with a doors length distance between you and the car / obstruction - often i find with driving advice isn't always clear cut or easy - it often to me feels like damned if you do damned if you dont. For example i have heard people say . Dont look to far ahead , dont look in the mirrors behind you and dont look at the left car too much 😢 how
You elaborate very clearly and simply I'm getting lessons right now but that's just driving ,all information I need is here thumbs up for your videos 👍
A couple weeks ago I had a driving lesson and we had been working on the reverse bay park which i did very well with actually. the whole lesson went very well and on way back i stalled while setting off from lights and then about 100 metres down the road for some reason i did not spot a person waiting at zebra crossing and almost went straight into them and my instructor had to use his controls to brake. I could not believe i did this. My instructor said it is because we had been working on reversing and with me just stalling it my mind was probably still on that. Does that happen often with you at all? I mean with your students.
This happens all the time, one of the challenges of learning to drive is learning to keep your mind forwards on the present task at hand and not allow yourself to be distracted by the past... or too far into the future.
In pakistan there is no rule for drivers you can go everywhere you want, also there is minimum accident ratio. I prefer that without following these rules we are not save. This man is doing a great job for humanity salute him. U.k and U.S.A is the ideal nation for technical knowledge definitely.
Your videos are always instructional and well thought out and I often use them to aid me when teaching my pupils. Do you use an app for the diagrams such as in this video? I don't often feel I need one but on the odd occasion I feel it would be useful.
Maybe look at the Neil Beaver apps as my instructor I believe uses them for over 7 years and I've seen some on UA-cam also use them in their lessons :)
Many a time I have people shooting out of a junction ignoring Give Way lines especially when my lane is blocked and not always when a car is coming from the other direction either. Parking on a bend isn't allowed I'm sure but people do! People don't care about distance to junctions for where they park either. I think a lot of drivers need to take there tests again.
In Ireland if you are passing the middle white line you should indicate in the test and cancel signal after a second, but nobody does this after the test
This video was really helpful. My cousin was in a situation where she was going forward and had cars parked on her left while another car was coming towards her and they ended up being parallel and both were telling each other to go first so my cousin decided to move forward but the other car got scratched.
If there are a line of 5 parked buses, each parked without gaps between them, should I overtake them if I will likely only reach the second last bus before meeting an oncoming car or should I wait for that oncoming car before pulling out? The reason I ask is that if I overtake, then traffic, on the whole, will only be delayed for the length of time it takes me to overtake the single final bus while the oncoming car waits. Compared to if I wait for oncoming car then traffic will be delayed, on the whole, for the length of time it takes to pass 9 parked buses. Because at time I stop at the first parked bus, I will need wait for the oncoming car to travel the length of 4 buses away from the parked bus nearest them (the final bus furthest from me). Then they will pass the 5 buses while I also wait. 4+5=9. Therefore traffic is delayed 9 times more overall if follow the rule to give priority to oncoming traffic. Personally I am fine with that if that is the correct thing to do even though it may confuse drivers behind me if I wait. But should I do that?
8:50. One question, would I give extra clearance to oncoming cars by staying extra close to parked cars on my left?or would I give extra space to parked cars by moving slightly to the right, if I was driving in a narrow road shown in 8:50 etc?
I just failed my test for undue hesitation because parked cars because i waited and it was tight, and when i did that on a previous test i also failed for not waiting in same size gap
Very well Explained. Could you please explain how to judge if the car is too close or too far while turning in to pass the parked cars or when passing by the parked cars. God bless you 🚗🚗🚗🚗
When I was a very young child in the 70s the roads were clear of cars as there was one car per household, and they were always kept in the garage as cars left out wouldn't start the next day!
7:54 exactly to me once, well, on the test. Residential street, two lanes, but parked cars on both sides. This guy in front in an SUV (reduced vision ahead for me) signaled left after passing a couple of parked cars and went into a space. I thought he was parking. There was no room for me or the cars behind in the opening, so I went past, and there was oncoming traffic (in a better scenario I suppose I could have looked ahead). Bad luck, but I did get a lot of reversing experience (safely, of course). They marked this as a serious fault, which I feel was a bit harsh because I did it safely.
nice video, i have trouble driving to and from work cause my main road to work is always busy with parked cars either side. i only struggle at night time really because when its dark, the oncoming car headlights make it very hard for me to judge the gap available, cause the glare blinds me and i cant see the size of the car either. also, one time i was passing a parked car on my side, there was plenty of room to do so, as the road was wide enough. but nearly collided with an oncoming car because it decided to overtake a cyclist on their side of the road at the same time, so we both emerged at the same moment, i had no way of knowing the other car was going to try to over take at that moment, thankfully we didnt hit, but it was a bit clutch for sure. i really didnt like that, and its shaken me a bit ever since.
Without seeing exactly what happened I can't comment. All I would say is be very careful when you see an oncoming car behind a cyclist, it common for drivers to pass cyclists dangerously. It's not right but we have to be ready and plan for it.
@@ConquerDriving yeah, I was a little blind sided as it was on a bend towards a downhill , very scary indeed. I hate driving to and from work because of the parked cars on that road but every route has them sadly. It's much harder to know at night as well, I do slow down but if I tell my more experienced fiancee that I do this, she says I can't slow too much or it will upset other drivers so I'm consciously trying not to slow too much , she has never had an accident or any points, she always knows the width of her car and whether she needs to slow down or not, so I feel like her advice matters. I never feel like I'm going too slowly, especially that area cause of shops on one side of the road as you go downhill around a bend, you would get pedestrians walking from behind parked cars, or people opening car doors, there is also a passenger island in the middle of the road which is hidden from view behind the parked cars, and people who speed up the hill towards you. Hate that road but will just go slower in future

Thanks for the help much appreciated trying to teach my son finer points
Superb video. I’m your new fan.
I find it really hard to judge the distance from my car and parked cars so thanks
You're welcome.
Great job. I have found so many helpful tips in your VDO
Thank you ☺
8:50. One question, would I give extra clearance to oncoming cars by staying extra close to parked cars on my left?or would I give extra space to parked cars by moving slightly to the right, if I was driving in a narrow road shown in 8:50 etc?
Try and take half the space and give the other half to the oncoming car. Leave a bit more room for larger vehicles.
love this clips ,thanks.
Really useful stuff! Real Expert!
Found this channel today and am continually being impressed by your animations. What do you use to make them?
Thank you, Adobe suite, it's not easy though.
Can you do a video on giving way to emergency vehicles please
Thank you, I'll add it to my list for consideration.
Very nice graphic done! Thank you so much👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you.
could you please do a video for adjusting mirrors for beginners and hold back position..

Super useful. Thanks very much for the content.
