The Ocean Collective is truly one of the major metal band of our time, hope they will get the recognition they deserve... they are a bit what Aphex Twin has been for electro.... Going relentlessly through each emotional/style process/steps of metal music without any considerations for maintream influences. Hope to see them one day as recognised as Tool!
The Ocean really knows how to make the fields of geology and paleontology engaging and intense. But that's what I love about the band and especially the Phanerozoic albums.
That dark ass piano solo at 6:04 is fucking beautiful. The transition into the final break down is just absolutely amazing. This album is soooooo epic.
This might be the best track this band has done to date....holy shit. This song proves how important bass is in a mix if you want something to sound even heavier.
The bass tone on this whole album absolutely slays. I'm not sure I've ever heard bass on a metal record come across as heavy as it does on this one. A+ production/mixing work on that.

I love this band. Extreme metal in Ocean form is so dam intelligent, every album is a lesson in geology, paleontology, anthropology and so many other scientific disiplines. Very great cerebral stuff, this music wakes the brain.
The Ocean is the most unique metal act there is. Absolute #1 favourite band! Just such captivating and heavy yet beautiful music. I'm sure at first people would mistake this for generic death metal with these scream-y vocals but to anyone seeing this comment after just finding this band, I assure you this band makes the most beautiful music I've ever heard!
The idea of eternal recurrence is so fascinating to me.. This song gives me intense chills, especially that outro with Loïc singing "all over again/start over again" between lines. Wow. The Ocean is one of my favorite bands right now, they're so good
This riff just sticks to me like glue. I listen to this song once and it's in my head all day. That and it's impossible not to settle into a nice, slow nodding headbang along with it. Insanely good song, one of their best IMO.
Three songs released from "Phanerozoic I: Palaeozoic" so far and it just keeps getting better and better! This may just be the best album from The Ocean thus far and that IS saying a lot!
Bantering Ram ikr, I honestly didn't expect this album to sound so well after they made 2 top notch albums in their own style and rights (Precambrian and Pelagial, ofc)
I'm so glad I clicked on this... Honestly never heard of this band before and I absolutely love it already! Can anyone suggest some songs from them for a newbie???
These guys are a full album kinda band really, I'd say start with anything off of Pelagial for material which is the most similar to this. Their old albums rule too but they are all pretty varied and have many other vocalists.

Your whole life, like a sandglass
Will always be reversed
And will ever run out again
A long minute will elapse
We'll always be reversed
Until all those conditions
Out of which you were evolved
Return in the wheel
Of the cosmic process
We'll always be reversed
And then you will find every pain and pleasure
Every friend and every enemy
Every hope and every goddamn error
Every blade of grass and every ray of light
Once more
And the whole fabric of things
Which make up your life
Will always be reversed
This ring in which you are but a grain
Will glitter afresh forever
We'll always be reversed
And in every one of these cycles
There will be one hour where
For the first time one man
And then many
Will perceive the mighty thought
Of the eternal recurrence of all things
And for mankind
This is always the hour of noon
And then you will find every pain and pleasure
Every friend and every long-lost lover
Every hope and every goddamn error
Every blade of grass and every ray of light
All over again
