I'm surprised the police boats are single crewed, it's very difficult to handle a boat in those conditions and effect a person rescue. If the boats are being used for that then at least double man them. Full credit for the officers who do manage to get the PWC in tow, let alone manage to get swimmers onboard, if they were injured it would be another matter.
@wyomarine I singled crewed my 30ft cabin cruiser a lot through Holland and Belgium. The lines were prepared each side for coming alongside at the many locks. The fenders were left out both side and arranged so they worked with spring lines. I preferred to come along side the walls as it's easier than trying to find cleats on other boats to raft on. Life vests worn or to hand, not in lockers. Radio on dual channels. Bilge pumps tested, everything that if needed in a hurry was easy to get to. New crew briefed on emergency equipment and radio procedure before setting off. The waterways and lakes are commercial and busy places, the weather on the lakes changes quickly, so my motto was Be Prepared.
Its all fun and games as to who can be the coolest until something goes wrong. Where would all these people be today if it wasn't for their rescue ob others? Can you imagine if they were further out and no one saw what had happened? Boating takes time to learn and being able to properly swim is always advisable
I think the majority of these skis were rentals (not the 1800R's). These rental guys tow skis around the sandbar area just inside the inlet and rent them to anyone without any instruction or care. They also clog up the 79th street ramp. This needs to stop.
They should not allow the jet ski's to constantly go in a and out of hazardous areas like this. Jet skiers are noted for being the least experienced when it comes to operating watercraft. The inexperienced are going to eventually ruin it for the responsible riders.
I got news for you....plenty of boat drivers out there are clueless....I have the steel in my leg as evidence....I agree that jet skiers often present first....mostly due to rentals and price point. How do you suggest ski riders go from the ICW to the ocean exactly? I wear a helmet on mine just for these reasons.....skis hitting people and boats hitting skis....crazy.
The jet skiers already ruin it down here in Florida for everyone . Absolutely stupid people down here. They don’t know how to drive cars, don’t expect them idiots to know how to drive anything on the water .
Well these jet skiers look very much like first timers, or renters with little or no experience, for those kind of conditions you must build up a skill set in calmer waters, then work your way up to rougher water over time, for I wouldn't consider those conditions all that bad, but I definitely wouldn't start my jet skiing experience in those conditions, same goes for the boats!
@@TheBDD1970 Sorry for the late response. I do not believe I said to keep PWC from the waterway. Instead of saying that they are constantly in and out of the entrance I should have said they should not be allowed the use the entrance as their playground. It's a navigable waterway that is hazardous enough to navigate let alone dodging PWC jumping waves. I agree that there are plenty of brain dead boaters too that have no business being on the water let alone a hazardous crowded waterway. You can do more damage in a yacht than a PWC. The problem is PWC get a bad reputation from a few bad apples that will wreck the fun for the responsible PWC owners. There are lakes in my area that no longer allow PWC and other lakes where they are restricted. There are some inlets in the saltwater areas where they are not allowed at all due to people not respectful of other people's property and space. I have nothing against PWC and own 2 myself. I do not ride but my wife, kids and grandkids do. If I fell off of one I would be screwed as I would not be able to get back on it. They all wear wet suits, hi impact life vests and white water rafting helmets. They only have to go a 1/4 mile and then it's open waterway for 5 miles as the main waterway for boats is on the other side of the island. I will take the boat out and create waves for them to jump. I guess the moral to the situation is I do not want a few bad apples to ruin the fun for the majority.
Anyone know how fast the water is ripping out of the Inlet.... lol, I mean there's a lot of force moving = 6-8knotts? ALSO, is there like a compartment within the jetskis that can get flooded to where the thing won't go upright until it's drained? IDKnow but it seems these folks have caused their water craft to submerge & can't right them? Is that what's going on w/ them?
the worse part is they could be between swells and no boat would even see them, also the people with the seadoo upside down should know to crawl across it, grab the opposite side and pull it back and upright
The melt in the background needs putting down, doesn’t he ever shut up. The biggest problem I have is tourists on jet skis that just rent for a few hrs, no training no skills and put us all in danger.

@@TheBDD1970. If the weather is bad. Why in the hell do renters allow them to take the skis out to begin with. I am sure the can find a better way
Well these jet skiers look very much like first timers, or renters with little or no experience, for those kind of conditions you must build up a skill set in calmer waters, then work your way up to rougher water over time, for I wouldn't consider those conditions all that bad, but I definitely wouldn't start my jet skiing experience in those conditions, same goes for the boats!
I guess the moral to the situation is I do not want a few bad apples to ruin the fun for the majority.
those waves are way too big to be out on. people are getting way to spent trying to get back on
Geez, how many different marine law enforcement agencies work down there? 🤷🏻♂️
Who else was waiting for a 42 Yellowfin with quads to coming roaring through there?
Omg 😳
Anyone know how fast the water is ripping out of the Inlet.... lol, I mean there's a lot of force moving = 6-8knotts?
ALSO, is there like a compartment within the jetskis that can get flooded to where the thing won't go upright until
it's drained? IDKnow but it seems these folks have caused their water craft to submerge & can't right them?
Is that what's going on w/ them?
the worse part is they could be between swells and no boat would even see them, also the people with the seadoo upside down should know to crawl across it, grab the opposite side and pull it back and upright
1:31 just add a small emergency paddle and you're fine...
Some folks got no business on the water. If you don't have experience don't play with the big boys😼❕
I kind of enjoyed the family calmly and systematically reboarding the jet ski at 18:00. It may not have been the smoothest, but it did work out.
I liked that part the best, nobody panicked, dude had a plan and considering the conditions, executed it perfectly. ;)
@@samshearer6955 Surprised it did not capsize again at 18:55
to flip your jetski, grab onto the intake hole and pull it over from there
Whats the fun in those conditions? Trying to get back on your jet ski...no thanks🤓
At first, I thought “this is an unusually high amount of dumb fuckery”. Then, I remembered it’s Florida.
As I refer to the #sandbarstate as “Floriduh” 🤷🏼♂️
It IS where all New Yorkers go to vacation....
Most are transplants.
@@alligator801so is the US population. What difference does that make?
nope not me..stay in da bay on ruff days rookies! glad they ok..
What’s so annoying is the Police and Coastguard putting their own lives at risk to save these effing idiots, not to mention the cost.
The melt in the background needs putting down, doesn’t he ever shut up. The biggest problem I have is tourists on jet skis that just rent for a few hrs, no training no skills and put us all in danger.
Sharks do like a good outgoing tide though
