Criminally under-rated at the time, but they're getting their dues now. It's sad that Jimmy could not be still with us to appreciate it though. Timeless music..... It sounds like it could have been released yesterday...it will still be amazing in 20 more years time....
Went to see Catherine Wheel play at the Tivoli in Buckley (North Wales) supported by God Machine. Must've been early 90's. GM Blew my mind. I'd never heard of this band before, but Catherine wheel were shite afterwards..literally nothing to offer in comparison. The lead singer i recall, asked for no lights except one red bulb and the band were so loud.., so good..it was without doubt one of the best gigs I've ever seen and I've been a massive fan ever since.
Natalia Samsoniuk aye... saw them at the Aldershot arts centre. tiny room... maybe 300 people at most. just staggeringly loud and powerful and yes, I've seen swans. one of the very greatest bands of the last 30 years
Bought this when it came out in 93. I have listened to this album more than ANY other album in my life. Amazing band. One of the truly sad break ups ever. I miss them so much.
I haven't heard this song for 9 years. Wow! Made me sit up and listen, just like the first time. I left this album behind when I shipped to Basic Training, and never picked it up again when I left home. I spent many a lonely night doing push-ups, sit-ups and lifting weights, getting inspiration for my dissertation listening to this masterpiece. It made me get through the times when I was sucking hard. Great lyrics, great song, great band. Thank God for The God Machine! Rest in peace Jimmy!
Best live act I ever been to...Saw them in Enschede The Netherlands...They opened up for Living Color...Man...Living color sucked ass..God Machine took everyone there to another dimension! F#¤%&%g awsome!
I absolutely loved this song back then and it still sounds awesome! Saw them a couple of times in London around thirty years ago, they had a great presence. So sad how it ended 😢
Glad for you, I am one who was a fan at the time, and in the UK things were so dry - John Peel played this song, and my eyes grew wide... i had to have it.
Lyrics: Black car Wrong side of the road Saying Look out jack we're taking him home We're taking him home To his promised land See the woman point to the sky Cross her heart And hope to die Jesus made her do it Jesus made her do it She's taking him home She's taking him home To his promised land I'm a wayward soldier On my way I'm a wayward soldier On my way To my promised land
my absolute favourite band of the 90´s. I still love the music. I was lucky to see them at the danish Roskilde Festival in ; In think, 1993? Amazing concert. they played all the songs from scenes from the.... Mind blowing!
I've had the chance to listen to thousands of bands of all kinds of genres and languages wich I love. And this album. When it was released and today is on top with my favorites. That's ALL I gotta say!!
so great to see people discovering this shamefully overlooked band. !!! Scenes from the second storey is an absolute masterpiece. I was watching some rock show on tv at 3 in the morning back in the early 90s and this came on. it was like WHO IS THIS ? had to have it. San Diego band mainly living in England. It soooo deserves a re release its not true,!
I was lucky enough to see them five or six times in 1990-92: at a pub in Gray's Inn, at the New Cross Falcon, at Reading 1990 and elsewhere (memory of 90s not so good). Absolutely amazing live: incredibly loud, tight and full of passion. This is a beast of a song: love the bassline, love the brutal drums, question Robin's choice of shirt. And, yes, I agree with the previous poster who requested Pictures of a Bleeding Boy as your next video, whereishunter.
the intro is bulgarian folk music from the bulgarian state radio choir - they recorded a few albums with a french producer back in the '80 and '90 called 'le mystère des voix bulgares' lots of videos from them on youtube by the way (type : mystere des voix bulgares) ... you're welcome (frederic - brussels, belgium)
Mother love bone and god machine. Omg. The 90s would have been bery different. If u know. U Know!!!!!!! TGM. Forever!!!! Johnny wajda philly Jax ace rns3 busloopcrew 🌬️🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊☁️
I saw them live in Eindhoven as the opening act for Living Colour. I remember the singer saying: 'This next song is really something else. You'll probably hate it.'
SUCH A GREAT BAND! Agree 'Scenes...' is a masterpiece. So great to see this surfacing. Robert Smith had a hand in helping them i seemed to recall? Also they were I think the only other band to sign to Fiction records with The Cure.
this album was fucking amazing, really some of the hardest shit ever in terms of the way its was done. bought this album when it came out but lost it over the years and just ran into it again. fucking amazing wish they had never broke up and put out more heavy as hell yet "mellow?" shit like this.
Mindblowing concert. Especially when they left all their instruments on stage, in full feedback, at the end of the last track. So infinitely better than their albums.
I disagree - I think they were quite good, but everyone is entitled to their opinion It takes a good amount of listening to their stuff to get it, but they were better than many bands of their ilk
One of THE bands that helped me survive my early twenties....
I want my 90's back.
lol! yes!😂🤨🤪🥺😫😐
Late April 2023 and I am playing this band in my old Beetle on cassette !!!! They were so good and powerful....
Criminally under-rated at the time, but they're getting their dues now. It's sad that Jimmy could not be still with us to appreciate it though. Timeless music..... It sounds like it could have been released yesterday...it will still be amazing in 20 more years time....
well said

I think I'm still a bit deaf from it ;-)
Saw the CW/GM combo at Manchester Boardwalk. Phenomenal gig.
Bought this when it came out in 93. I have listened to this album more than ANY other album in my life. Amazing band. One of the truly sad break ups ever. I miss them so much.

Thankful the universe let me discover The God Machine in 2016
Glad for you, I am one who was a fan at the time, and in the UK things were so dry - John Peel played this song, and my eyes grew wide... i had to have it.
No idea how it's taken me to 2019.
I saw these guys in front of about 200 people in 1992 and it blew me away completely. Excellent band.
@@robashton8606 I saw them support Catherine Wheel in early 1992. It was -astonishing-.
I discovered them in 2013. I remember the moment
what a great band! the official sons of Jane's Addiction with a lot of great heavy riffs
I once played this and their cover of "All My Colours" to Jeffrey Lee Pierce, he was really impressed by the bass playing. RIP Jimmy.

I saw these guys at a tiny club in Bath and at the Phoenix Festival in 93. Massive sound live at both venues!
Scenes from the Second Storey is one of the finest albums. Seven is amazing.
Still got this on 12" vinyl..Great track.
Uno dei migliori album di tutti i tempi!! Mi vengono ancora i brividi quando lo ascolto!
I've had the chance to listen to thousands of bands of all kinds of genres and languages wich I love. And this album. When it was released and today is on top with my favorites. That's ALL I gotta say!!
Epic, majestic stuff. A complete monster live.
tragic what happened to Jimmy.

One of the undiscovered bands of the 90's
Such a sad loss; Jimmy, you were a wonderful man. I'll never forget the accidental party in Cologne.
I bought this tape back in the day. I was floored by it. I loved it. Ahh...the high school days.
Mother love bone and god machine. Omg. The 90s would have been bery different. If u know. U Know!!!!!!! TGM. Forever!!!! Johnny wajda philly Jax ace rns3 busloopcrew 🌬️🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊🌊☁️

not one of but the best band of 90's,
I saw them twice in 93: a tsunami of sound
I saw them live in Eindhoven as the opening act for Living Colour.
I remember the singer saying: 'This next song is really something else. You'll probably hate it.'
Patrick Staal I travelled from London for that gig
One of my favorite Bands and favorite piece of Music EVER.
So happy I found this. Served in the early 90's overseas and hated every second of it. This band helped me so much.
Agree with you 100%!! Never got the chance to see them live either.
Weve come a long way from this. its just so 90's.
SUCH A GREAT BAND! Agree 'Scenes...' is a masterpiece. So great to see this surfacing. Robert Smith had a hand in helping them i seemed to recall? Also they were I think the only other band to sign to Fiction records with The Cure.

“Right car, wrong side of the road…” An accurate summary of my life in the early 1990.
this album was fucking amazing, really some of the hardest shit ever in terms of the way its was done. bought this album when it came out but lost it over the years and just ran into it again. fucking amazing wish they had never broke up and put out more heavy as hell yet "mellow?" shit like this.
LOVE Them !
Graet
Mindblowing concert. Especially when they left all their instruments on stage, in full feedback, at the end of the last track. So infinitely better than their albums.
The Mystery of Bulgarian Voices! Nice.
major impact!
best song ever
My love for this band is endless. He's obviously not comfortable with pretend-singing in front of a camera crew.
Wish they'd recorded more.
i agreee wow LOve this song
So underrated, still so actual
That is brilliant!
Great Great
il piu' grande gruppo di tutti i tempi
intensita',epicita',spleen..tutto racchiuso in un vortice di emozioni uniche
molto meglio dei jane's addiction
+Rosario Petrosino Molto meglio dei Jane's Addiction???...get the fuck out of here!

Check out Austin’s (drummer) new music project Mercylane 🖤
looks like one of those thankfully forgotten 90s bands Beavis and Butthead would improve with their commentary
Edgy.
Who are they not the 1990-1994 band ??? Souds like Porno for Pyros ...
Dude thank you, I was going to link this after my friend linked me Pets randomly as I thought it sounded similar.
It is them saw on other videos think been to long like 23 years since saw at Reading 1993. There are other God Machine bands.
I disagree - I think they were quite good, but everyone is entitled to their opinion
It takes a good amount of listening to their stuff to get it, but they were better than many bands of their ilk
anyone thinks this sounds kinda similar to 'scentless apprentice' by Nirvana?
yes, sounds exactly the same
They were SOOOOOOO good live. Shame.
raytrace 🫡
One of the overlooked bands of the 90’s!
Them and Mint 400!!
