I mean hes technically not being in a chase to prove a point..... Ive gotten plenty of players in a trap just by chasing them and forcing them to go where i want them to go. Or their stupid and run into it when they should know almost half the pallets they loop is already pre trapped.

Yeah it also depends on the situation the survivor is in. He was able to inch himself around the traps but if they were being chased he wouldn’t able to take his time, and usually with that window, survivors don’t usually get a running start to go through the window and usually do a medium vault through that window while being chased. So in some situations those traps are decent.

Trapper is an outdated killer. Everything from his traps hit boxes, to the fact he has to go around the map just to collect his traps, is based off a meta that maybe would have worked in old DBD when survivors weren’t as experienced, but in the current game just doesn’t work. IMO he needs a complete overhaul and rework just to make him playable in higher ranks.
@@Trigger__Happy yeah nowadays you have to at least lose one gen before you can set up your territory without corrupt intervention one fix for this is to allow trapper to be able to carry more traps without the use of addons or make his traps appear closer to his spawn point instead of randomly around the map that idea could also help the survivors at the start to know where the killers spawn is and where not to go so it’s a win win for both sides in this regard Edit: also I think the pink addon that makes his traps open up again after thirty seconds would be nice to make all the traps open that haven’t been placed by the trapper to trap the random survivors who take risks to get closer to the killer would be a great addition

And Myers' difficulty is "Hard" even though he's probably one of the simplest killers in the game, if not, THE simplest, considering the only thing to his power (excluding scratched/vanity mirror) is his stalking. Undetectable and short lunge in Tier 1, 2 hits to down in Tiers 1/2, 1 hit to down in Tier 3 and a long lunge + faster vault speed. All this makes him one of the easiest killers to understand imo. Really all you neef to know for Myers is: Get out of Tier 1 asap, short lunge > Tier 3 lets you insta-down and lunge further. The rest comes with time and practice, as does with any killer

In my personal experience Trapper is a pretty decent killer. Sure, his power is outdated and in need of a rework but all it really takes is getting creative with the traps, hell, even a few obvious ones can help him out in the long run.

We at BHVR have heard the Community loud and clear, and have given Billy a “chain snap” mechanic. Whenever he hits anything with his chainsaw, there will be a medium chance that the chain snaps and he needs to pick up a replacement chainsaw at a specified locker on the opposite side of the map.

Recently, I have been laying only 2 or three traps in clever spots. People run around carelessly thinking there are no traps on the map, and will fall for it. It is very effective.
Trapper is actually great for new players because he's easy to understand and has baseline killer stats. Probably one of the best killers to help low ranks learn fundamentals.
Huntress is easy imo, when I played as a new player I did well, but I don’t even know why the nurse is free, they should’ve made an easier killer free instead like clown or legion

Being a m1 machete man doesn't make him any better of a new player killer than Wraith, for example. I would even go as far as to say that Wraith is a lot easier to understand simply because he doesn't require so much tile and hitbox knowledge.
Give him a secondary piece of equipment that he doesn't have to look for, like deployable fishing line that he can maybe place in doorways, and it just hinders the survivor a moment and notifies Trapper. Survivor's can only see a slight shimmer depending on which side of the fishing line they're standing on.
I'd also like to see a second type if trap, if he gets a rework. He will definetly get one someday, let's just hope, he's getting some new toys to play with

The one at the top of the stairs isn't bad. It's actually pretty good. If you have to spend several seconds edging your way past it, it's not a bad trap. In a chase, you don't have that kind of time.
So, im majoring game design, and i had some interesting ideas regarding trapper and possible reworks and changes that would probably make him a way more fun and usable character without making him op. Everything would probably just be flat right ignored tho, so, yeah. And Great video otz
Thank you dudes for taking the time of day to listen to a random future game designer rambling on the internet lol, so, here it goes, and sorry for the absolute essay that this became. Anyways, my design idea for a trapper rework involves, firstly, keeping his trap placing mechanic (its a fairly ok mechanic for zoning, not that strong in the slightest and easy to deal with from i'd say rank 10 up. Too easy honestly, the mascot of the franchise is an m1 killer with a crappy skill that only rarely catches you and can be disarmed. Secondly comes my idea for an additional skill: Beartrap Fist. Trapper can grab one of his traps from the ground and instead of placing it you, quite literally, use it to punch a survivor, sticking the trap on him. Easy to do so graphically wise too, just shove a beartrap on the side or leg of the survivor. After punching, the trap will be wasted and remain on the survivor until removed. It causes one health state of damage, hemorrhaging and hindered (temporary ideas and subject to balancing, of course, but I’d say its nothing too strong or too annoying. It facilitates his chase ability and gives survivors something to worry about. To remove said beartrap, a survivor needs to do a “mend” mechanic with skillchecks. Failing them will cause the survivor to scream and give trapper an indicator (also maybe hinder them a bit further, again subject to balancing) and reset the “trap removal animation”. After mending, the survivor will remain on the hurt health state until healed (basically like taking an m1 to the face with extra effects). The survivor can choose not to remove the beartrap and go on with their day, but, until the trap is removed, the survivor cannot heal himself to healthy (self care, medkit) or be healed by others and will remain with hemorrhaging and hindered status effects. After a Beartrap is removed, the survivor plops it on the ground and it can be picked up again by Trapper afterwards. As his trap placing mechanics will still remain, (like Doctor with his static blast, my thoughts were to let him place with Ctrl by default, and use the Beartrap Fist with M2), most of his addons can remain the same, with additional ones for the Fist: I’d say an Iridescent one for the fist to cause Deep Wounds (maybe an instadown, but less beartraps on the map to pickup and they disappear after removed); one for it to cause Mangled; one for harder skill checks when trying to remove it, one for more traps to spawn on the map; one for more fist charges (although hitting the same survivor with the Beartrap Fist a second time will only count as an M1 and not give additional effects (the survivor will be downed normally [Wouldn’t stack with the Iridescent instadown if ran together, like huntress iri heads]) and that’s basically the ideas I had for the addons for now. Everything I said would of course be subject to change and balancing, but I’d say im pretty on the line of what a fun killer, with a bit of slowdown, a bit of zoning and better chases trapper could be. The one at the top of the stairs isn't bad. It's actually pretty good. If you have to spend several seconds edging your way past it, it's not a bad trap. In a chase, you don't have that kind of time.
So, im majoring game design, and i had some interesting ideas regarding trapper and possible reworks and changes that would probably make him a way more fun and usable character without making him op.
Everything would probably just be flat right ignored tho, so, yeah.

Thank you dudes for taking the time of day to listen to a random future game designer rambling on the internet lol, so, here it goes, and sorry for the absolute essay that this became.
Anyways, my design idea for a trapper rework involves, firstly, keeping his trap placing mechanic (its a fairly ok mechanic for zoning, not that strong in the slightest and easy to deal with from i'd say rank 10 up. Too easy honestly, the mascot of the franchise is an m1 killer with a crappy skill that only rarely catches you and can be disarmed.
Secondly comes my idea for an additional skill: Beartrap Fist.
Trapper can grab one of his traps from the ground and instead of placing it you, quite literally, use it to punch a survivor, sticking the trap on him. Easy to do so graphically wise too, just shove a beartrap on the side or leg of the survivor.
After punching, the trap will be wasted and remain on the survivor until removed.
It causes one health state of damage, hemorrhaging and hindered (temporary ideas and subject to balancing, of course, but I’d say its nothing too strong or too annoying. It facilitates his chase ability and gives survivors something to worry about.
To remove said beartrap, a survivor needs to do a “mend” mechanic with skillchecks. Failing them will cause the survivor to scream and give trapper an indicator (also maybe hinder them a bit further, again subject to balancing) and reset the “trap removal animation”. After mending, the survivor will remain on the hurt health state until healed (basically like taking an m1 to the face with extra effects).
The survivor can choose not to remove the beartrap and go on with their day, but, until the trap is removed, the survivor cannot heal himself to healthy (self care, medkit) or be healed by others and will remain with hemorrhaging and hindered status effects.
After a Beartrap is removed, the survivor plops it on the ground and it can be picked up again by Trapper afterwards.
As his trap placing mechanics will still remain, (like Doctor with his static blast, my thoughts were to let him place with Ctrl by default, and use the Beartrap Fist with M2), most of his addons can remain the same, with additional ones for the Fist:
I’d say an Iridescent one for the fist to cause Deep Wounds (maybe an instadown, but less beartraps on the map to pickup and they disappear after removed); one for it to cause Mangled; one for harder skill checks when trying to remove it, one for more traps to spawn on the map; one for more fist charges (although hitting the same survivor with the Beartrap Fist a second time will only count as an M1 and not give additional effects (the survivor will be downed normally [Wouldn’t stack with the Iridescent instadown if ran together, like huntress iri heads]) and that’s basically the ideas I had for the addons for now.
Everything I said would of course be subject to change and balancing, but I’d say im pretty on the line of what a fun killer, with a bit of slowdown, a bit of zoning and better chases trapper could be.

When he blew a raspberry with his mouth after getting past the second trap, it scared the living shit out of me for some reason.
Trapper used to be my favorite killer to use, until you set down one too many traps. It becomes really annoying and all you can think is the how the Hag is so much better.
Good thing I haven't spent money on the game to understand this.
